In my opinion, I don't believe in this whole "Console Wars", it is stupid and each console I've used from each generation (For me, 5th to 8th generation) have all been good in their own ways. These "fanboys" just are oblivious to what their counterparts have that they don't (Blast Processing!!!111!!!).

Both consoles will be awesome, there's no doubt about it, and I for one shall be getting both consoles. Sure, the Xbox One may have stumbled out of the gate, but the PS3 also did that and (excluding the Wii) has taken the lead for this console generation. The Xbox One may have a graphic disadvantage, but does that affect anyone besides PC Elitists? No, because your average gamer doesn't care. You just want to play games on your new machine you just paid $400-$500 for. The upscaler in the Xbox One will do a great job of making 720p games look superb, I'm sure of it.

I'm getting a PS4 on launch, but unlike the fanboys, I'm going to buy an Xbox One in mid 2014 (The reason for not getting XB1 at launch is simply money). The games both systems have lined up is incredible, for me Killzone Shadow Fall leading the PS4 and Titanfall leading the XB1. Couple that with the third party titles like The Crew and Destiny and you have every reason to go next gen.

Simply to prove someone is neutral by getting all the consoles make no sense. Moreover people do not have enough time to use everything. I would personally avoid Microsoft consoles but competition is always good :)

I'm doing the same thing he is and getting both consoles. It's not to prove I'm neutral, it's because until I can actually play both of them I am neutral. I don't see how anyone can claim one is much better until they get a decent amount of time on both of them. Everyone should be close to neutral until they experience both consoles. I'm getting a ps4 at launch and I'll give my oldest son an Xbox one for Christmas.

I started out after the ps3 launched liking it better until I realized how terrible the PSN was compared to Xbox live and PC. I then became a fan of the Xbox for online gaming and only played single player exclusives on the ps3 very rarely.

What doesn't make sense is people who have a very strong opinion about one console before they even launch.

The only way I could see someone not being interested in a new console is if the games were just terrible for it. The games are so close this launch I can't see one consoles lineup winning anyone over for the long haul this early.

The only reason I'm going ps4 first this round is to support their lower price and that I hate the kinect and feel Microsoft is going to force it on consumers eventually. I though may be wrong and if the PSN is terrible again I will buy another Xbox.

It's way to early to form much of an opinion either way. It'll be around a year before we see what the future holds for each system.

Just received an email from Microsoft today reminding me to verify my pre-order before the 15th when they start processing orders.

I am going with the X1 as it has the software I am interested in and because I like the entertainment center focus of the X1. I also want the Kinect, which I feel is a technology that will be common place in the not too distant future.
If a PS4 racing exclusive similar to Forza 5 is released at some point it may drive me to pick up a PS4 down the road - I am sure it will be a great console also.

Indifferent towards the Xbox One, though not hostile they had a terrible, terrible first impression and at that point seemed to be the laughing stock of the gaming sector, but now that things have cleared up, it doesn't seem all so bad, a big silly kinect sensor (which based on previous experience will be trash), no clarity about policies and nothing exclusive that I'm interested in are the main detractors for me. Not really interested in the Xbox One.

And to the person that said the Xbox One will be the next Dreamcast, NO, the Dreamcast is friggin awesome!
If you only meant from a sales and relative power perspective then I would suggest some of these possible points.
1. The Wii U is the new Dreamcast
2. The Wii U (after coming from the successful Wii) is more like a Saturn really, so Nintendo's next console will be their Dreamcast
3. The Wii U will sell like hotcakes after a massive price drop and relabeling as "the cheap console for families" (why am I still talking about the Wii U?)
4. The Xbox One and PS4 will be like the XBOX and the PS2, where the PS4 will hulk the Xbox One's sales 9:1
5. Sony's and Microsoft's systems will both sell well, the PS4 will 'win' in the end by a bigger margin than this generation
This is just speculation, I really don't care about who 'wins'

the console war is pointless and is only fueled by the human need to be right, buyer's regret plays a big part in that.

I cant see the Xbox One being a complete failure. Its got Halo, Gears of War, Forza, and Microsoft's marketing budget.

Analysts are predicting 50m PS4s and 35m Xbox Ones sold after 3 years. Sounds about right to me.

The Dreamcast sold like hotcakes at launch, it broke records for fast sales. It just had a short life, as soon as the PS2 launch was announced people stopped buying it, and SEGA gave up the fight before it was even over. The Dreamcast was also a really great console, Innovative with a large selection of amazing games. It also was also a big jump in power over anything that came before and was easily capable of competing with the PS2 and original Xbox (based on Shenmue 2) in terms of graphics.

The Dreamcast is one of those mysteries of the world, but it was without a doubt the greed of SEGA with their 32x and SEGA CD expansions for the Mega Drive, along with them bumping forward the launch date for the Saturn. The reason the Saturn failed was as a result of those addons (the loss of 3rd party developers who refused to support the system, and the pissed off fans who wasted money on a hardware product that was quickly abandoned), and the reason the Dreamcast failed was as a further knockon effect.

So it isn't really comparable at all, the Dreamcast was an amazing console that a lot of people loved, that failed purely as a result of what happened before it even came to life.

While other analysts are predicting that the Xbox ONE will outsell the PS4 1.5 to 1 this year. So yeah. Analysts.

Personally, I think it will be pretty close. The PS4 has no exclusive launch titles that interest me in any way, so I'll be holding off on picking one up until there's a game that I actually want to play for it. Based on what I've seen so far, that might be a while, but I'm sure it will happen at some point. Between FM5 and the eventual releases of Project Spark and Titanfall, the Xbone is the better choice for me right now.

Actually if you do little research it is easy to make decision and can also try in store or friends house.

