This wheel looks exactly like the t500 with the red stripe on the wheel and those strips along the base..

That wheel is logitech momo and looks nothing like T500 RS

Also the sifter does sound very high tech.

Not sure if anyone has posted this - http://www.thrustmastert500rs.com/
I had an old Thrustmaster wheel back in the day, it had brake and accelerator paddles and quick shift gear paddles all on the wheel, which was great as you didnt need to use the peddles or if you had a dissability. This unit was for the pc only though but was like wrestling a gorilla in the way of force feedback.

What a stupid idea to make such a website. And he isn't crediting anyone for giving him the information, since right now he is updating the website with whatever I update this thread with. 👎

EDIT: Website admin contacted me with his apologies, explaining that it wasn't supposed to go public yet. So sorry for the rudeness.

I'm suprised this isn't coming out for x-mas, or this year at all.

Makes me think that the game maybe was pushed out far before Kaz would have liked, because it doesn't make sense to release an official wheel AFTER the game is out.

Yeah Thrustmaster will miss many sales! They miss the christmas sales and also most people thinks about to buy an new wheel for GT5... But if it will took another 2 months to release, I´ll take the Fanatec V2...

But everything PD touches is coming late... so it seems normal...

I have a G27 on ordrer for my playseat GT, I was think about cancelling and waiting for the T500RS just changed my mind after seeing the price of there Warthog joystick which feature the same technology........ and that just a joystick.................:scared:

Anyone know if this new relationship between PD and Thrustmaster is going to change the rules for the GT Academy finals?

From the GT Academy rules:
"Contest Race Round 4. Race Round 4 is the final round of the Contest and will take place in March 2011 (“National Finals”). In the National Finals, contestants will be required to compete using Gran Turismo®5 with Logitech Driving Force™ GT wheel controllers. DualShock® controllers will not be allowed."

I was all set to buy a nice setup, most likely the Fantetic Clubsport pedals (they have a load sensor brake pedal), but opted for the DFGT so my experience would be apples-to-apples with the Academy finals, if by some miracle I make it there. Hate to have undercut wheel quality only to have PD pull a bait and switch on me

I bet they switch the wheel. This is a great opportunity to showcase the new wheel. This is just a case of 1 hand not knowing what the other is doing and Thrustmaster would not be happy since they are paying to be the new official wheel. (Then again logitech could have paid to be exclusive for that tournament but that seems unlikely seeing the treatment they receive in gt5 for the g25 and g27)

As the owner of a Warthog, I am guessing this wheel/pedal set will retail for about $500.

Having said that, the Warthog is an engineering marvel.

The Warthog isn't "just a joystick". You get a stick and split-throttle combo modeled after the A-10C HOTAS, detailed down to the amount of pressure it takes to push the buttons and a partial left-side panel as part of the throttle unit. It also auto-configures for the DCS A-10C simulator and has LED lights so you can see the switches/toggles at night on the throttle unit. In addition, it has HALL technology so no more pot issues.

Gah, don't know what to do. Thinking about getting a DFGT for Christmas, but now I don't know if I should wait it out, save my money, and buy a Thrustmaster when it eventually gets released... Although it's likely that it could still be months from now :/

Kinda hard to tell by the pics but is that perforated leather, plastic or rubber matertial for the wheel?!? I'm dissappointed it doesn't have the DFGT-style knob/dial for real-time adjustments (since it's already in the game). Maybe that's a Logitech patent or exclusive. Oh well.

I hope it's leather especially for that kinda $$$! Just went on Amazon's website to check current pricing for their other H.E.A.R.T. magnetic product (Warthog) & wow...$534 USD!!! That's boo-coo $$$ so I'm expecting this wheel to sell for around $500...It better be hot sex in my hands & feet, LOL!

I was in the same boat.
My conclusion (so I don't have to wait too long) --> Get the Fanatec 911 Carrera wheel. It comes with pedals + clutch and 6-speed shifter, as well as many tuning options; all at the price of 159,99€. That's a bargain!

👍

I just did the same, for pretty much the same reasons. ;) I also added on paddle-shifters.

500 bucks is more than a new PS3 and the most expensive version of GT5 combined, which is simply said, ridiculous.

well I just bought the driving force gt wheel...The Carrera wheel is $50 more, and looks nice...But, you gotta add the paddle shifters for some reason, why doesn't it come with those? And, what about a stand for it? Their stand is out of stock, so I dunno what I would do...Any help here is appreciated, i'm fairly new to wheels...I bought a G27 a few months ago and tried it out, but it was so different from playing with a controller, I gave up on it...But, you guys seem to insist that using a wheel is the way to go, so i'm willing to try it out again...Also, what about compatibality with GT? I like that the driving force gt is the official wheel for GT, but is that overrated? I want compatibility with the PS2 too, as i'm just getting into GT4

I'm so pissed PD still hasn't covered the g25/g27. anyone know if they are eventually planning to implement its controls into gt5?

Can I venture to guess that people who love this game don't have a PROPER wheel to play GT5? (Man pedal and actual H-pattern shifter = PROPER)
