@ ara:
thanks for your answer.
the first video is the boing test in the control panel, yes. but you dont hear a little plastic thing at the end of the boing springing around in the wheel? This little broken plastic thing also springs around when I shake the wheel..

and to the others.. yes its no good sound quality but I cannot film this effect much better...
hera another try..

hope its better to hear now.. I think something scratches more when turning the wheel to the left..

and.. sorry for bad english :D

yes, that sounds much clearer. I don't believe there should be anything rattling around if you move the wheel assembly around, and yes your wheel is making a sound in this video that mine doesn't make. I would be really curious to hear thrustmaster's tech support reply to this...

I contacted tech support again and send them the link to that video.. Now I know that isnt a normal noise..
This is my second wheel which is broken.. Hope they can send me a third one.......

Boing noise & Gear/Belt noise looks like natural on your videos. I've nearly same result on my sample and there is no problem 👍
So the only problem is probably the moving plastic part inside your base.

If your really taking the cars you drive to their limit and someone is breaking inside this is not good. Probably has to be a recall or people should have to deal with it.

whoohoo. got it this morning.

here my noob impressions

excellent, makes my life a lot easier compared to controller. easy for throttle control, braking and smoother steering.

overall very happy. i set the ffb to 1, default 5 was way too violent for my liking. wheel literally snaps back to center when i restart a race. i can feel the car now, when it has traction or the rears are starting to lose grip.

- construction is very good, metals and plastics are solid. the wheel been on all day and not even that warm, so cooling must be pretty good. if you turn the sound off you can hear the fan(s), but when you play i don't even notice it

- ease of use - well it's just plug and play. i did remap a couple of the buttons to suit me better (ie windshield wipers etc...) i wish i could remap clutch pedal to be reverse, using the triangle button is far from ideal, either that or downshift from 1st to R

- clamp - very good, stable and doesn't move. i don't think i need to bother drilling holes in the gamepod.

- pedals - very happy and using the inverted set up. i tried the brake mod at first, but thought it was too heavy/stiff for my liking - am happy with the default brake feeling - that said if i could be swayed by a perfect pedal type mod, as long as price is not ridiculous. also i may use the included brake mod for the clutch when the shifter becomes available later this summer. also they are very stable and i haven't even hard mounted them on the gamepod.

- steering wheel is solid and i love the paddles. no prob for me, i like that they are fixed. wheel dimensions are good and i like how they feel when holding it. rubber grip is better than expected, but still i would have prefered real leather like the G27 . it is detacheable, so i hope thrustamster make add-on wheels as options - i would love a ferrari wheel in leather i haven't found a way to reduce the 1080 rotation, bit too much if you ask me, esp with some really fast cars on tight cornered street races. i guess good for drifters, but i am dreadful at that

havent tried with any other game than GT5 or on PC. drivers for PC should be out by end of jan. hopefully will be same for EA and codemaster games

overall am very pleased with it so far (except for lack of leather on steering wheel), definetly helped me be better at Gt5 in short time i have used (not surprising really after ps3 controllers) - I can't compare it to g27 or fanatec since i don't have those, but i can tell you it's miles better than the MS wheel in Forza, which really shouldn't be a surprise

just my 2cents

PS haven't done the firmware update, is it it really necessary?

I am looking for an answer to that, does anyone know how to reduce the rotational angle on the T500RS? When I downloaded the latest firmware update for the wheel I also got this little program from Thrustmaster, where apparently I can adjust the degrees, but couldn't really change anything at all, is that only for PC games?

Anyone know where I can get this wheel ordered? All the retailers listed on the manufactures sight are not showing the wheel....Fry's is out of stock.

Also at the moment I have the G27 and the pedals are inverted. . . brake mod...can I use these and the TR500 wheel? or will one have to use the pedals that come with it. In time I would fab another cockpit to use the tr500 pedals.

Thanks

Actually, Amazon has had a listing for a good week now. They are still out of stock. But at least it can be ordered.

My nearest Fry's says that they have a back order. Which they are supposed to receive their shipment on the 8th. We'll see.

Look at the Facebook page for the T500rs

And the DFP's 200 degree wheel lock.

Hmm well I am a bit confused since it says on the tin adjustable up to 1080 degrees and now it turns out that it only applies to PC gaming (for the official GT5 wheel) that sucks though. I remember the first wheel I got for the Ps2 I think was adjustable and that made me really happy. Now I think I have to get used to this huge angle of the T500RS. I enjoy drifting with the DS3 a lot more atm because I find it a lot easier than with the wheel, maybe I just suck lol...

In GT5 I actually noticed that the wheel was locked to less degrees in the FGT. Not really hard locked but resistance gets high enough that it feels like a lock. Just didn't notice at first.

I will keep an eye on both Fry's and Amazon. Thank you.

That's not really the wheel's fault, it's the software's. GT5 does not support degree locks via software and the PC, being infinitely more flexible, does. Either via the PC drivers or via the many sims out there.

However the wheel can sort of "lock itself" depending on what kind of car you drive... If you're driving a street car you'll get 900 degree rotation, which dimishes if you drive certain race cars.

poster above said the Fanatec wheels can have the rotation degrees adjusted for GT5 using their built-in software. Is there any word if the Thrustmaster will have such an option in the future?

i guess Thrustmaster will have to stick an asterisk at the end of the specs line?
Angle of rotation adjustable up to 1080° (3 full turns)! *
(*only on PC)

Don't think you'll want to use the G27 pedals unless you have the perfect pedal. The T500 brake has much better feel than the G27 and they can be used inverted.

I ordered this wheel. I'm joining in on the fun. If they sell the shifter I can still get it. I have an ACT LABs USB shifter to use with games for now.

I know i wasn´t alone on this but has anyone got an email back from TM about selling the wheel separate?
Already have better pedals so i really don´t need those.

I sent them an email a few days ago asking about adjusting the rotational degrees on the PS3 in GT5, but I am still waiting for an answer from them. Luckily some members in this forum could give me an answer before them 👍. I read somewhere on GTPlanet that customer service from Thrustmaster is not the best… So I am not awaiting any response from them to be honest 👎

Thanks alot mate for answering:tup:👍, in your opinion, do you think that PD will add such a function in future updates?

Heeey I got an email from tech support, they tell me to do this:

"You can adjust the rotation angle on the wheel by simultaneously pressing the MODE button + L2 + L3. The rotation angle will then be locked on to 270 degrees on both sides."

I will give it a try tonight and report back.

This is good for ISI based PC sims, but probably not interesting for GT5.

this is good news and at least better than no rotation angle adjustment at all in GT5 (if it works)!
:)
