Well I was always prepared for the possibility we would never get a shifter. So I was ok with that. But after they released those spy photos that made me want that shifter so bad đź‘Ť

Better yet T500 users prob not looking at Fanatecs shifter. So delaying the release is completely ludicrous.

THIS.
Even though I'm a to-be owner of T500 (incoming as some of you know :D) I can understand your frustration.
Either there is a Shifter or there isn't.
Promising and then NOT delivering is BS.

LOL, I almost read the logo as T Haters. I'm excited for more news. I expect the shifter will be at least as robust as the pedals.

Where did they promise a June release? I recall on the facebook page they did hint around summer but they removed that quote a long time ago. I suspect they realized they would be running behind.

Whats more disturbing is what ps3 games will even support the shifter when it's released? PD/Kaz better have a patch ready for their official wheel to use the shifter lmao

I think Owen, originally they had more time to release this due to GT5.

As we all know GT5 was pressured out the door. I'm sure the full product would have been available at GT's intended release date.

I think TM are just taking the Flack for others in this incident.

Very good point!!!!

This is why I love this place. Open minds and great discussions.

Talking of open minds and great discussions. I say tosh. Whilst I can accept the delay past the clearly brought forward gt5 release for the steering wheel. I can't accept a further delay on the shifter release. They should have been working on the two concurrently. If someone made the decision to take the resource away from developing the shifter to get the steering wheel out ASAP then that person is an arse. It would also speak to some extremely limited resources at TM and an incredibly rushed release for the wheel which explains some of us early adopters teething troubles.

Rant over, release it already.

I'm wondering if there may be some delay for this (and other things) because of the demand on China to manufacture almost everything under the sun...

It probably would've stung a lot less if I personally could've at least seen ISR use the shifter. I guess the shifter they were using didnt have paint on it or something

Even still, no info when we can order the thing? I just want to know should i just order a PC shifter for now. If this is not made clear by the 17th Technical support will hear from me again.

I wish I could speak French I'd call everyone under the sun at TM til this info was released

* Would obviously be much preferred to get a ps3 compat shifter for GT5/Dirt3 PS3

My 5 week old T500 stopped working today. It was removed it from the cockpit to do some work on the frame but now after setting up the cockpit again and firing up the PS3 , it isn't being detected. I plugged it into my PC and prepared to update firmware / drivers etc but the wheel is not being detected by the PC either.

I have emailed Thrustmaster for support just now , awaiting a reply.

Can anyone shed some light on what may possibly have happened ? The wheel was not dropped during disassembly of the cockpit , but placed gently on the floor. If something has broken or failed during this time then I am seriously disappointed with the build quality of what I considered to be a premium level product , especially considering the price tag.

Cheers.

Back to the DS3 for now......:grumpy:

Update: I unplugged the pedals , pressed L3 R3 , plugged into the PC , held buttons down for a further 5 seconds and my PC detected the wheel , I was able to apply the firmware update.

Definitely something wrong with the pedals though. My PS3 will start and now detect the wheel with pedals unplugged but not with them connected.

Slightly less angry and stressed but its not over yet TM Grrr :grumpy:

Ok!
My T500 is like one week away.
Please give me something to do in the meanwhile.
Like, a list of things I should when I first get my wheel.

I'm going to order the T500 in a week, my hands get tighter the closer the day comes for that call. But to the point, I've looked over a almost everyone's post and found some very good information. I haven't found anything on cooling or over heating. Can any help me on this subject?

^^^^ Not sure what you mean? You want to find more info bout broken T500RS???

@MuRRe

1. Put in that realistic brake mod if you find you have issues with driving with ABS off. For GT5 you can always run with it on but for PC sims like iRacing they make you turn it off til iRacing 2.0 hits

2. Try out rFactor and download that CTDP 2006 mod for it. It includes realFeel + leoFFB mods + a fancy ingame UI to tweak the FFB settings. Over time I have found I've had to tweak my MaxSteeringForce on a per mod basis. For formula one mods I turn it down to like -2500 along with Enduracers. Get good maps for rFactor to like those made by Com8 and Eastern Creek MM + Targo Florio (its an hour long track almost, amazing ) :dopey: Keep in mind rFactor has an ini setting for Steering Wheel Range. You have to set it to match what your wheel is set to. rFactor might be a rough transition coming from console tho cause you have to learn to setup the mods. But once you do you'll get blown away

3. iRacing comes out of the box with nice FFB. So does GTR Evolution. I would say Dirt 3 is very strong too đź‘Ť

Thanks.
Exactly the kind of info I was looking for.
rFactor, is it still worth it even though I go for iRacing?

iRacing is great for the online community and detailed physics. But when you want to tryout different cars, physics, & tracks, rFactor is a must have. It has so many cars & tracks made to a professional level its very impressive. For only like $20 or so its a real steal. đź‘Ť

Hm, today is the 17th where is our shifter announcements? I guess we should be checking Facebook or don't expect any news til next week

Nooo, August 17th is when that convention goes down. Grr..... I thought it was today lol

It's kinda ****ed up with rFactor.
35 Euros
40 dollars
25 pounds
Why is it SO much more expensive in euros?

With the 1.06 or 1.07 update (not sure which one that fixed it), braking without ABS is not as hard as it was prior to one of these updates. Obviously you will still be able to lock the brake but with anything more than Comfort Soft tires, it's not much of a problem. Of course, it's always good to turn the brake strength down a bit (5/5 is a bit too much anyway). With production cars I usually keep it around 3:1 (although I prefer 1:1 with older cars) but jack it up slightly to 4:2 or 4:3 with race cars.

It is the only solution. I have not been offered alternatives.

I suppose I could claim a repair, but I prefer not to stay for several days without the wheel.

But, I have insisted that this solution only works if they do not cancel the rest of the guarantee by the fact fix it myself.

I inform you of the result.

Incorrect part received... They has sent me a top cover with fan:

I've been reading the instructions included for replacing this piece (the top cover), and I personally refuse to replace it myself if I had the broken fan: it's too complex, and require dismantling half the wheel.

I hate that Thrustmaster delegated responsibility for a repair like that on the users themselves, especially when some users have replaced the whole wheel because of problems with the fan.

I am a little confused about what you have posted here. Was Thrustmaster's response to a QA issue that you perform a complex repair to the wheel yourself, or was that your choice because you did not want to be without a wheel? I read it first as they didn't give you a choice in the matter and later that it was to avoid having to ship the wheel back for repairs.

If they would send parts to a consumer w/ instructions and allow them to repair their own wheel while at the same time still honoring the warranty, I find that pretty cool.

That's a pretty standard complaint I've read against multiple racing wheel equipment suppliers but its unfortunately very routine. It's simply not feasible to pay for shipping when you can instead get the customer to fix it themselves if it is something fairly simple. But maybe in this case since you find the instructions very complicated you should pursue getting them to do it themselves or get the tech support to stay on the phone with you to walk you through the process

That stinks they sent you the wrong part. Bad form yo!

Make sure you mount the wheel permanently, using the bolt holes. The clamp really isn't adequate for holding it in place. I've had mine for about 3 months, and I just mounted it permanently 2 weeks ago. I was not consciously aware of it, but after running with it mounted permanently, I'm pretty sure I was compensating for the tendency of the wheel to twist on my stand by driving less aggressively.