Xbone specs are weaker, it is bigger and expensive too. Microsoft has pretty bad reputation to support their consoles. But if someone has the money and more importantly time for different consoles then fair enough. I always wanted a gaming rig but I think one console is enough for my needs. PS vita is also something that interest me.

If I was forced to buy a new console it would be the Xbox One because of the games, even Dead Rising looks fun. Will be interesting how many US gamers will give up Xbox Live to pay for PSN.

In Europe MS are trying to advertise through football like Sony has done for as long as I can remember. They also want to rename the Real Madrid stadium Microsoft which is quite a big deal outside America.

buying either console so you can play 1 exclusive launch title seems a bit short-sighted, can you remember any launch game that you were interested in a while after its release? The good stuff will come gradually over the next 8 years, and next year will be a good time to start weighing up which console is for you, unless of course you've already decided.
I'll be going with PS4 in 2014 or 2015 because it has the franchises I like (Yakuza, Gran Turismo, etc) , controller I like, no Kinect or emphasis on TV, cheaper online service (which I may not even use), and perhaps even the possibility of The Last Guardian...

Ok, we now know you will be buying a PS4 down the road for games like Yakusa and GT and you like the controller, don't like the Kinect or emphasis on TV, and cheaper online service. What is the point of you post?

Your preferences and opinions are your preferences and opinions. I am buying an Xbox One primarily for Forza 5 and I want an central entertainment console with voice/motion controls, my preference. I am sure you don't care for me to tell you why and I am sure it wouldn't matter anyway. I could, because in my mind it is the better choice for what "I" am looking for.
If the PS4 had a AAA racing game that looked like something "I" would enjoy and offered other features on my want list I would buy a PS4. Just preference and opinion, I am sure a PS4 will work great for you.

Ya, I'm getting the Xbox One more for it's entertainment center than it's gaming capabilities. If I want to game, I'll game on my PC, but my PC makes for a horrible media center.

Hey, I'm glad you're buying an Xbox One and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too, I was saying this in response to people who were going to buy it because they were on the fence and Dead Rising 3 looked fun, I should've made it a bit more clear and I was only suggesting that people who aren't absolutely sure should wait a year or two for the bulk of the games to come. Yes I'll get a PS4 eventually, maybe I'll get an Xbox One some day as well

Understood..., I must have mistaken your intention (this is The XBOX ONE Thread). I love GT/Forza Planet and come here to read up on the latest virtual racing software/hardware but it gets tiring reading the constant slamming of a product for no other reason than it may not be the chosen product of a user. So many of the posts are very childish, made to provoke, or claiming false truths to support one's decision or opinion. Ok, I'm done rambling...

Hope it wasn't my reference to Dead Rising.

I'm not on the fence but if I was forced to buy a new console it would be because of Forza 5 mainly, Titanfall with DR and KI looking better than PS4 launch titles and this was in response to guy stating how PS4 is the clear choice. I've been looking at Knack and some others but see nothing good really.

Specs haven't helped Killzone.

Seems PS4 starts with infamous and ironically after all the PS4 power talk it might be indies who shine through early on

My own stance is £429 is too much for Forza 5 but glad to see it at launch in some form, would be very welcome if I was early adopting. I'll get both machines when price is a bit lower and catalog is more tempting.

No, not just you, various other people I know are buying the PS4 or the One with launch titles as their only reason why, Killzone is pretty, Titanfall is just not my thing (multiplayer shooter) though I do like mechs, Forza 5 looks good but I prefer GT, Knack sounded interesting but then I saw gameplay (bleh)

It won't make a huge difference which console ypu buy, I've never seen two consoles so similar, 3rd party exclusives practically don't exist anymore.

...3rd party exclusives practically don't exist anymore.
Titanfall is one I can think of - I mean the devs apparently were okay with the idea of multiplatforing the game but the deal was made by whomever is publishing it (can't remember who right now, sorry.)

I do hope that this sort of thing fades out altogether though - it's such a school-yard tactic.

Ryse takes a lot of stick, but at launch, there's always room for something flashy and this seems like it'll be visually rewarding, if not ultimately challenging.

If I had to choose between XBone and PS4 based on launch games I would go XBone because Forza.

But to be honest, I'm more inclined to make a plunge on the Wii U all things considered.

4 days until release, no?
It'll have to wait until next year, just like my Playstation. :indiff:
The games that'll be out by then should make it more worth the money, anyways. 👍

I am very tempted to bet real money that the X1 will for sure outsell the PS4. I have been saying that for MANY years and easily see the X1 outselling the PS4 in 3 years. Probably less time than that.

Yes exactly. I easily see the X1 outselling the PS4 for all the reasons I have listed year after year before this event has taken place. Xboxlive is already the best online experience on a console by a longshot. Combine that with a blu ray player along with dedicated servers and the X1 will outsell the PS4. If it doesn't happen within a year, it will happen within 3 years for sure. The only thing that kep the PS3 close to the 360 in sales was the fact the PS3 was FREE online. Now that the PS4 is charging for online, it will lose a large fanbase. Plus the X1 has dedicated servers. If you are an online gamer, dedicated servers are as good as it gets. Anyone that does not see whats about to happen, is going to be very surprised. The X1 will outsell the PS4. Might take a year or two or 3 but it will happen.

Now that we have to pay for PSN I have no interest in the PS4 at all. Especially since it does not have dedicated servers. I will be getting the X1 in early 2014.

Much has changed and this time MS doesn't have a head start, amongst other things. We'll see how much, if at all, their train wreck of a system reveal and launch issues affect the X1 sales. Good to see they've made positive change since the reveal, but I still get the feeling that those behind the X1 don't seem to know what their doing behind the wheel. Let the games begin.
