Paul,

Do you have other info on the pedals? I don't remember seeing anything close enough and good enough quality to see if they were indeed different/plastic.

Hi Mrbasher, :)

If the pedals for the TM Xbone wheel are of poor quality, can we expect an adapter from you so we can use the Fanatec CSPv2 pedals and maybe even the Fanatec CSS? 💡

What's painful, a little, is that I am certain there is at least one of these sitting in an office just up the road from me right now. (@ Microsoft) :)

As for an adapter... Well, I happen to have something to handle the pedal issues already, at least on the T500RS. ;) Actually, about 10 people have the hardware necessary already, they just don't know it... When the time is right, I'll make clear what the heck I'm talking about. :)

The CSS is another story entirely. It would be quite simple to just emulate a TH8RS on the PS3 and interface with the CSS. However, I will not do that, at least I won't sell something like that. Ethically, I do not believe it is right. (Piggy-backing on the license Thrustmaster paid for in order to sell what would essentially be a competing product)

Would be interesting to know, if a wheel is allowed to have more generic buttons than the console controller layout has, if it is 'officially' compatible with one of the nextgen consoles.
Or a not endorsed wheel that at least on PS4 allows full 'racing' functionality without needing a share button and a touchpad.

I've seen a bigger picture of it. It really does seem like a slightly modified T500 base with a custom wheel for the Xbox. But, if E3 was any indication, the pedals may be a trainwreck (they were cheap plastic). If they were using a different motor in it, I don't see why they'd keep such a similar base in terms of layout.

The "Mode" switch on the lower left of the wheel base matches the pedal mode switch on the current T500RS wheel. That would indicate pedals that can be inverted, if the "Mode" functionality matches the T500RS mode functionality.

Here are some shots of the pedals from E3 from a video posted here on the GTPlanet site (earlier in this very thread, perhaps?) -- I think these were identified as "T100" pedals at the time (not 100% certain on that):

Being quite familiar with the T500 pedals, I have to say that these pedals look like a more "commercialized" version of the T500 pedals, minus the "flip-over" bar. I'm betting they are constructed the same way, but maybe using more plastic and less metal.

If that's the case, that bodes well for potential modifications.

:)

First picture: I see a clutch! Have not seen a clutch being mentioned on sites though (amazon talks only about metal gas an pd brake). So yeah, not sure if these pedals are the ones that will be included.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Someone made an excellent point about Thrustmaster and Madcatz both showing their Xbox wheels at Gamescom. And noting this was the premier show in Germany... Fanatec's home country. It does speak volumes that no one has heard a single peep from Fanatec during this show. I don't expect those Fanatec wheels to be compatible with Xbox One and unfortunately, I'm beginning to get the impression that maybe Sony is going to copy this tactic with PS4.

It says in the description that it is a bungee cord wheel. 👎 Might be some encouragement that it also says it is auto detected by ps4, maybe theres hope in that statement for current wheels.

Thanks for the reply Mrbasher 👍

My main concern would be having to connect my CSPv2 pedals with another non Fanatec wheel for the Xbone.

First official PS4 wheel for 100 euro.. With the "Share", "Options" and "PS" buttons, yeah very important buttons..
oh man no good signs these days for PS3 compatible wheel owners...

All PS3 compatible wheels to work on PS4

Posted on 19/06/2013 on http://www.simdriving.net/news/all-ps3-compatible-wheels-to-work-on-ps4

Col Rodgers, Game Director on upcoming PS4 racing game DriveClub, has confirmed all current commercial racing wheels compatible with PlayStation 3 will also be fully compatible with PlayStation 4.

Doubts about compatibility started to arise a month ago when Microsoft announced their new XBOX One isn’t going to be compatible with any XBOX360 accessories, including their own Microsoft Wheel or current wheels from companies like Fanatec and MadCatz.

Fortunately racing wheel owners interested in PS4 have nothing to worry about.

I thought that whole thing had been somewhat debunked. I thought he was referring to the wheels working with the dev kit. Which makes perfect sense. Because USB wheels would work just fine with PS4. Just like they should have worked just fine with XBox 360. It's whether corporate decides to take active measures to lock wheels out. And this is where Sony has never declared wheels are guaranteed to work on PS4.

I have had my T500RS for two weeks and the right paddle switch is already dead.

Are these notoriously fragile? I assume TS support will issue a replacement?

Purchased from Amazon.

That's just being unlucky. They shouldn't die that quickly.
Warranty case. Most likely you will get new switches and replacement instructions send to you when you contact TM support.

That's stinks. However I'd order the switches Bodin has. Since your there might as well put in switches of higher quality. ;)

Good idea Owens :)

Would that void my warranty though?

Doubt it. If you can remove the pedal shifters legally (see latest SimRacingTonight video) than you can also legally switch out the switches as it's the same amount of steps you need to do. Well one extra step take out the old switches and insert the new.

Just keep the old switches around just in case if you are unsure.

Sweet! I'll check it out when I get home from GT Academy.

I plan on taking a pretty long hiatus from GT5 anyway after this weekend so it's not a huge deal.

Thanks for your help guys :)

unlucky, these are pretty sturdy wheels. I only had a pedal spring break on mine and I have had it since launch. TM sent me replacement spring and it was an easy fix.

Anyway Amazon will replace it for you since less than 30 days.

Personally, I would go for the replacement 👍.

I've been experiencing a, well, strange thing from the wheel on my computer, while in game, lately. It honestly feels like the wheel's developing a deadzone. I tried connecting the wheel to my PS3, with no such problem, and the software shows every single .1° on the computer... Could it simply just be the game, on my computer ?

I'd get a replacement from Amazon as well....then get the Bodin switches, put them in, keep TM switches as backup, and you're set for 10million clicks :)

Do you see a deadzone in the driver software when you move the wheel?

I finally snapped and had it with all the noise coming from the GTE add-on wheel. Just constant creaking noises. Not only that, but while I'm 99.999 percent certain I originally tightened all the screws on it, the three screws attaching the wheel had become super lose (despite the terrible wobble, I'd assumed those 3 "free" spinning screws were the cosmetic screws). I think they loosened because of how much flex there is with the design (which also creates all the creaking noises). So I decided to take it apart and tighten up the gaps between the wheel and the main housing.

The arrows I'm pointing at is just cut pieces of this:

Padded felt with stickied tape on the other side.

That kept the side "wings" from being able to flex quite a bit. But there was still a significant gap on the top corners that allowed a lot of play. So I grabbed some two sided silicon tape I had:

And put a little square on the top left and right. I haven't cut the excess bit off yet (so I could take a picture that showed where it was).

I didn't do anything to the bottom section (there's a tiny gap that could easily be fixed with some super glue). But this has tightened everything up considerably. No more constant creaking. Played quite a bit of the Clio on Lime Rock (rf2) and the Mazda on Summit Point (iracing) and didn't hear a single creaking noise. Granted I'm wearing headphones, but that never stopped me from hearing constant noises before.

P.S. How great is this Grant 10 inch wheel:

GRT-613-4_xl.jpg

Would this not be perfect for the GTE housing? And it's half the price of the Momo 27. If I had a drill press, I think I'd have already ordered it.

EDIT: I thought that was the same size as the GTE. It's an inch smaller. Came real close to ordering it, but that seems too small. I'm sure the housing would fit, but lopping another inch off the diameter seems like a bad idea.

Paul. Try to use red arrows on a black background next time. It was rather hard to spot now. :P
