Things you DON'T want to see in GT5

Autosave in GT4 (and usually any game) made it hard to just play for fun. Say I wanted to waste my money tuning a car to ridiculous levels. I'd be forced to keep that car instead of just shutting off the game and forgetting about it when I was done.

The problem is made worse in GT4 since arcade mode was terrible (No access to simulation mode cars). This forced you to play sim mode to use your own cars.

I just want to control what I do in my game. Autosave is an annoyance, and cannot be helpful in any way as far as I'm concerned. I want it off, and I want to able to turn the option for turning-it-on off. (The latter is exaggeration of course, but I still really hate autosave).

Famine
You cannot. You are limited to either "On" or "Limited".

"Limited" Autosave will save each time you get into a new car, or sell one.

The option is in the Options menu...
👍 Doing a quick search would of been nice...
How to turn off Auto-Save in GT4

At least they didn't put the Jackie Chan Edition Lancers....great....

A very short list:

- Ricing.
- Cars I will never see probably, or won't have a practical use.
- Bad damage. (If it is going to be bad, better for it to not be at all. IMO.)
- Multiple copies of the same car, like we had in GT4.
- 85% Japanese cars. I'm tired of those already. I really don't care if the game was thought by a japanese man, but if I'm going to see at least two japanese cars at every race, then I will rather be pissed. Can you say "pissed" in GTP?

Another thing, worth another post.

STOP WITH THE BLOODY RANDOM COLOR PRIZE CARS!!!
I'M ALREADY TIRED OF BEING UNABLE TO HAVE SOME OF MY MOST CHERISHED CARS IN GT4 BECAUSE OF THAT DAMN FEATURE!! :mad

Thanks.

:yuck: You're right about that.. It sometimes makes me really mad seeing I can't get a certain car in a colour I want :ouch:

Imagine the pain on my 🤬 trying to get a Silver Metallic Plymouth Superbird. A red Dodge Charger Super Bee for that matter! :ouch:

I've known about that, and that was the first thing I did when I got the game. "Limited off" is still on. I want off off.
But you will be having the same amount of Cr. from all that tuning, if you don't like the car after that, then sell it. What was the point of buying a car since your going to sell it again? A game shouldn't be ruined for its fun factor because of "saving" issues.

One-time only cars are another thing I don't wish to see, at all. Prize cars for license tests, however, should be available to win from certain races once you have already obtained them once. That way, some members who sold their prize cars (like me) would be able to have them back again :)

Horrible soundtrack is another feature I hope they don't add. I had to put down the music volume in GT4 because of the soundtrack, and because I was also getting tired of hearing Canon all the time. That is the only song that I like from the whole soundtrack 👎

They could do what Forza does with prize cars, you have to win them first, but then they appear in their respected brand for sale.

As for the music, I guess I don't really care about that since I turn music off in most of my games and just use my computer for music. But I would like the option to choose what plays on the menu, no more elevator music please.

There were almost 100 songs and you only liked 1?
What music do you listen to normally?

None of the music featured in GT4's soundtrack :D System of a Down and Linkin Park are the only bands I can say I really like. But I like some songs from Korn, Metallica, and some random songs from random bands. For example, here's what my perfect playlist would look like.

-All of System of a Down.
-All of Linkin Park except for their album Reanimation.
-"Enter Sandman", "I Disappear", from Metallica.
-"Wings of a Butterfly", "Under The Rose", from H.I.M.
-"La Balada del Diablo y la Muerte", from La Renga (Argentine band.)
-"Jijiji", from Patricio Rey y los Rendonditos de Ricota (Argentine band.)
-"Bat Country", from Avenged Sevenfold.
-"Angels", from Robbie Williams.
-"Angel", "El Reino Olvidado", from Rata Blanca (Argentine band.)
-"Coming Undone", "Twisted Transistor", from Korn.
-"One Wild Night", "It's my life", from Bon Jovi.
-"Still Waiting", "The Hell Song", from Sum 41.
-"What's my age again", from Blink 182.
-"American Pie", both Don McLean and Madonna's version.
-"Look what you've done", "Other side of the world", from unknown guys, but I really like those two paired up.
-"Million Miles Away", "Dammit, I changed again", from Offspring.

And some more songs... But with those, it would be enough for me.

I think the OP should clean up the first message and instate some rules for this thread. It is a good one but I do not think people should say "I do not want to see something not in GT5". It should just be things that have been in previous GT games or other racing games (within reason).

Ok first of all, after 12 years I think we finally need to get damage. It does not have to be great it just has to be there. Also for the grinding problem, in the easy special condition hall you can to the Rally Di' Capri which is quick and really easy and win the Toyota Rally RSC SUV and sell it for 250k. So yes it is still grinding but easy grinding. Although I agree the grinding should be reduced.

Anyways I agree with the stupid 20 version of the Nissan Skyline thing. Also I can not stand all the stupid city cars or econo cars that nobody cares about. They said GT4 had 700+ cars but in reality it had about 400 good and original ones. If GT5 has say 300-500 cars but they are all desirable that is better than say a 1000 cars with half of them being crap.

I also would like to see a better "story mode". GT has always been lacking in this category. The one in GT4 was pretty bad and tedious to navigate.

I also hate the current online setup. Not just the lack of private rooms but just how it is all laid out.

This is just my opinion but I really do not like the crazy concept cars like the Nike car in GT4. They are just silly and offer no enjoyment.

