Well since we're in the T500 thread, might as well ask here. What would be a nice stable cockpit for the T500? Hopefully compact too. Something that can be shipped to the US with a relatively ok price, around the $500 range. All the European cockpits are great but with the shipping included prices are just insanely expensive! Obutto or playseat maybe? Or is that it? Thanks! :)

edit: something that can handle tactile as well :)

B.u.i.l.d y.o.u.r. o.w.n :)

Maybe you can make a deal with diptob79 but I guess you'd have to worry bout shipping. I'm very impressed by his cockpit as posted in this thread a little earlier (or see the T500rs cockpit thread)

Yes I saw the pictures... and yes my problem again would be the shipping cost. :( I almost, out of desperation, started looking at the playseat SV... but I must resist temptation. Plus it wasn't specified on their website the specs of the tactile that thing provides, I guess it would be subpar than customizing my own since there is only "1 motor." After talking with Mr. Latte, I think I am at least knowledgeable enough to see that it will only provide 1 additional level of immersion, and I think I would want my left and right rumbles now LOL :D

I think I need to send mine back, I'm almost 100% convinced the wheel has gone soft on me. I hadn't played in quite a while but I am certain that the FFB was much stronger back then. Anyone who can confirm FFB was turn down a notch at a specific update?

Also, the fan never runs anymore. Which it did when I just had it, it's like the wheel doesn't heat up at all since I have the feeling the motor isn't doing it's full potential. I'm just guessing here, I wish there was a diagnostic tool that could detect faults.

I remember doing GT Academy with sore arms after an hour on default settings, now I can do all races practically with one hand.

@Zalathas

Force feedback takes regulable for T500 after update 1.06. Before this, the regulation wasn´t affect to this wheel (was the same in all levels).

I think what he's trying to say that FFB was at 100% before patch 1.06 since the T500 RS wasn't officially supported so you'd always get the rodeo treatment by default, which would make a lot of sense since firmware-wise the wheel is set to 60% at default. If GT5 recognizes this value since patch 1.06 it would explain the wheel suddenly going soft on me since patch 1.06.

However, I can only confirm this if the FFB strength option in GT5 doesn't effect the T500. Technically it shouldn't since the game states it's only supported for de DFGT en DF Pro, but anyone noticed a difference? I sure as hell didn't.

Ok, that makes sense now. I don't notice any difference adjusting the in-game slider with the latest version. But, my FFB strength has not changed with any patches either. It is still quite strong.

I think his concern was his wheel itself. Btw, the FFB settings in GT5 do work. I'll go double check in a bit. Just because it has a pic of DFGT doesn't mean it doesn't work. just give me a few

[edit] Tested FFB 1 vs FFB 10. It's a pretty big difference. If you can't feel anything at FFB 10 then your wheel is 100% broken. I should add though I am uncertain how much suspension plays a role in this game. I would test a wide variety of cars with stiff suspension just in case. I know in shift 2 if you have a high suspension you won't feel much FFB. Not so sure with GT5 haven't being playing it very much lately

Completely unrelated, but have you tried RBR yet? It is amazing how well FFB with the T500 works! To think there is really no implementation on the RBR end other than the original FFB algorithms, i.e. nothing specific to the T500...amazing.

Not yet, tried most of the others tho. Yeah the PC drivers are great. It's a shame it doesn't work this way on PS3 (older games work with it).

T500 RS is officially supported for GT5 since version 1.02 (before the wheel was released), but the force feedback can be changed only since update 1.06 (as you say, before this it was at 100% in all levels).

Then, if you played with the wheel with the force feedback set 3 (for example) in the Logitech DFs regulation option, you got the same strenght that playing with it set to 10.

If you leave playing before update 1.06, and you have restarted to play recently (and you have updated your GT5), if you had a low force feedback setting, you must have noticed the change.

After doing a little more testing last night I'm starting to wonder if suspension is playing a big part in the FFB effects. And some ffb effects almost appear to ignore the setting

For instance driving my red bull x1 at FFB 2 on Daytona speedway, I can still feel a lot of strong FFB effects. In sharp constrast, driving my Speed 8 Bentley at a low FFB everything is pretty soft and smooth. Driving the Bentley at FFB 10 is stronger, but still smooth. Driving the X1 at FFB 10 is crazy strong. It's almost like driving on a rough track on Dirt 3 in certain areas of the speedway (it gets little bumpy on the straights)

Might do some more testing later if I get the chance 👍

I imagine perhaps a lot of factors play into the FFB effects

Super Cheap Fix for Crunchy T500RS Realistic Brake Pedal!

I got this nylon hole plug from Home Depot... Drops right in the end of the spring and eliminates that metal-on-metal crunchy feeling. Costs less than one dollar for a bag of 2. The plug is shorter than the spring at coil bind.

EDIT: The picture got compressed and is illegible so here's the part number, etc:

Crown Bolt
HOLE PLUG LOCKING
3/8" (9.5mm)
NYLON
CP-D / 40-D / 940
Dr# - 940 2 Pcs

The UPC code has 30699 14728 under it.

I found this in the hardware department in the big drawers full of nuts, bolts, etc.

This fix worked perfect. Did you just up the Brake sensitivity in the game or can you also adjust the sensitivity in the t500rs Control Panel or files? Also, thanks for this, I also found where my sqeeking was coming from and took care of that.

The only way is to customized then.. 👍
Or you can modify some stock cockpit like obutto or sparco GT, which one is closest to your area?

Shipping from Jakarta will cost a ton..

Still have to finsih up some details. going with a Red Bull theme.

Also pedals inverted and tilted 27 degrees. This orientation sets the pedals very similar to my old inverted G27 cockpit pedals.

Thought about the obutto (a lot of times actually) but for some reason, the playseat GT5 repeatedly just grabs my eye  plus it seams nifty enough to hide or dismantle... and I will have to make my decision real soon (like tomorrow LOL) because my T500 is feeling lonely just stuck in the box :grumpy:
Gamepod GT2 would be nice but that will be pushing my budget over the edge.

Edit: Also I don't know if the wheel could be hard mounted to the obutto because of the bars underneath the table.

Any tips how to take a T500 with you when flying? (going on a 4 month exchange study so wanna know if I can take it with me before buying)

Race ready!

Did about an hours worth of practice tonight on the T500 and new cockpit. Really nailed the height of wheel and pedals. However second time round it is expected.

As for wheel compared to G27. Right away I was missing my G27. About ten minutes with the T500. I fell in love. Amazing control. Pedals are still something I am adjusting too. Got pretty comfy by the hour mark. Hopefully tomorrow get my "feel" back with more seat time.

Anyone thinking about the T500. Just do it. You will be pleased.

Yes that's a fatty brake pedal. Gotta get more made these are great!

Have another idea brewing for gas pedal. Something I think will really bring throttle control to a new level. ;)

Ownes is that seat adjustable? Just wondering did you custom fit it to your size, etc.

Looks really clean, sturdy, & professional. I cant imagine that T500 going anywhere in that cockpit (no wobble, etc)

Seat has factory slides as well it tilts at the back. When I made this mounting set up. I made sure I could tilt the lower seat angle to my liking as well. So it can be 2,3, or 4" of tilt in front.

So yea seat is filly adjustable. Was going to do a tilt wheel. But once the idea of recessing half of the wheel and letting the upper half stick up like a ram air hood or something. I decided against tilt wheel.

Zero wobble for sure
