But I think TM knows the importance of holiday sales. And I'm guessing, that's what they're shooting for.

I hope and expect this is closer to the sales floor than that.

Clearly Thrustmaster don´t want to show their shifter before Fanatec shows the Clubsport (and vice versa).

I agree , its very cat and mouse around here these days.

I hope they at least work together with Wheelstand pro so that I can aquire my shifter mount at the same time the shifter becomes available. I plan to ping WSP guys as soon as they confirm when this shifter is ready.

Guys used my T500 RS last night for a couple hours of online racing on GT5, now tonight I tried to use it and now does not power up:(

No auto-calibration on start up, also mode LED does not light up.

Only thing that seems to be working is the PSU as the blue LED is on.

Tried bootloader method but no luck.

Sent email to Thrustmaster technical support so see what they have to say :(

Guys,

I notice some difference in my laptime when I use T500 RS. I'm about 1 sec off. I found out when I switched back to G27 i could do better laptime (abs=1, else off). Throttle control is better on T500 but i think it's the steering that need another learning curve. it has bigger wheel diameter so it needs more movement to reach the same degree of rotation compare to g27. But I wonder if the 1080deg feature has something to do also.
Is it just me or anybody has been here before? Any advice please.

thanks.

Yeah Diptop, I noticed this too when I first changed to the t500 from a g27. At the time i was playing alot with the Ferrari F2010. My lap times were a bit slower at the begining because of the bigger wheel diameter of the T500. After a couple of days I got used to it and my lap times were the same. Now my lap times are much quicker because of the stiffer brake. I also think the T500's wheel is better than the g27, It feels sturdier when driving and so movement is much more precise. Besides you get used to the extra inch in diameter really quickly, so keep at it.

What most people seems to forget is that better FFB especially in the case of the T500RS where you're also getting a more powerful motor/effects means that it will take more effort to steer/drive which means your lap times will/might be slower. Of course, in most cases you will either turn the FFB to make it more manageable and/or build strength and technique to compensate for the stronger FFB.

Just think about it: one of the (many) reason why most of us will be slower in a real car is that it requires more effort and power to drive than it does with a FFB wheel although wheels like the T500RS have further blurred the line..

Thanks for your comments, it makes a lot of sense.
I used to quick countersteer while accelerating hard out of a corner (personal style), but now everytime i did it ends up with big slide (i suspect due to less countersteer) so i'm having more hesitation on the throttle now :grumpy: 👎
Now i have to fight my laziness to move the wheel more than G27.

💡
I want to prove this hypothesis.
Hey guys, is it possible to reduce the maximum rotation angle of GT5+T500RS wheel from it's firmware? I mean, i want to reduce the rotation from 1080 degree into 900 or 720 degree, and it would work on GT5.

Anyone have tried this before?

Not 100% certain but, I think you can only do that on the PC version of GT5.

haha.. :dunce:

Well, I never tried since my PC is far far away from my cockpit.
But in PC it is possible to limit the rotation, right?
So the question : is the setting remains on the device driver (PC) or in the wheel's firmware ?

Fwiw it was posted "PC version of GT5"

GT5 is a PS3 game only. Surely you know this, just made a mistake.

There is a FAQ about this here in [Adjustable Rotation Angle]:
http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=2&pid=316&cid=6
Thanks for the link. Crystal !

To my understanding. I thought you could only adjust the rotation if you were using the T500 with a PC setup. Not an option with the PS3 console.

Right, I can do this on my PC. On the PS3, the developer sets the rotation angle but they never expose it to UI
yes you're right.
One thing I notice when using F2007, visibly the tires already reached max angle long before T500RS wheel reached max rotation. That's one hint.

I think he was joking :D

Just picked up my t500 rs and am extremely happy with it. Coming from the driving force gt, the quality is in a completely different league. The wheel ffb is amazing, and the pedals are great IMO, coming from the plastic dfgt ones. Definitely enough resistance to have precision on brake/throttle (unlike the dfgt)

Here's the youtube properly embedded. Darrin is racing with the shifter however TM is being lame and not letting them show us the shifter. They allude its going to be the best shifter on the market. Wonder how much money we talking bout here? Sucks it's still not done yet but guess they won't settle for nothing less than perfect

[edit] Just zip over to bout 6:20 for the T500rs shifter tease.

Shifter in the spyshot looks alot like the ACTLabs shifter.

