No, I think it was you needed to pay $15 per month and the cost was $99. Spread out over 24 months. Total cost came to $450 roughly.

Ah I see. Wish there was some clarification on the subject. Pretty important rumor that needs to be confirmed/denied.

This Xbox conference was definitely about the games. I wished, like many other people out there, that Microsoft would acknowledge the whole hatebase with always connected and such, but I don't mind them not discussing it because I have internet in my area of residence.

I wish there was more Forza 5 gameplay, especially when you have a freaking Mclaren P1 on the damn stage.

I was NOT expecting MGSV gameplay right off the bat and that definitely caught me off guard.

I. WANT. TITANFALL. It's like Call of Doody (hah, doody) meets HAWKEN.

Halo reboot?

All-in-all, good conference from Microsoft and kudos for the indie titles that they announced. Also Minecraft.

Not sure what the rumor is, but subsidizing the cost like a phone (which could be viewed as a necessity) is probably not the most intelligent thing to do.

Will the Gametrailer Live Stream switch over to the EA, Ubisoft and Sony Live Stream too?

And have to ask again. Is the GPU for the XBOX One and PS4 still unannounced?

I'm guessing MS really aren't bothered about non-US sales again, just going for the home vote - the Euro and UK prices are ludicrous. Can't wait to hear the Japanese and Australian ones.[/size]

For UK I remember hmv sold the PS3 at £425 so the price point isn't that bad.
You do get a Kinect2 included of course but I think at this price they should include an incentive like 1 YR free Live Gold service or at least a free game with the system.

Then again how much is an ipad or a top end phone these days? My daughters Galaxy S3 via O2 £40pm x 24 = £960. I am guessing mobile stores like Carphone warehouse will be doing deals with decent deposits and a tablet or phone contract.

Even more interestingly what spec/price of PC do some of you think will be required for BF4 @ 60fps. Im willing to bet it will be more than £429 :)

Will be exciting if Sony undercut them but I reckon £350 - £399 is their ball park and it probably wont be the price that really makes people choose one or the other.

You don't remember the outrage and very slow sales of PS4 at £425? Also the price isn't so much the issue as the fact we're paying £100 more than the US.

I also cannot imagine Microsoft will make a huge mistake in pricing and shoot itself in the foot.

Thrustmaster wheel for Forza 5. I wonder if that means USB peripherals like keyboards will be allowed.

And it tanked. There were consoles on shelves right through the first month.

It was a stupid price then and it's a stupid price now.

Now watch PS4 go £450

Wait, I couldn't view the conference, but didn't somebody on here say that the Xbox One will be getting the BF4 DLC a month early?

If that's so, then what's gonna happen to the PS4 users that have BF4 Premium(if there is premium) who get it a month before the non-premium users?

Will it be a 2 month wait for the non-premium users?

I made fine examples of what £450 buys you these days regards tech.
People will buy it if it has "the games" PS4 harldy had a great launch line up did it.

Xbox One line up looks decent enough so far so no I do not see it struggling that much.

$500 is really not that bad for what's being given.
Way to much for what is being given, part of what is being given many of us do not want and if it is true that it is not backward compatible hardware wise then that is just the beginning of the cost.

I'm surprised even Americans aren't happy at the price, $500 seems pretty reasonable to me.
I would not pay more than $299 and even then if it does not support my existing Fanatec wheel would not want it.

$500 for a gaming machine with blu ray and Kinect is a perfect price. Also keep in mind that's STILL cheaper than the price of the PS3 at launch.
The PS3 at lanuch was basically a PS3 and a PS2 in the same box which inflated the price. I paid $299 for my PS3 without the PS2 hardware included. The New XBox is not backward compatiable and I would rather not even have the kinect included.

What do you want me to say?
I'm just pointing out, that 60FPS are not that great.
60FPS is plenty in fact anything over 30 is fine. I have some games that can play up to 200FPS on my PC and they look no different than the same game playing at 40FPS on the other PC.

However we still don't know whats going on with used games. Thought for sure they would clear up some of the confusion.
I would like to have heard something about the Fanatec wheels and other such devices. I do very little with used games but would still like to have that option.

