@Tommy_D I might give your tune a go tomorrow,i see yours favours lighter weight and SM.I went for weight red 1,cust susp and manual trans with medium turbo.I think adding the turbo might have overwhelmed the car and tyres a little, managed to get it spin up mid corner on the wet track.

I can't remember what made me go with mediums. Probably had traction issues in testing.

This is a nice safe win,no wall riding, just pick your overtakes in the right places.Engine swap R33,Minimum weight, stock suspension, wide body mod, adjust power and aero to match.FM1 all the way and no stopping, plenty of fuel left over and the SH could probably last another 4 or so laps.
You could add more weight and increase the hp but theres not really any need, touches 200mph before needing to brake for the first corner.

Finally got round to tackling this event properly, P6 was my previous best. Used this tune, took me a while to figure out how to get the front downforce to 20, also I had the stage 5 weight removal, so I had to ballast back well beyond the weight in this tune. Understeered quite a lot but I found moving to 25:75 on the torque helped it rotate through corners more effectively than just ploughing as much as it did.

But yeah - it worked no problem, 20 sec win even with terrible lap times for the first few laps. Virtually no tyre wear 👍

Its a great car to use for this event,I find most of the AWD cars are fun drives,I tend to run 50:50 on the torque but thats just my driving style. The non engine swapped R33 is a blast but you need to stop for fuel and tyres, even if you save fuel you probably will still need to stop for tyres. 👍

AMG Safety Car still got it

I searched this thread and didn't see the Infiniti VGT on here.

Interestingly enough you can do the battery boost even though nitrous is disabled in this race, although in my testing it's not super strong. You can hit 190mph just before the first hairpin though. There's some wonkiness with PP as you can equip SM or IM rear without any PP penalty at certain ballast levels. IM rear is a no go though since they are halfway done by the end of the first lap 😂

I missed all the XJ fun a few pages back; I saw someone posted 26:12 with 2:04 lap times but this isn't bad for the first race with this car.

I did some test laps with the Citroen VGT which definitely seems doable (last post in here about it was about a year ago) if not boring due to limited top speed on the straight. I also revisited the A220 Race Car post-glitch since I haven't touched it since the patch fixed it and that is way more fun; I'll see how it performs in the race soon.

A220 Race car is still viable even after the glitch was patched. I no-stopped this one but I ended up having to drop to FM6 on lap 11 to make it to the end on this run. Tire wear is non existent even if you power out of the corners like I often did. A fun car for sure.

I have this swap done as well. Stupid silly car. It spins the tires at 165 mph in 4th gear with TC5.

However if you fully detune it to 600+ hp it can run 2:08's (back on v1.30). I haven't tried it for the actual race though.
You can run even better, this is was 545hp. Not my best time as I don't know the best fuel strategy; I ran FM6 on about 5-6 laps which still nets you about 200mph before the first corner. It really starts to drink fuel high in the rev range though, so I think if you short shift and have a long 5th you can keep revs down to be manageable. I pitted at lap 10 for new tires and filled up enough for 2.5 laps, and guess what? I coasted the last 4-5 seconds before the finish line 😂 I will say that the wheelspin is pretty manageable coming out of turns as long as you are pointed straight and not too high in the rev range, aside from the last hairpin before the straight. That is an exercise in feathering the throttle if you don't use TCS.

I really did not need the glitch here, I won it 5 times in a row with my Corvette '14 car. Takes approximately 26-27 minutes depending on how I perform whether I run into walls, or get behind rivals. However I have not reached the CRB, which would be nice.

I posted this in the glitches thread by mistake:

Revisited the Crown Athlete with engine swap. Plenty of fuel leftover but tires are done after lap 8 since the car is so heavy. With better consistency you can run 2:09 throughout, or even lower.

How'd you get almost a minute ahead of everyone, maybe my car must not be powerful enough! Anyways, good work!!

Thanks! This is the current tune but it's far from optimal. The top speed is fine but 3rd needs to be longer for sure as you can stay high in the rev range with the high rpm turbo without worrying about fuel. The main pp advantage comes from using a manual rather than a racing transmission.

Aero kit, detuned ECU, added ballast, wide wheels. Everything else was stock. Not a great car, to be honest. Front end grip is pretty poor. Turn in is pretty terrible. Lots of missed apexes and drifting off the racing line in to the wet parts of the track. Like the other F1's in the game, overpriced and underperforms. At least it's easy to get the CRB, so this car can begin paying for itself.

