You could also state the other point of view, namely the other wheels are just that small. :sly:

Correct. When I tried G27 after T500rs it feels like toy. Small wheel,I set ffb to 10 on g27 and it feels like the ff is not working or very weak. I use ffb of 6 on the t500.

But g27 is a great wheel.

Yes, it does feel a bit "toy-ish". The good thing about G25 size is that it neither too big nor too small hence making it the perfect "one size fits all" wheel if you're into road car/GT as well as F1/Open Wheel racing. With the T500RS, driving a modern LMPs, for example, can feel a bit weird. Fanatec took the same approach (as Logitech) with the CSR-E rim.

Yeah the T500 is by far the biggest wheel I've ever owned. It feels like a real car wheel. I had to beef up my desk a little to accommodate this massive thing

I believe the Amazon offer was $550 (not 100% which currency that was in though??) the price in Australia is AUD$725 without the shifter which is AUD$260 (the company I used was Pagnian Imports and they provide free Australia wide shipping in the price)
Depending on the shipping cost's from overseas though it would probably be fairly similar, although there was an Amazon deal that included the shifter (again not 100% on the price of the package either - can't find it maybe a quick search of this thread will reveal all :) )

Hope this helps.

Actually, it'd be cheaper to buy both the wheel and the shifter (399€ + 149€) in France and ship it to Australia. Oo

Hi there, I've just bought one of these wheels and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a stand for the thing (currently got it on the dining room table - far from ideal!)

I'm looking for a small but solid one that can fold flat (found something like this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steering-Wheel-Stand-PS3-GT5-Logitech-G25-Logitech-G27-Thrustmaster-/150729921298?pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item2318341312)

However, judging by how it shakes my table I'm not sure one of these will be sturdy enough. I don't have room for a rig with a chair unfortunately - I have a couple of good chairs ideal for this in my lounge anyway.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thrustmaster actually answered my question about the 24h race.

Dear Mr. S,

Thank you for your E-Mail regarding your T500 RS.

Unfortunately, since the T500 RS Wheel is a gaming device, it was not yet tested to run for 24 straight Hours.

However, if you plan on using it for 24 Hours in a cool, well ventilated room, then it should behave perfectly normal.

Finally, if during play the T500 RS Wheel shows signs of abnormal behavior, such as excessive FAN noise or a "burnt plastic" smell, then please stop using it and contact us back.

Congratulations on your enthusiasm and thank you for your interest.

Looks like a cheap version of the Wheelstand Pro,

I have the a WSP (Deluxe) and a T500 and use FFB10, it doesnt move at all and it is very sturdy plus it can be folded away when required. 👍

yup. just bought Th8RS from Amazon for $149 best analogue handbrake ever.

the Wheel as Ben Said is $725 , what i mean by sale is on christmas they drop the price to $381 , that plus shipping is around $400 . what are the chances that' s happening aye

no worries. I got my GT3RS until the next sale i guess.

Do you know if there an area to mount TH8RS on the deluxe stand?? I'm thinking of getting one.

I totally agree with this. The G25 does look "small" (certainly compared to the T500), but the leather wrap + steel is a very cool look - generic, but aggressive & "custom" looking. It feels "right" for road car/GT as well as F1/Open wheel style racing. In addition, it feels appropriate for vintage cars, which I particularly enjoy driving. None of the other high end wheel rims by Thrustmaster or Fanatec (so far) has that same kind of general versatility. My hope is that Fanatec will put out a rim for the CSPW that has the same generic, non-branded, leather-wrapped look as the G25.

If you buy the one for the T500RS then it comes with the TH8RS mount (which I didn't use) and the G27 shifter mount which I used mounted upside down. It works pretty good.

Thrustmaster actually answered my question about the 24h race.

I'm quite disappointed in that answer really. It seems a sim racing tool of 500 euros still qualifies as a toy according to them. I know the serious sim racers around the far corners of our globe didn't see this as a toy but a serious piece of kit for some serious racing when they bought it, something that'll last through 24 hours of hardships.

Sadly, I can say it doesn't even last 1 hour on the Nordschleife in GTR Evolution before the feedback starts to weaken. I had this happen to me tonight sadly enough.

For me all of this is a big thumbs down for Thrustmaster as they failed to reach the right audience for one (casual racer) and disappointed another category of people (serious sim racer) because they can't use it the way they expected to (full FFB for a long time). 👎

Also I am surprised this wasn't caught in beta testing either? Where is that beta tester that lurks around here. Maybe he can shed a light on how this happened.

We can look at the situation like this:

Try to use normal car or even a racing car for 24 hours(hard driving), do you think it will make it?

I dont think so. But to use T500 for 2 or 3 hours, it should work perfectly, I agree with that.

We must have objective expectations from the sim hardware.

I bet that the Frex should make it normaly for the 24 hours, but we know what is the price. That is serious sim hardware.

Why? The answer quite likely came from a bean counter from Thrustmaster. Likely someone from the PR department who checked her computer for an off the wall reply. (No offense intended to her)

I would have replied something like "put your pedal to the metal" The T500 is a great wheel but you do get a wheel and pedals for $500 so IMO it is not intended to be high end Sim racing gear, perhaps in between that and a toy?

When I bought mine from the store about a year ago, I returned 3 of the 4 they had due to initial product issues. As far as extended warranties, they wouldn't even touch it. Perhaps they've changed now though.

I tried SquareTrade and they won't do it either. 2 years from TM isn't bad, plus most extended warranties only go 3 years. And very rarely do they start when the manufacture ends so your really paying all that money for 1 year.

American Express gives you an extra year starting from the end of the manufactures so that's your best bet if your looking for an extended warranty.

I guess we have different values of money then. Seriously not designing proper cooling is just a lack of testing. Putting a bigger fan in it and redesigning the plastic cover a bit differently would be easy enough to do. Also a bigger fan wouldn't really cost more or barely at least when massively purchased for product manufacturing.

As I wrote. I experienced a FFB power drop while at driver defaults at around 25 minutes of use in GTR Evolution on the Nordschleife with a WTCC Extreme car. Now imagine doing the 24hour of the Nurburgring with it? It could be done if it just had better cooling. ;)

cheers.
Lol I just created acount and international shipping to au is $391 +399 hahaha
guess I'll wait for amazon, they did $28 shipping last time it the wheel was $381

so regretting not getting it before. :ouch:

Fry's is a reputable brick and mortar store as well as online sales. I purchased a T500 from them in November but returned it opened no questions asked when Costco had the bundle sale. They have a good 30 day return policy.