So what we have is a box that is going to cost us $500 then $60 for each game we can get for it plus a few hundred more for extra devices that we can use with it to play the games not to mention the $60 a year to play online games. Sounds like $1000+ investment just to play Forza 5 :(

Let's hope not.

Sony seem to have learnt from their own, and Microsoft's mistakes. With a less expensive price-point worldwide, I can easily see the PS4 being dominant at least outside of the US for this generation.

I heard Sony will price at about $500-$600. Has anything been announced about HD capacity or is it pure SSD?

I made fine examples of what £450 buys you these days regards tech.

The iPhone cost the same in the US as the PS3 did at launch (they came out at around the same time after all), but the PS3 still sat on store shelves for months until the price came down and Apple couldn't make enough iPhones to meet demand.

Ya know, even with all the evil restrictions on the Xbox One, after that presentation, I'm sure the average consumer would still buy it.

People.

Please don't come up with the argument that the human eye cannot see more than 30fps

But anyways, I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to frames per seconds. I can actually see, when I'm playing on 50FPS or 70FPS. But not everyone does, and everybody sees it differently. 👍

With what we know I can't see what would bump the PS4 price close to Xbox. Main hardware wise they're basically the same, the only higher price stuff would be the GDDR5 RAM, but then they're not including anything like Kinect and also a key point they won't have any Blu-Ray licensing fees.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't turn this thread towards PC vs Console again.

Can you see your light bulbs constantly changing brightness or do they look like they are at a constant state?

I know a lot of people out there in the internet and advertising make a big deal out of stuff over 60 FPS but it really is meaningless other than to say that they could have packed in more stuff and still got it to an acceptable speed.

I've seen some graphics go as fast as 1500 FPS, just means my CPU and video card is way more than what was needed for that graphic.

But yes the PC is more powerful than any console.

I also have some doubts about the way this new XBox will handle heat, that is a pretty small box to pack all that stuff into and will likely get pretty warm.

You gave an example. Of a smartphone. On contract. And the balance of the cost you cite comes from the phone, multimedia and internet service provided to it.

They might think it's "Input One", but the Crossbone has hardly reached the complete lifestyle integration and portability of a phone yet. It's still an extravagance and a toy.

Really? I saw a few first person games, two first-person shooters (at least one of which is cross-platform), some CGI from a couple of other games in development and their close title was "Spring 2014".

And no X360 or XBox games.

And, lest we forget, there's still MS's elephants in the room they seem to refuse to talk about regarding DRM.

Best to focus on consoles, as for PS3 at launch it was a decent Blu Ray player and console. So many home cinema enthusiasts bought into it early, still getting a lot of tech for their money.

If some of you think £425 is a lot of money for the tech your getting with the new consoles, fine keep whinging. I will continue to laugh my ass off as many people here have spent similar or even more on steering wheels like the Thrustmaster or Fanatec products.

You want the latest tech then pay the price and get it or well just don't and wait.

Oh and Famine, for some Forza 5 is enough reason to get the console and yes I seen several games I liked sorry your so negative but your opinion just seems tainted with all the drm stuff which still isnt clear yet.

If it's best to compare like to like only, why did you bring up tablets and smart phones as an example of something of a similar cost that people spend money on anyway?

Because people in a niche of a niche spend more on things, that has something to do with a product that Microsoft is intentionally trying to market as a wider product?

People who buy RC cars spend a lot of money on stuff too. Does that prove that the Xbone is reasonably priced?

Fine then, go spec a PC that plays BF3 and other top end fps games @ 1080p 60fps. For £425 I think you might struggle.

Examples of other tech are to show what £425 gets you these days.
You can easily spend this amount of money and perhaps not really get any or much more value.

$500 is exactly twice as much as I've ever paid for a console. Even if there was absolutely nothing else wrong with the XBone, I would be waiting for a price drop, or a used one.

HBR-Roadhog, Forza Horizon is the silkiest 30FPS game I've ever seen, enough so that I don't really notice it as I'm playing...but the moment I switch to anything 60fps it's as obvious as a smack to the face. Even on an interlaced TV, the extra frames are there, plain as day.

I'm not saying you're wrong if you can't see it, but I can, and so can all those people on the internet.
