Here is my tutorial video on how to race this race. It's actually super simple. You dont have to use the Celica, there are plenty of examples of other cars to use in this thread, but the strategy and racing lines are all the same between the cars.

Yeah, that one was meant to be an easy drive, so it wasn't too difficult to talk over what I was doing. No need to get aggressive when your car doesnt have to pit and can run 2:13's pretty easily. Of course, as you do the race over and over and over again, you begin to push yourself to go faster and faster. Eventually you begin to race against your fastest times and end up going a whole minute faster:

 
Swapped GTO can do 2.09 laps hot lapping mid 2.08 no stop. Fm3, will end race with a little fuel left. SH will last the whole race but the front will get worn faster so some care. Really fun car to drive though.
Take praiano's tune, slap the minimum ballast on the rear to get to the same weight distribution. Normal turbo (worse turbo lag with high rpm but faster on the straight). Swap the racing trans for a full custom manual. Full aero on the back. Drop power restrictor to 70, bring ecu up to max under 600pp. Put a few points in front aero to even out to 600.
It's a great car.

I keep trying this event, i must be rubbish to you guys, im only getting around 10th if that, never have any grip etc or the tyres are done after a lap or 2......ive got the honda beat maxed out aswell...
Celica is a good choice,as is the Delta with the engine swap.I found both to be safe wins.Almost any 4wd,one of my faves is the R33 with or without the swap,as is the mitsubishi GTO,just dont try and overtake all the ai at the same time,pick your overtakes and it will come.
 
Nope, whatever i do im 10 seconds behind the leader after first lap.... unreal, no grip or power in the 600 pp range for me...geez its like im on ultra hard or something, what is going on....:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I tried a few times around 2 months ago. I think the lag is just way too much for this race, actually the track in general. There was seemingly no way to get it boosted quick enough around 60% of the track. The only place it “shined” was for about 85% of the long straight, but it was a bloated pig with asthma on wheels for the majority of the track. So to me, not enjoyable.

I know what you mean,you cant have any sort of`relaxed`race with this car.As soon as you come off boost or are in too high a gear it seems to bog,I still like it though.Maybe i`ll mess with the gear ratios a little to try and keep it in the sweet spot. 👍

You probably won’t take the lead until the NSX pits the first time around lap 5 if not until it pits the second time around lap 10. The track is at its wettest on the first lap so it’s going to be the most difficult to find good lines but it will get easier as the race progresses. Sometimes it’s better to finish the race without restarting even if you don’t get first just so you get more time with the track and get to know it better.
 
Revisited the 2JZ Yaris again, I'm getting similar lap times to my R34 build although it feels very different to drive.

I'm going to try this race with the FT-1 and see if I have enough skill in order to win.

It's a long-game race, not a get in 1st immediately race.
That's one of the reasons I like this race. If you pick a "normal" car you have to play the long game. I think it's a fun race because each lap I'm overtaking cars and slowly getting faster laps as the track dries up. It can also be a race where you go full throttle doing one pitstop or you can use strategy with FM and complete the race without stopping at all.

Out of all 4 big races, this is the one that offers the most variety.

Try this tune and strategy. Using slicks on the first couple of laps is like suicide. I Destroy inters in one and a half laps so I came up with this tune and it works best for me. I Use TCS3 on the first lap and TCS2 for the rest of the race to keep the wheel spin down. The first set of (miss matched) tyres last for 3 laps. Pit for RH and fill up the gas and go to the end of lap 9. Pit for RS and you will only need a little gas to finish the remaining 3 laps. Try to stay on the dry racing line as much as you can because it does have better traction. Remember to brake in time for the first and final hairpin corners because you will be approaching them with a lot of speed. If you navigate the traffic right from the start you should be in the lead when braking for the first corner. Credit to @praiano63 for most of the suspension settings.

It's a really tough race. What sort of cars do you generally like to drive? 4wd? FR etc.

Did you watch my tutorial video on how to do this race? It's actually a very simple race to win. The engine swapped Honda Beat is very capable of winning without needing to do any tricks or be some sort of racing god. You just need to know how to drive the track.

Edit: Looking at your lap times I can tell you don't know your braking points, you are likely bouncing off all the walls and you can't carry speed through the turns so you are missing all the apexes and drifting on to the damp parts of the track. I recommend turning on the braking zone alerts and following what they say. If you need to, turn on the racing line indicator as well. You should see a dramatic change in your lap times if you do this.

Yes, think im just rubbish, im a gt veteran aswell:lol:, was 20 yeas old when the first game came out..This race is killing me tho, even on that long straight the lead car is just pulling away i cant keep up..Weird thing is though it says my previous best was first, so ive obviously done it before, have they made it harder since?, i have no idea what car i used to do it...:confused::confused:

I've won this race with the Beat at 399pp:

I don't know what your Beat is tuned up to, but it doesn't need a lot of tuning to be fast. People have detailed setups in this thread just a couple pages back that you could follow and get your car to drive better.
 
If your goal is winning , you may try some Normal cars first. Engine swap cars are fast but it usually made it harder to drive.

Some Sport cars and super cars are Capable with 0 to minimal setting or slightly detune.
This is one of my favorite cars for casual drive, sometimes it appears in UCD too. (Not expensive in brand central)

Stock setting with detune (you can do it with custom ECU too) and it drives pretty stable for a RWD.
 
Stock XJ220's a great shout at this event, if you've got one.
The Jag isn't too bad. I just went back through a bunch of my posts looking for cars that are super easy to drive and win easily and found this Porsche:

Probably a much easier car to drive than any engine swapped car.

Toyota FT-1. Fun to drive, just let down by long braking distances and a short final gear ratio as it's at redline from basically the pit entrance until braking for the first corner.
