The WTC 600 in Tokyo done without exploits is genuinely one of the hardest races in single player in gt7 - share your setups, tips, and cars

I found 600pp in general to be pretty difficult. Especially when you are running out of money to try different cars and upgrades.

I keep trying to tell people this, but hardly anyone ever listens to me.
I hear what your saying but it depends on your skill level,me personally i cant get on with it to be competitive so i used the Atenza Gr4 non stop.I couldnt manage a win with the NSX`17 that so many people like.Different people with differing levels of driving find some cars hard to drive while others say they are easy, unfortunately this is not a one size fits all race/car combo.I find it quite tricky, too many penaltys and the race is run for me.lol

No exploits.

The DP-100 destroys the competition.

I tried the DP100, it's the first VGT car I've used in the game, so I thought I'd try it out on this race. I've not been very successful with it yet - if I use good tyres I have to cut down the power and the field runs away from me, but if I go with crap tyres I can blast past on the straight but they catch up on lap 2 and crash into me as if I'm invisible and I get penalties as a result. Could I ask what's the balance that you have found most effective between grip and grunt? I've started this one maybe a dozen times, but the AI seem particularly bad and I've been spun off by them almost every time. Any tips for getting the best out of the DP100? Thanks

adjust the fuel mapping so you don't have to pit. they'll monster away from you but you'll save ~50sec over the whole race without pitting. this is a strategy race.

I merely shifted at 7k rpm, as that where its power peaked. Beyond that, the engine chokes itself to death.

Fuel Map 1, no pit stops, Sports Hard.

So, I decided to try out something else besides the Corvette so I settled for a Skyline R32, that car will allow you to win with 30 and over seconds of advantage on P2 and complete the race easily in 27 minutes and 25 seconds, for a relatively small investment of money. It's also as fast as the GT-R and the NSX on the straight, and can get you to P1 on lap 3 if you drive fast enough.

Mazda Atenza Gr.4 on sports softs can win without pitting at fuel 1 - so you can push all the way. Add the mid turbo and down tune to 600pp with the programmable ECU and ballast. Minimise the downforce and you'll get 177 mph max with draft (167 mph without), which is critical for this race.

Take it fairly easy for the first 3 laps to avoid any penalties and then just go for it when the dry line appears. Tyres will be dying by lap 10, but this car can be pushed and kept tidy for the slower final 2 laps. Fastest AI will gain heavily in that time, but just keep your head down with no mistakes and you'll be fine. I was over 20 seconds clear on lap 10 and finished with 5 to spare at the end.

Did this race yesterday with nissan gtr (praiano tunning), aston martin dp100 and ferrari f50 (never imagined the f50 would actually be usefull for something other than taking pictures). Looking for more dominant cars on this race. Definitly way better than le mans 800 30mins for credit farming.

I suspect a lot of people aren't in the habit of looking at the power curve and working out when to shift. For many cars it's not a problem, but with my tune of the DP-100 at least, the best place to shift was right at the very start of the bar, even a little before it even starts to turn red at all. Shifting later will both be slower and use more fuel, which is why some people talk about needing to adjust the fuel map when it can actually be used at full power and fuel map 1 to no-stop the race if you shift at the right point.

Funny thing about this particular race. I use it to gauge the tunes for alot of my cars.

An R32 cheeses it just fine. Novelty runs out after doing it a few, so now I just try and see what sticks, the sorta laps I can set, and fuel economy testing.

The Tokyo WTC600 is the stupidest, most ridiculous piece of race gaming programming I have ever seen. The game has to cheat big time in order to win. The AI cars are not only at least 40 mph faster than you on the straight, and corner on rails in the technical part of the track. All the while on racing slicks, which should force them to detune to meet spec (thus slowing them down) or force them to slide around like they're in ice on tne wet track, but, as I said, they blow by you on the straight like they've all got nitrous and corner on rails. They also cheat in the pits. As soon as they finish gassing up, they are instantly back on the race track at full speed. This also happens in other races. So tell me, GT - why do I have to detune my 570hp Corvette so that it drives like a Fiat 500 for this race? If I try to put any kind of racing tire on my car, it takes a 60 pp hit which forces a further detune to meet spec. Come on - 60pp for using RH tires????? Puh- leeeze!!!!!! Oh, and please, no "get gud" comments. Hard to get gud when you can't even keep up with the AI's on the straights... Oh, and no penalties for the AI's that hit the "barrier"... Pure BS!

I mean, read the responses. Regardless of AI there are many cars, including the Corvette that win this without too much trouble. I feel you on the "cheating" AI thoughts, there are many races where everything is stacked against you and it takes a lot of skill and patience to win, but they're all very doable.

Try some other cars and setups. AWD sounds like a strong asset.

All the while on racing slicks

They are on sport tires. Sports tire icons are colored ring + colored letter, racing tire icons are solid color background + black letter.

Can confirm DP-100 destroys the competition, Sports Hard, ECU 76, ballast 200 @ -50, shift at 6500-7000 rpm. Fuel map 1, no pitting at all.
Although I'm not as good as @RCKakashi14 like he did 26'08", I can only do 26'30~50", but it's still a whole minute ahead 2nd.

stock SLS AMG 10, stock Corvette C7, stock GT-R 17
Ford GT (-3 power restrictor), SLR McLaren (-1 power restrictor),

That are cars that are faster on the straights and have no tuning (slight downtune).

And then, when you are able to beat them with their own tools, you will find cars that are slower on top speed, but actually faster on the track.

"Very" is such a strong word. ;) Most people can't gold all the events, even if they are doable. Tokyo is one of those races you either get it right, or you struggle with for ages.

Im still missing S7 only, S10 was "easy" comparatively :D

As others already stated, take it as strategic race. You can also win it with a detuned p330 race car, detuned clk gtr lm will also do. Most important thing on some of these cars is to keep the race clean and manage to get no penalties. A good indicator are the lap times as well, you should get constantly below 2:20.
I'm always using Sport hards an do no pit stops. My best runs so far were in the Atenza Gr. 4 clear in the 26 minutes range and I think in the Veyron Gr. 4 by around 26:55.

Haven't tried any high power road cars yet, this will follow in the next days and weeks. There was also mentioned that this race should be possible with a lamb in around 22 Minutes, but I have not found any further information on the used setup.

For me this is right now the most fun in GT7, because you will recognize all the differences in handling between motor position, drivetrain etc., you can test some different setups, improve yourself and will earn some decent money, even for p2.

Just did it a few more times with the DP-100.
My best total race time was 26:09, but it can go faster than that, I had another race where I did 26:12 with a 5 second penalty, but I was getting bored and struggling to stay focused during the 26:09 race.
Sports hard tyres
ECU 83
Ballast 200/-50
Restrictor 89
I took the slow hairpin in 3rd
Shift from 3rd to 4th at 98mph
Shift from 4th to 5th at 123mph
Shift from 5th to 6th at 158mph
(the above are all around 6500rpm, power drops off after that)
Don't use 7th gear.
No fuel stops.
My fastest lap was 2:07.4, the conditions are fastest around lap 6.
Total race time would be a bit lower with better tyre wear management by partial braking. I used a controller with stick steering and mostly full braking, which isn't the best for tyre wear.
