So my Casio Edifice arrived the other day and I'm very pleased with it overall. Feels weighty enough, but not too heavy, and i love the design. The solar power and radio control are nice features too.

Only problem is fitting. I've had a few links taken out and found that it was too loose and moved around my arm too much, i asked for another link to be removed but found that too tight, so much so that it was uncomfortable and left a fairly deep mark on my wrist. I then had the link put back in, and adjusted the clasp to make it slightly tighter - expecting that to be a happy middle ground but it still slides down over my wrist bone.

I'm trying to live with it on this semi-loose setting, and it's not too bad but i just wondered how do others wear their watches? Do you prefer a tighter fit, is looser the way forward?

mine is looser. Because when I work (computer), game, or play the guitar I do not want my watch to pinch my blood vains.

Congrats on the Casio!

Thanks, I'm preferring it looser but would like to be able to adjust it ever so slightly so that it doesn't slide over my wrist bone. Guess I'll get used to it though 👍

You did say you used the links AND the clasp. I am sorry that you are not able to find a proper setting. Normally the links are for the big adjustments and the clasp is for fine tuning.

Solar and Waveceptor are awesome on Casio watches. Deadly precise.

Yeah, it was way too tight and was using the loosest clasp setting, so the guy put a single link back in and changed it to the tightest clasp setting so should have effectively been like adding half a link. Unless he added 2 links...maybe I'll have a go at knocking the link pins out myself, or is this not advised?

I do it myself. But if you hesitate or do not have proper tools, I advise you to have it done at the shop.

Nice watch garlik_bread 👍

Hard luck about not being able to settle on a comfortable arrangment with the strap at the moment - usually, as you say, between adjusting the clasp and removing/ adding links, a comfortable solution can be had.

My Protrek also wears a little loose compared to my leather straps - I think the nature of metallic bracelets is to slide a little more then leather, plus it is a little more difficult to settle on the right measurements with them.

As a general rule, I have my straps with just enough room to wriggle an index finger between wrist and the watch, when being worn.

Cheers Mike, that general rule seems to apply to my current strap so I guess its just a matter of getting used to it. Might still have a go at some fine tuning though :)

Are you going to keep it on the leather? The zulu strap on the one makes for an awesome combo 👍

Dievas Zulu black on black will arive next week. I also think Zulu's with black metal suits these Citizens quite good.

Not a new watch but a new strap for it, thanks for the link Mike 👍.

Hadn't been wearing it much recently because the original steel bracelet was like some sort of medieval torture device pulling at my arm hairs.
Had the watch for a around ten years I would guess and the new strap will breathe some new life/use into it.

To be honest I wasn't sure on how the strap would look (was tossing up with going with red stitching) but I'm quite happy with it.

Does anyone have any idea how long the battery lasts in these things as its still the original battery?

10 years on the original battery? How awesome is that. I sold a Seiko Sportura after 5 years owning it. The buyer asked about the battery. When I said it was the original, he also could not believe it. Apperently Seiko mounts good batteries.

Nice strap. I think the white stitching is better than red. Red can be too much In Your Face.

The batteries in most things now days are really quite good. My Casio has still been going strong, almost 3 years old now, and I don't even wear it anymore.

Got to say though, now that I have a Self-Winding, I really want to get a Hand Winding watch though just to see how it is. I feel like it wouldn't bother me that much and would only give you more of a reason to look at your beautiful timepiece!

Glad it arrived so quickly 👍. For a moment there I thought that was your new watch! - a new strap does a wonderful job of refreshing the look, and for not much dosh.

 - one has to wonder how they let some of the designs through user testing given the atrocities they perpetuate on people with arm hair!

Seiko probably tests them on Asian people, and we have minimal arm hair.

Initially I got an all black Zulu strap for it. But I think this skunk orange on black Nato does the trick even better IMHO. Also matches my GT3rs perfectly. I have a dream.... :)

Got rid of the Casio G-shock GW3000BB and the Seiko 5 Sports.

My fresly arrived Seiko Casio SKX007 on an Engineer-2 bracelet says hi.

Only saw this now, but nice pickup Marco 👍. Those seiko's have a huge following online and for good reason; hardly, well made, affordable and pretty much spot on styling wise.

They also dress up well on NATO's, which i know you probably already have :P. The customisation market for them is also huge, I know there are a few places that will trick it out with custom hands, dials etc.

Went to the jewelry store today to pick up the engagement ring I had made and had to get a watch while I was there, you know because all major life events require a watch, right?

Oooh, that leather one is awesome 👍 Did you get that locally or online?

I am a sucker for a well crafted leather strap - and my standard recommendation for them is to fit a deployment to ensure it lasts a long time ;).

I got this in September from my wife as my wedding gift:

Its really really nice but a little too big for my wrist. Works well with long sleeve shirts or a suit, but it is a little clunky on my bare wrist. Extremely well made.

Very unique watch there, 88GTA. 👍.

I am looking around these days for a square chronograph, although not really looking seriously. Would love a Monaco, but that is a bit much and since Steinhart discontinued their homage, the river is a bit barren in terms of alternatives :indiff:.

I REALLY like the fuel gauge look. I wish more watches had special looks like this. Omega made a 007 model with the 7 reading 007 rather than 7. I wish more companies would do something interesting like that.

Thanks guys. Oh and to clarify, the watch face is larger than it looks not the strap which can obviously be changed.