Any chance you can post settings? 👍
Sure. One thing I'd do for sure is lengthen the final gear ratio as I think it's a little short on the top end.

Maserati GranTurismo S 08. Not sure if it's just me but the engine sound is awful to me. This is a one and done because it's just that off putting. One stop for tires and fuel. Otherwise with a good suspension tune (this was stock) this can probably be done a little quicker.

What did you think about the actual driving experience? I felt like the front end of the car was not talking with the back end. The back had good grip but the front had none. Now, I didn't install any sort of customizable suspension, so I'm sure some tweaks could be made to get it to handle better, but for a minimal build on stock suspension, I figured it would have handled better.

Victory for the Valkyrie!
Valkyrie600pp - Victory.jpg

No wall riding necessary. But you will need to do a lot of detuning.

STRATEGY
  • No stop
  • Comfort Hard tires
  • Shift around 10k rpm because the car stalls out at higher speeds due to the aero drag
  • Tire wear is OK / manageable - the rear tires wear the worst and are around 60% gone by the end of the race

RESULTS
Total Time: 27:03.184
Best Lap: 2:10.Xxx
Average Lap: 2:12 ~ 2:14 - because I was figuring out the car limits, shift points, and when to deploy the overtake function

I'm sure this car can get into the 26 minute range.

LOL at the AI who really, REALLY wanted to troll me. Gallo in the NSX ran a 2:08.930

IMPRESSIONS

I initially hated the way this car drove in the new Time Trial at the Red Bull Ring, and I was not looking forward running a build on Comfort Hards... But I was pleasantly surprised. This was much easier to drive than the swapped Golf (yes, I've won with that, no, I don't recommend it) and a bunch of other struggle builds.

This grip in turns 1,2 and the final hairpin are about the same as an average Sports Hard build. Braking is good, but note that I prioritize grip, power and weight at this performance level, so I'm used to mediocre / awful braking.

Acceleration is good / great, but top speed is average. Performance varies a lot, depending on how you use the overtake function.

The real magic happens in the very high speed sections. The Valkyrie crushes everything in turn 3 and 4. But it needs driving finesse in the middle section of the track because you're transitioning between mechanical grip and downforce grip.

I doubt you can hold the overtake button down the entire race, or even for a full lap, but its recharge rate (via braking) is reasonable. Maybe deploying it every other lap is the way to go. Figuring out when and where to deploy overtake is where you'll find your fast laps.

I didn't do anything to the suspension or gearbox, so some tuning may allow you to gain even more performance from the car.

I got the Mclaren F1 to around a 26:24 total time. I agree with you on the stock suspension being poor. The front feels vague and kinda mushy - made worse by the need to run high rear downforce to get the car viable at this PP level.

A suspension tune can erase the vague front end, making the car more neutral and cooperative, but I noticed the rear is hyper sensitive to throttle inputs. Not necessarily in a bad way, but something that stood out to me. The engine response dominated the car in my tune.

Interesting we're all in the 2:07 ~ 2:08 range with this car. I hit a massive wall at 2:08. The 2:07 laps felt like they came out of nowhere.

Overall, I feel the PP system has hobbled this car from the start.

This is actually a pretty decent drive. It lacks some front end grip and leans towards understeer, but it still outperforms the McLaren F1 in turn in response and it's ability to get back on line by letting off the gas just a little bit. Can hit over 200mph on the straight, has some pretty stable braking characteristics and the engine sounds great. For about 300k credits, it's not a bad grinder.

Another steady car to use,no wall riding needed, the better drivers on here will get a lower time than mine but a wins a win.Top speed is about 190mph but its enough, has loads of grip in the twisty sections, just stop for fuel, and tyres if you want to,around end of lap 8.You can run it with CM and up the power and drop the weight right down but the trade off doesnt warrant it.

I recently started a Youtube channel, where I'll be doing mainly GT7 content, tunes, customisation showcases, nurburgring laptimes, builds etc. I've posted my first tune which is a fairly simple set-up for the XJ220. Not the fastest by any stretch, but a decent stable set-up to hopefully make crb a little easier.

The easiest way to provide all the data, we need, is to post just three pics ;)
The "Tokyo community" (and even more) then kwows, what to do, without being forced to watch first commercials, then a video, trying to stop it at the position where the tuning data is presented,...

Regards
M

are you using active LSD? last time it understeers so much with active lsd.

This is`old faithful`for me.Always a safe win,you have to mess with the fuel map for 2 or 3 laps but apart from that pit at the end of lap 8 for fuel only,no need to change tyres. Not the fastest of laps for me but no worries.
