Had anyone heard of a release date yet? Also, do peripherals ever get a price reduction? Hopefully, the people that do buy it when it comes out gives off feedback. Cause I just bought a driving force gt but my experience isn't that great I could see improvements in my wheel

Yes they do sometimes, and often they can be had on sale. Amazon had the DFGT on sale for $70 after rebate and right now if you have a Best Buy near you and a Frys, you can price match and send in a rebate to still get it down to $70.

There are ways.

do you mean this?

Yes, thats the one

I believe that has no force feedback whatsoever. I think it's an elegant solution to those who don't have a playseat, but the lack of force feedback kills it.

That's correct; the wheel has no FFB. For me, that was a deal-killer. It doesn't have the greatest reviews on Amazon, either, which didn't help.

It's too bad, really, it's a neat concept. But lack of FFB, no clutch, and generally mediocre to unfavorable reviews made me go with the Fanatec 911 Carrera wheel instead. At least, until there are reviews of the new Thrustmaster and GT2 out. ;)

Ah ok. Well I hope that the wheel if it's any good does get a price reduction. Hopefully, soon. Well that and I would need to know if it's worth it.

The wheel looks good, but is it honestly that better than G27? I don't really think so! The wheel doesn't even come with an actual H Shifter shipped with it! Plus they still expect us to pay up $500?

I wish Polophony just stuck with Logitech! They make quality goods for an affordable price! They should work on a new "G" wheel or something!

can the shift knob be put ont the left side?, so it is like for people who have right hand drive cars

The shifter will be sold separately (no one has seen it yet) so you should be able to mount it where ever you want, at least that is what i'm thinking.

Hopefully before next summer, lol.

Last i read was there would be no more info till the Electronics Show in Las Vegas which is in early January. Lets hope shortly after that the stores will be full. :)

This will be high on my list of stuff to see when I'm at CES!
Hopefully I'll get some hands on time in GT5 to see if I'll be replacing my G27 with this wheel. :sly:

My main issue is it's compatability with the conventional chassis currently on the market. The Playseat Evo for instance comes pre-drilled to hard mount both the wheel and the pedal assembly. The footplate is designed to have the option to offset it to center the brake and throttle pedal for those not using the clutch function. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it seems to appear as though the brake and throttle pedal are quite close together. The Playseat Evo has the upright for the wheel mount fairly close to the footplate which might compromise foot to pedal contact. I'm not sure from the photos if the current design foot plate would even accomodate mounting the Thrustmaster pedal assembly. For instance, the rather long "footrest" on the Thrustmaster extends rearward much more than the Playseat upright would allow. Why would PD be so eager to obsolete 50% of the chassis currently in use :nervous:

Good to know that my Obutto will be able to handle all of the action with this wheel :sly:

Insidesimracing have said they will have one to review soon. Since they are fans of Fanatec and have already gone on record saying the GT2/Fanatec wheels are by far the best for GT5 I'll be holding off for their review, I would be surprised if they don't make some type of comparison to the Fanatec wheels/pedals.

The Thrustmaster Pedals look fantastic. Can't they be switched from GT style (inverted) to F1 style (like G27) without doing anything fancy?

Also, it's about time that Wheel manufacturers started to use the Hall Effect (used in most e-triggers for paintball guns nowadays)
Because it uses magnetism and i believe it doesn't use parts that touch each other, the wear rate is very slow.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I agree however realism is the most important aspect in a pedal closely followed by configurability.

The clubsport pedals stand out with a load cell brake and the ability to adjust both feel and sensitivity of the pedals. I don't for a second believe that load cell is the only way to build a realistic gradient pressure style brake so I am hopeful that the Thrustmaster pedals will offer both a realistic feel and adjustability but at the price they will hit the market they need to be at least as good as the clubsport pedals and not give anything away in customisable sensitivity mapping or hardware customisation and more important than anything the brake must have an adjustable gradient pressure response. If the brake has this and the clutch has an adjustable range of slip and you are able to customise pedal pressure to taste the Thrustmaster will be the wheel to get otherwise I'll be grabbing the Fanatec.

Those pedals are going to really have to outshine the fanatic ones for me to be halfway interested. That is one ugly pedal set. Bulky as all get up. Performance over appearance I know but I need that cool factor as well before spending the money. Right now clubsports are by far #1 in that category.

Is the "16+" a joke? Or is it because due to the fixed paddle shifters and the force feedback strength it could be dangerous?

I really want to get this, even though I bought a DFGT not to long ago...

Just hope I don't break my arms!
I just recently bought a DFGT too, and I love it. No regrets.
I'll be getting a wheel with clutch and H-shifter next year, so this one is top on my list right now, unless it turns out it's worse then the fanatec wheels which I highly doubt from the information we have up until now.

Wait, how do you know they are fixed? The animation shows them rotating with the wheel.
From the Flash animation they appear indeed to rotate with the wheel, but if you look at how they're hinged, that doesn't make much sense, unless it will be possible to choose two modes of operation: rotating/F1, fixed/GT, a bit like the pedals.

That was my guess after I saw it for the first time too. It looks like it's hinged to be fixed, and the rotating bezel seems to be separate from the wheels rotation, making it look like it's either fixed or optional.

I believe it was said earlier in this thread that you can switch from wheel mount or column mount paddles
