According to one of the comments on this article MS will replace any hardware that's borked by the update regardless of whether or not it's still under warranty though I guess even if that's true it won't get your saves back.

I can't see personally see them releasing the NXOE update globally if it's in this state. It'd be commercial suicide. Glad I didn't join the preview programme though.

To date, I have never downloaded anything that's a preview or in BETA form, though I did (couldn't resist) download the Star Wars BETA... so far system's working okay.

Another follow up on my situation. I went out and bought another X1 while I wait for my other X1 to be repaired. I am still waiting for a shipping label from my warranty company. Should come in today.

Bloody hellfire! My warranty has run out. I should imagine they'll have it sorted before general roll-out, otherwise it'll be lawsuit city

Quick question, I was part of the preview program on my older Xbox, recently got the Forza Xbox, is there a way to confirm if I am still using it?

It is connected to your profile, you are still in the preview program. It is also not that easy to opt out. I tried, and it looks like it will take at least 3 days to opt out. So at this point I am not sure what is going to happen on the new X1 I just bought. But I checked and I am for sure still in the beta preview program.

They have about a month to get this resolved, otherwise yes they will HAVE to bump the date of this new dashboard.

This is a beta preview testing program and you are warned in advance that it could and will have problems.

One way to tell right away is to put in a backward compatible game from the BC list and see if it lets you play right away.
So you are on the NXOE? You said new dashboard?

I am still trying to opt out but its a pain in the butt. Since I just got another new X1, I had to re-register, even to try and opt out. And that takes 3 days. Just a pain. I have a feeling it is going to try and force me into the NXOE again sometime very soon on this new X1.

Well actually they kinda do but it involves a flash drive, downloading new startup files from their site, and bypassing the X1 start up menu. I spent 4 almost 5 hours Saturday trying this with a Microsoft technician via live chat. Unfortunately it did not work for me. And I know for a fact it has not worked for others. I just did not opt out in time. Despite all the warnings, I decided to play Russian roulette and apparently my gun was fully loaded.

Scroll down to the bottom of your home screen, past your 'most recent' games and aps use and all of your Aps are there, it only take a couple of clicks and you are there. I think people will like it very much once they figure it out.

Yeah no kidding. It is the same fear I had with the RROD on the 360.
I am however very thankful I purchased an external HD. Absolute life saver. Made switching to the new X1 fairly easy once it re syncs the data from the cloud.

I still need to get a HD, I'm at 61% or something after I deleted some demos but I know it's coming soon.

Yes absolutely you do. Especially after everything you went through with your X1 already. I would recommend visiting this thread if you have an questions about an external HD. You could probably get a 2 TB external hd for about $80.00 or less now.

Update: Shipping label came in so I can finally ship this X1 out today.

A follow up of my X1 repair situation. I shipped it out late Monday night and they received it this morning and have started the repair process. Will be interesting to see if this gets repaired and back to me by the end of next week.

You should see the ambassador feedback and support pages on the official xbox forums. Loaded with people having major issues with this dashboard. (You might not be able to see the pages unless you are an ambassador) In fact MS sent out a message to everyone the day it came out saying NOT to download the NXOE. When MS themselves tell you not to use their new update, you know something is wrong. Plus like I said above, if you even mention over the phone you are in the preview program, they will instantly re-direct you to a ms employee on the xbox support site. That's how bad this thing is.

I really hope it has a smooth launch but it has been VERY rough for most beta users. I guess we will find out in about 2 weeks. Good luck.

Now that is one sweet looking pad! What are your impressions so far?

It's not worth $150 but it's indeed worth $100 or so.

• It feels heavier
• Everything feels more precise (i'll have to break it in and then report back)
• Everything that was plastic, aside from the XYAB buttons, is now actual metal, it's not hard at all to switch between adding paddles, removing them, switching joysticks and such as they're magnetized and fall into place
• I'm not fond of the braided cable so I'm using the standard One controller cable (which has the neat LED light)
• It's very adjustable; you can even change the LED intensity of the Xbox logo light on the controller through the Xbox Accessories app
• I'm not sure why there's no play and charge kit included
• The rubber gripping on the back is very useful. Your hands feel sweaty like usual but when you remove your hand, it's actually dry. It's a weird feeling.
• I'm having an issue with my Steelseries H wireless where it's not functioning properly with the 3.5mm cable I have included. I'm not sure if it's the headset or the controller or what but I can't mute and it's feedbacking for some reason. I'll figure this one out soon
  
• The short throw switch for the triggers is something I'm not used to yet but it's definitely very helpful
• There are included presets which include Halo 5 anbd FM6

All-in-all, I currently do not regret my purchase. The headset thing is super annoying and I hope to get it sorted out without the need of purchasing that god damn chat adapter thing.

Follow up on my broken X1.

Well your hope sure worked. I sent the broken X1 out last Monday the 26th at about 6:00 PM.
The warranty company received it on Wednesday 28th.
Thursday the repair shop confirmed 100% the NXOE fried the motherboard. Said it would be 7-10 for new X1.
Saturday the 31st my BRAND NEW GOW X1 bundle arrived. It was not only the X1, but the GOW Ultimate edition game, controller, HDMI cable, the entire new package!! Brand new, not a refurb, brand new!

This was an impressive 5 day turn around and I am very happy with how well the extended warranty company handled this situation.

This was not through the Microsoft warranty.
