Quick question for you guys. I'm thinking about saving up and buying an Obutto Ozone or R3volution and it looks like some of you have these. I know this is T500 thread but do any of you know if mounting my TX would be a problem on either of them? If this is the wrong place to ask I'm sorry in advance.:)

I have the Ozone and only real issue for me is drilling holes to hard mount the wheel. The bolt spacing on T500 lends somewhere in the area of the bar that picks up the "table" portion of the wheel. I ended up making an adapter for it...

The normal table clamp on the T500RS IMO is worse than ones from G25/G27s, and with the wheel being bigger and heavier I have enough leverage to move it just clamping it to the Ozone. And with those bars underneath the clamp also does not work very well at all in that setup. I ran my G25 5 years without thinking about hard mounting, I had T500RS for less than 1/2 month before I decided to hard mount it...

Do you know if the same mounting problem would be true with the TX? Thanks for the reply.

IIRC the TX uses the same hardpoint as T500, so I am guessing you'll have the same issue on Ozone. The adapter isn't hard to make, and since I have ready access to material it was easy for me. I updated my post a little to explain why I needed to hard mount it...

That's what I thought I've read as well. Do you know if the R3volution has the same problem?

Wow, Cyber_stig_77! That looks highly interesting. Are you planning to offer this mod for purchase at some point?

Really cool!

Dave

I would like to offer it for sale at a later date :). I have the lower mount attached to my sim rig but I want to make the lower mount attach to the peddle base so the kit is a DIY install suitable for the average gamer. I am currently playing with the amount of oil in the chamber which effects the resistance at the bottom of the stroke, this is something that will be able to be tuned by the individual to get the perfect feel :)

Is. That. A. Horn. Button. !?

Haha, no but seriously. If there's one thing I like about my DFGT is the horn. :dopey:

Pretty cool. This should put all those tin-foil-hatters / whiners / et. al. out of their misery regarding wheel compatibility with the PS4, but then again, there have been several confirmations that they will work before this and they still complained.

Looks to me like it's the same wheel of the GTE add-on, just different buttons. That's good, because like the GTE it'll be smaller diameter than the GT wheel and will probably have attached paddles. Good news for PS4 owners. :)

I am not excited for a new TM rim, I bet It´s gonna be so small you can drive while handcuffed. Just same rubber and plastic as usual.

I really like the smallish 458 rim for older Formula cars, and some LMPs myself.
But I do prefer the larger GT rim for most other stuff though.

The base in the picture does not seem to have fixed paddles, but not sure.
Time will tell, thanks for sharing @Carson79 :).

I saw those, but I think they lost the static paddles on the base, can't tell for sure.
I took them off on my T500 base, first thing, after I got the 458 rim.

Oh, ok gotcha. Yeah I think they removed them for that picture.

So, with this new wheel TM will probably sell rebranded PS4 T500RSs much like they sell them now as GT6 wheels (originally GT5).

Thrustmaster T500 RS

What about a new official PlayStation®4 gear with SHARE / OPTION & PS functions ? Would you be excited? I know I would!

From Facebook

After studying the teaser image, I couldn't tell whether this is only a new rim, a new PS 4 attachment (I wish) or entirely new wheel model/package?

How I hope Thrustmaster would release an attachment (while with PS4 compatibility and REV lights support for PS consoles) between the T500RS base and let you use any rims (including existing RIMS) just like what Fanatec's recently announced since Thrustmaster's released rims aren't really worthwhile buying while they're keeping the price reasonable for all owners.

Pretty much a hybrid button/rev box with shifters with much slimmer profile that will have standard PS3/4 buttons which will be adjustable with the distance for the components to fit existing T500RS compatible rims. Since the aftermarket options are expensive without true wheel and console integration. The RRP (recommended retailer price) should cost around USD$80 (aftermarket wheel adaptor not included).

