I find unbelivable that this will even be mountable on the table.

Have no real info, but the whole "engine bay" looks like it will demand some kind of special mounting on sides - not on bottom, as Logitech/Fanatec have at this point.

I think this is more likely the way it will be mounted.

I also think those lateral "mounts" could be mounts for the optional shifter/s.

The over sized paddle shifter looks too close to the wheel rim. It seems there isn't enough clearance for fingers to rap around the wheel comfortably. Or it could be some kind of optical illusion : )

Read the OP, scroll down to the updates.

Yeah I have done that already last week but on the op it says 500$ what makes 370€... And i´ve heared that it will be cost 500€ = 660$ (RUMOURS)

So Fanatec does the same, the wheel costs 499$ in the US and 499€ in the EU :ouch:

What are those vents for? Is it to keep the wheel itself cool or something else? speakers maybe? Does anybody know?

By the look of the wheel, it looks like you might be able to set/unset a "lock" to the paddle shifters, making it optional if you want it to turn with the wheel (F1) or not (Production paddle shifter cars).

Look closely. It looks like it has separate rotating parts. (Sorry about my English, I don't know what the rotating parts are called.)

The wheel rim itself and thumb positions look nice. But I'm a bit at odds with the button placement. Wouldn't it make more sense to have L2/R2 closer to the outside. And putting the 'O' so close to the finger position could be a bit awkward. But it's hard to tell from a picture. I guess I'd have to get my hands on it to know for sure.

America doesn't have VAT taxes, which brings in the cheaper prices. In other words, like you kind of said, for this wheel: 500$ = 500€.

To me, once we know it's technical capabilities, it's build quality and its price, the next most important question, and others have already raised this, is if it will have standard (as claimed by Logitech) mounting positions. A lot of people who already own Playseats or Visionracers will likely be more apt to buy this wheel if they know it will be a straight swap for the G25/G27 and they can simply bolt it down on their current hardware.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of how it looks. But if really performs above and beyond what the G27 can do (and more aggravating than anything, that GT5 doesn't officially support the G25/G27) I would consider it.

I just think a lot of politics are being played here between PD, Sony and Logitech. There is no reason why PD would not have included full support for Logitech's premium wheels other than their deal with Thrustmaster. It does leave a bit of a sour taste.

I had no idea that these wheels aren't supported for GT5. Is it dampening the experience much? I noticed both you and Biggles seem pretty impressed with the game's handling.

The actual wheel and pedals seem to work quite well, the G27 however is has two buttons on the shifter that don't work (L3 and R3) and 4 on the wheel that don't work (note these all work in other games to some extent - even in GT5P so it's not a hardware or driver issue) and you CANNOT assign RA menu to any button... the only way to access RA menu is to turn a controller on, set it to controller 1 and use that to get the menu up.

Ok, thanks. How's the FFB? In comparison to GT5P/GT5D would you say (I use a G25)?

From what I've had here for review purposes and own wheels my sound ratings from loud to quiet would be: (I only mention wheels > €80)

Loud to quiet:
1. Logitech DFP (straight gears)
2. Logitech DFGT (straight gears)
3. Logitech G25 (straight gears)
4. Logitech MOMO red (straight gears)
5. Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo wheel (belt drive)
6. Logitech G27 (helical gears)
7. Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS (belt drive)
8. Thrustmaster F430 (not that cockpit thing) (belt drive)

PWTS and the gt3rs are the same mechanically so your list is by default wrong.

That's not my issue at all. With the G27 you can not even alter the FFB setting. Adjusting it to 1 or to 10 makes no difference. I'm beginning to suspect that many people with a G27 don't even realize how limited it is.

That said, all things considered, it does at least work and you can use the clutch. I just think it's ridiculous that the G25/G27 which have been out for 3/1 years are not 'officially' supported but the T500RS is, and it doesn't even have a street date yet.