If it is similar quality materials and action then it will be worth the $200+ I suspect they will be asking for the T500 shifter.

:)

I can report that 6 months later the T500/CSP/ACTLabs combo is still going strong.

I had the exact same issue right after getting mine. If you can still return to the retailer, I would recommend doing that to swap for a new one rather than calling in on the warranty. I opened my ticket on May 23rd, and finally got through the usual "check firmware" etc. script with them and approval to ship in to Guillemot repair on May 31. (They paid for UPS 2-day service both ways between me in the US and France, so at least there was that...)

UPS tracking says the repaired unit is finally supposed to arrive by end of business Thursday June 23.

The status update they sent me says some wires needed re-soldered on the PCB in the base, and were shipping it back with the latest firmware already installed.

I got much better results calling them for status updates than e-mailing, though the last time I checked in I spent 45 minutes "in queue" before someone answered. (Previous calls had all been answered within 2 minutes.)

Just got this repley email from Mary at Perfect Pedal.

Hello, Any chance you would make a Perfect Pedal for the new Thustmaster T500RS pedal set? Thanks,Ken

Hello Ken,

Yes there is a chance.... In fact we are currently working on it and hope to have it available soon. I will put you on our list and you can also check back with us in 30-days.

Thank you for your interest.

Cheers,
Mary

Can't wait to see what they have in store for our T500RS Brake Pedal.

Already RMA'd it, bought it from an online retailer so would of been a bit of hassel sending back to them.

Very pleased with Guillemot CS so far, although I had no reply from my email ticket. Luckily I got on the phone to them with no waiting and was sent an email with instructions with their RMA proceedure same night (monday). It's now only thursday and the wheel is pacakaged up ready for UPS to pick up today 👍

Sounds great, thanks for sharing this! :D I personally haven't gotten used to the brake pedals yet (not a lot of free time to race) so getting the perfect pedal will be as real as possible... and maybe would only require an easy learning curve. :D

2 things though: 1) with the $200+ price tag on the G25/G27 pedals, I hope it will have the same price too, or cheaper (wishful thinking :dopey:); 2) with the gated shifter coming (no price yet), that's another thing I need to consider saving up for...

Dead broke... Still saving up for my shakers (sorry Mr. Latte, I got too hyped about it and forgot that I still have to save up for it LOL!). Think, think, think...

Anybody need a kidney? LMAO! Kidding :sly:

Awesome news there. I'll see about emailing them as well so I can be put on a contact list as well 👍

I've been waiting since its been announced to get one based on whether the shifter was coming. I just got one online at futureshop.ca for $558 taxes in (2 hours of phone hell to get a price "beat" adjustment).

So, reading stuff like this does not make me a happy person. Sure I know its under warranty, but I do want to enjoy something I've been waiting half a year for without having to send it back within a week.

Jonzter and Kkalp...if you don't mind my asking, what level of FFB where you guys using?

Good to see you around; you were very helpful in getting me started on rFactor. Since this is T500rs + rFactor related- do you ever find yourself tweaking your MaxSteeringForce per mod? For instance, for enduracers I have to tweak my realFeel.ini and set it to like -2000. But other mods, like DRM, they just work wonderful out of the box

Let's see in my ini I have this for all Enduracers' cars:
MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-2300.000000

Good to hear that combo still works for you. What games are you playing actively these days RC?

T500RS has a very, very low fail rate. I personally run my ffb at like 8 in GT5 and really strong in rFactor. Ok in iRacing I am bout 25% now. But everyone knows iRacing is godlike strong FFB so I think 25% = GT5 around 10ish depending on the vehicle's physics

Found this on iRacing forum (you must be registered to read):

Derek Speare will release soon (for $34.75 + shipping) a quick adapter for real wheels (like Momo, OMP, Sparco or Nardi wheel) on T500 RS:

Well I checked the night before it happened because I was using the F2007 in an online race, and was thinking man.. the FFB on this wheel is incredibly strong (and I'm no weed either) anyway to my surprise I only had it on 3.
So it's not like having it all the way to 11 contributed to it or anything.

What settings do you use for iRacing?

You do know that the creator of FFB has a special note to follow in terms of FFB T500 RS?

Really where can I find these settings? Right now I'm using 900 for wheel rotation and probably the suggested settings for rFactor. but I play iRacing more so I could use though settings instead...