Anyone willing to support this attachment idea please like this post and with over 100 likes on GTP, I'll post it on their Facebook page and see if we can convince TM to investigate this idea that T500RS owners are willing to pay $$$ for this attachment. Who knows, maybe then Thrustmaster can setup a Kickstarter project to ensure enough interests for their investment :cheers: ;)

Given the pic of a revised T500RS GT rim, I'm pretty sure it will be pretty much a replacement.

I'm hoping for modularity: please let the new rim be available separately for T500RS users to run with the PS4 :)

So basically it's the TX base, with Sony Playstation features instead of Microsoft Xbox ones. Yet with 1080 degrees of rotation instead.
Downside with the new wheel as with the TX and T500, the noisy fan. The rim should be interchangable with all other bases but console specific features won't necessarily be supported I think (i.e. the PS, Share, Option functions), but we'll see.

That next-gen FFB marketing BS is just silly though. Cause where do we place the directdrive wheels than? :odd: The Jetsons Tech Force Feedback

Good stuff. I'm interested in what you're making. Please post back with updates as you progress.

Thanks,

Dave

Maybe directdrive wheels can go with the Double N Gen Reality Force Feedback system*.

We might see a more beefier version consider how Microsoft have alot of restrictions while Sony don´t. For example Fanatec had to create the CSR Elite becuse Microsoft don´t want to license a wheel as an Xbox Wheel if it had features non compatable with Xbox. I can wish altough my wishes might not get fulfilled, these are my wishes for a replacement of the T500:

Larger diameter 320mm least
Premium material like leather
Pedals with load cell and larger travel distance
Paddleshifters attached to stock rim
Larger fan cooling the unit

I'm looking to upgrade my G25 soon, albeit for PC use, so this is quite exciting and I'm glad I held off buying a T500 RS so far, if there are going to be improvements. Are we likely to find out at E3?

I really do hope that the T500RS as it is right now could be used on the PS4, I really don't want to have to buy another wheel.

That's what I thought I've read as well. Do you know if the R3volution has the same problem?

R3volution doesn't have issues with Thrustmaster mounting, atleast my T500 bolted right in without interference problems.

Switched back to stock pedals couple weeks back aswell, CSPV2 clutch mechanism was way too pronounced and shorter travel of the T500 pedals feels nicer to me anyway. :D

I have both a oZone and a R3volution at the moment, and while I didn't have any issue using the claw to use the T500 on the oZone (before it broke and I drilled the plate and hard mounted it anyways) on the R3v teh wheel plate is predrilled and honestly fits like it was made specifically for the T500RS. I don't think the claw would work well on the R3v, but I never tried.

Thanks guys for the responses. Look's like I'll be saving for the R3V then. Also to stay on the thread topic this news about the new T500 looks great. I definitely want to get a T500 at some point to go with the TX.:)

I don't think I'd buy a T500RS now, especially with TM teasing something new on their FB. Also, and this is probably just me, but... I always have thought $600 was just too much. At $400 it was pretty fair. To me the TX is a real possibility at $300 (if you catch it on a deal) if my T500 ever kicked the bucket since I can reuse my pedals and whatnot tho.

The R3Volution is an AWESOME rig, I just got mine (used) and am finally getting the triples stand and speaker mounts... and I adore it. However if joy-money is an "issue" and you need to make it stretch a bit, the oZone isn't bad at all! It handled my T500RS just fine (I know some people have mounting issues, but I somehow didn't, maybe as mine was an older model) and while the R3V certainly has a few more options than MY oZone did (I have an OLD one, so the shifter and keyboard mounds were fixed, and it came with a weird keyboard table vs. the nice VESA mount you get now...) at $355 (before tax/shipping) vs. $800 for the R3V (before tax/shipping) the price difference buys you a TX at full retail.

Ya I won't be buying a T500 anytime soon. Was pretty hard to talk the wife into the TX+Xbone already:lol: It's hard for me to decide which Obutto to go for but I love how the R3V looks and all the adjustability.
