That's the dude I was thinking of Crazy buttocks on a train! He is the one who pretty much backed up the 6 month behind on development rumour back in April/May. But of course when I say basically the same thing as you about his record I get 3 mods and 2 randomers jumping all over me. Ha

You claimed something as fact and never provided a name or a source.

Anyways, while what MS had setup was very much out of touch corporate bubble, I still maintain that gaming is a unique position. Films and Music have Cinema, cable/satellite/TV radio gigs/tours, selling products on TV, plenty of income streams. films on disc is the backend of the market, music has many reason why it is so at this time.
In the long run the publishers should be trying to get more sales and restrict used games, it's the only income stream. I understand the idea of buying something and selling it but they lose out a lot and its unlike other industries.
I'm cheap but my money for Batman AA went to the publisher, I could've got Batman on ebay for £5-10 on PS3/360 but I went on steam, could've pirated it but I didn't, its easier to use Steam. I think many gamers if they had a service wouldn't be so bummed without a disc if the price was right.
I think MS should've eased people in, had options to opt in, given incentives. They've probably just made the digital age that much harder to be adopted in a few years and too much too soon for consoles in one go.

I believe it though as I have no reason to not believe CBOAT, but obviously it is not a fact until (if at all) somebody in the know confirms it.

Major Nelson when pressed on gameshare he says you can let your friends check the game out, he carefully avoids the real truth of the original plan.
Wouldn't be surprised if MS during the backlash looked to make the gameshare something like the public and press ran with with but it was part and parcel with everything else.

But it is on GAF, somewhere. Snakes on a plane was the closest I could think of to a name. There is only one guy on GAF with a record like that, and that is the guy. I don't have an account so it is not easy to search the place. I read it at the time, I believed it at the time, I stated here that is what I believe, I didn't state it as fact. End of.

X1 is overpriced and underpowered compared to PS4. I would have to be mad to get this at launch. Might have another look when it hits £300 as long as there are enough exclusives.
PS. Great news for all the people regarding the removal of the restrictions of the X1. Well played to all the people who did not pre-order with such restrictions as they were the "voices" MS were listening to, via Amazon, but still listening!

That would decimate any chance of Kinect 2 becoming a widespread control scheme, would completely go against the statements that they feel the price is fine they made just last night, and would sink quite a few of the features that they undoubtedly designed the system around. I have far more reason to believe that they would do the contract thing that Earth was talking about than I do them dropping Kinect and releasing 2 SKUs.

It would be nice if they offered it without the Kinect and at a lower price. I would be much more likely to buy if that were the case.
Reading the comments under that blog I saw one person say that the Kinect is used for the mic for online play. I surely hope this is not true or that there is an option to use a headset [included] using the Kinect as a mic would end up picking up to much background noise and would be inferior to using a headset.

I guess MS really saw that it was going to be one of the most epic failures of a console in history and listened to the outrage, nice to see a win for the consumer these days.
It will be interesting to see if the polls and pre-orders now swing back but they might have already done permanent damage to the consoles image which they can't recover from.

They may have in the hardcore gamer online "community" but I imagine for most every day consumers they won't even know much about either console until it gets much closer to release date. I mean whilst most internet polls have been heavily towards PS4 I think the highest one was still only 400,000 total votes. It's not really an indication of what the less hardcore, non-E3 press conference watching gamers will be buying.

That's true, most consumers know absolutely nothing about a console till its on the shelves or on a TV advert however MS's screw up this time round has been so bad that it has been heavily publicised in the mainstream press which might just mean people have picked up on it more than usual.

Yep and the PS4 is cheaper which the average gamer will notice and when the shop assistants at Game and the like (who Microsoft would have seriously hurt had they gone ahead with their ban on used games) point out the PS4 has the better specs and/or is the better console (whether that ends up being true or not) that'll hurt the Xbox One too.
Microsoft have some work to do now. I wonder what they'll come up with next, should be interesting at least.

Places like GameStop have gotten the best of this upcoming Console generation. EA cancelled their Online Passes because they would get money from MS and their DRM, but now that they cancelled that there are no more Online Passes for EA games. This means GameStop wins out on Used Games sales even more than with the previous generation.