I am going to have to agree with you on the need for car damage. When all the competition have car damages in the game, it is time for PD to step it up and do the same thing. Don't let the competition run away and make fun of GT's "the REAL driving simulator." Since there will be some people who will be against car damages, there should be an option to turn it off like Forza. Some people like me to keep their car clean and dent free like in real life, so I know I would turn it off. I'll just turn it on when I want to have some fun breaking the car into pieces.

One thing I do like about Forza is the car selections that were chosen to be in the game. It may not have the huge 500+ cars like GT did, but those Forza have THE cars. I don't care about the Vitz. More races with Vitz? More slow cars? Can it get any worse with these slow paced cars? No wonder why there are still many people who won't give GT a second chance when the first impression of the game is to drive a slow boring car. Even if GT do have a large fanbase, but I believe there a huge market out there that GT didnt capture as of now. Take out the cars that people won't even bother with and leave the popular ones there.

There are exceptions though, like the Civics and Scions. Those cars are still popular despite some of the bad reputation of so called "ricing." Still, I believe that without them, this entire import scene wouldnt be as big since a lot of aftermarket company really rely on those low priced cars to make money.

Anyways, that is my opinion and I really don't care much if someone wants to point out to me that I am not a true "Car Enthusiast." I will always prefer sports car or subcompact cars over family type of cars anyday.

I don't wanna start with the 10K Credits you start of with, this makes the game dull and boring, because you have to buy a slow car like the vitz, maybe if you give us like 40K credits, we can start of with a used/new RX8 or something.

Unless you have a silver spoon. More people will learn better in slow cars.

Well.......... sort of. Forza leaves out a LOT of cars which really hurt it for me, such as the Nissan 240SX. But I will concur that Gran Turismo does have a lot of dinky cars and other vehicles I'm just not all that keen about. I'd rather not see:
  • Trucks
  • SUVs like the PT Cruiser
  • Econocars like the Prius
  • Puny underpowered compacts like the old Suzuki
I'm also glad that the "drama shot" wasn't a part of Prologue's replays. Having a cool replay interrupted by a 3/4 second look at my tire leaving the track got on my nerves in GT4.

I don't want to much emphasis on online, sure it's fun and adds to the length of the game. But there I also want the offline to be as good as it has been(even better). This is really a problem with all games these days, sure it's fun but that's not what I buy games for.

Rolling Starts:
This is pretty self explanatory but I think the race should be a race and not give any car a 6+ second advantage from the start.
^^^X1,000 :)

I also would not like to see the focus on vehicles that are honestly uninteresting as performance machines (Volvo 240, Motor Wagen, Oddessy). Conversely, I certainly would be amiss should PD forget the certain cars that make every gearhead sweat...http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/03/sema-gallery-greatest-supercar-display-ever-from-michelin/, et al. sccAero, Furai.

Just sayin, driving game, drive cool cars. :D

Am I the only one that enjoys the "unnecessary" or "uninteresting" vehicles? There are already enough games that feature the popular cars. In fact, I want more fast yet unique cars dangit!

Agreed 100%. I'm pretty sure that it will have all of those cars (except maybe the Porsche). And Holy Schiznapps... that is the ultimate supercar display.

Nnnoooo, you got it wrong. Starting with a slow car makes it more fun. But on that note you don't HAVE to start with a slow car. Cars like the FTO are nice little machines. There are ways around it though. Eg. In GT4 I did my domestic b license test first, and with the credits I got from selling the VW you get plus the 10k you start with I bought a 2nd hand 4th gen Camaro Z28.👍

Please for the love of god don't put in ANY Kias.

I liked them, the Nike was one of the funner cars to drive in the game, the only cars I don't want to see are the Model T and the Chrysler wagons that only go 5 mph. I just want them to be able to enter races.

I think that if they were to include slow cars such as the Model T, or concepts such as the Nike car, they shouldn't award them for winning a race or a race series (or even a license test). They should simply allow them to be purchased from the auto company (unlock them) if you so choose (and thus presenting you with a usable car).

Have to agree. I have never liked rolling starts, or at least ones that don't allow you to take control of the car before the start so you can position yourself as close to the car in front as possible to line up an overtake into the first corner.

Rolling re-starts would be okay behind a safety car, but I can't see that happening in GT5.

I only want rolling starts in Enduros, or races with at least more than a handful of laps. None of this 10 second advantages to the lead car on a 2-lap Autumn Ring Mini race where you can't even qualify. However, no problem with them on Enduros.

Agreed. I liked how a few of the cars (can't remember all of them, but the Avantime, one of the MGs, the Triumph Spitfire, TVR Speed 12, and one of the Aston Martins, among others, were special colors of cars you could buy anyway. That's fine. I don't want to go to Dodge>Classics, find I have to do a 3 or 5 (or even 10) race series to win a car with 20+ different colors. I think, once you reach 100% completion, you should be able to buy EVERY car. All the used-only, all the prize-only, and all the '--' credit cars in the game should now be available from dealerships.

Agreed. I don't want to spend an hour on a championship to get some token Model T that you can't do anything to, or do anything with. Award them for game completion.

I don't want to see any special cars that you can't race.

Again, agreed. None of this 'you cannot continue past this point because x is a special car'.

I'd say you should start the game with 25,000cr. If people want to go the classic route and limit themselves to 10, then do it. I absolutely detest people that argue against things like this - you don't have to use them if you don't want to, but I personally do not want to HAVE to begin the game with an 89' Corolla IF I don't want to.