On the G27 however, shifting lights reportedly work. Surely they must not be working merely by chance (as rpm information must be sent to the wheel, and that is the only wheel with this feature to my knowledge), so I suspect that PD either tried to support it, but full support has not been not completed yet due to time constraints (although after three patches one would expect that this popular wheel would get fully supported), or they deliberately did not offer full support due to unknown circumstances (most likely marketing reasons, in case).
I did order a G27 yesterday hoping it will get supported fully (configurable buttons and feedback) at some point, by the way.

I don´t get why people hate it so much becuse of the price. Remember when Driving Force GT were announced and alot of people made comments like "omg I will keep my G25" and so on. People back when were expecting the new GT wheel to be of way higher quality than previous GT Wheels. And now we finally get a high quality GT wheel for the PS3 with metal construction and people tell it´s gonna be bad before they have even read any review.

Well, you have to agree that many players and members here are young, have no real money or incomes and they feel frustrated because they can't afford something. And they're very vocal because of it, so perception is that it is too expensive, blah, blah, blah.

I have just spent serious money on new Fanatec GT3 RSV2 Clubsport Edition+Shifters+Clusport Pedals Tuning Kit and I can tell you it was very expensive even without postage and shipping, VAT and rest of the costs.

However, I can't wait to try T500RS and buy it immediately if it is good, even if it costs assumed 500 euros. It will still be cheaper than iPhone for instance (when sold without contract) and it is just matter of personal priorities.

And I live in Croatia with GDP much lower than in rest of Europe.

Anyway, that's how I see it. And I'm a bit irked by it. I probably would have had an interest to 'try' the T500 Rs anyway. But the support issue of other wheels just rubs me the wrong way.

Yes they are....

I have tested every wheel on the list, and the Fanatec wheels are easily the quietest. The helical gears in the G27 are smoother than the old straight cut gears. However, they still make a lot of noise compared to any belt driven wheel.

;)

Agreed.

My G27 is quieter and less resistance than my Gt3 Rs v2. I can clearly hear the Gt3 RS motor wining as I turn the wheel. G27 is very quiet except when the motor are spinning back and forward rapidly like on dirt. G27 take less energy to turn free wheel (FFB is off) than the Fanatec.
It feels and sounds like the Gt3 RS motor has to spin more per degree of wheel rotation than the two G27 motors are.

I think, even at $500, if the performance and most vitally, the durability, is top notch these things will move. Thanks I'm sure to GT5, you can't find a G27 any more, and I'm still using my 6 year old (and still like new) DFP.

I love the new pedals, am not sure about the "sold separately" shifter (although if it lets them make a MUCH better shifter, I'm for it) and am also very interested in how this wheel will mount up, and the shifter as well... the terrible shifter mounting options kinda killed the Fanatec wheels for me, although if the Clubsport shifter beats the T500 out, who knows?

I think they will price at 499.99 at first, now the question is, will it sell? In order to sell this wheel must be awesome compared to the G27, 10x better as a matter of fact.

I like this wheel so far because:

  • It looks good
  • KY is very exited about it
  • The new H.E.A.R.T technology
  • 16 bit resolution
  • 1080 degrees of rotation and adjustable
  • You can reverse mount the pedals or the typical way
  • Brake pedal with adjustable enhanced resistance
  • Although much more expensive this way but I like it that the shifter is sold seperatly. It can only mean (my personal opinion, not a fact) that the shifter is something special with probably new technology.
  • [joke]build in speakers and wind simulation[/end joke] :P

Just letting you guys know, but there is a thrustmaster in my local future shop.
I dont remember the exact name, but its a thrust master ferrari wheel. I think I saw a GT5 logo on it too!

Interesting notes: Nice replica ferrari wheel.
Comes with something like a "Wheel stand pro" in the box.

Had anyone heard of a release date yet? Also, do peripherals ever get a price reduction? Hopefully, the people that do buy it when it comes out gives off feedback. Cause I just bought a driving force gt but my experience isn't that great I could see improvements in my wheel

I just figured out to ship a basic Playseat to Malaysia will require RM2600 ( after conversion ) and monthly income rate at here, Malaysia is like rm3000

G27 ~ RM950
GT5 ~ RM240
PS3 Titanium Blue + GT5 ~ 1500

This hobby is expensive
