After 2 weeks in France i decided to have another attempt at the Gillet Vertigo and made a slight improvement on what i had before. i managed 303.63MPH not bad but still not good enough to beat the record :indiff: more fine tuning required I think! :ill:

just got my mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 up over 300 MPH:tup:

PS: sorry about the quality i used my phone camera.:)

Shhh... Do not speak the American name too loud, or Toronado might hear it... :P

DE

Or I will.

Actually, I've got a $30 digital sitting around. Horrid quality, but I think it will work.

Got a 787B up to 291.97 so far. So close to the barrier.

EDIT: Check that, 302.23 mph!!!!!! (And you doubted me, DE. Time to grab the camera.)

EDIT 2: Well, I've GOT the picture, but unfortunately, I got VERY rudely booted from the computer that has the needed drivers (for some reason they wouldn't load on my computer) and was not given the chance to try installing the drivers again. (Wasn't given time enough to find the disc.)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to send them to myself any time soon, I don't think. Great. At least I know that I did it without a glitch or anything of the sort. Let's see what it does at Sarthe. (I've got the tail dropped on it, the nose is higher, and the car gets floaty at high speed. Ah well, I did it for 3,590,000 credits.)

EDIT 4: 306.28 mph, no changes, still at the test track.

EDIT 5: Climbed to 313.68 after gearing, but 335 is a LOOOONG way off. Going to shoot at a Playstation Pescy, see if I can catch up to a Judd with PUG POWER!

Or I will.
Hmm?

I don't see any new records yet... Anyone can do 300mph. Not everyone can get close to absolute maximum speeds... ;)
Anyway, get a photo up, and you can be in the Club.

Nice work, Cha05 and GT_KING - but, unfortunately, Cha05, I can't accept that photo as verification - there's more than one car name that ends in 'Race Car '04', so I can't tell for sure that it's the Vertigo. Sorry, but we've got to have things clear for the Leaderboard - hope you can improve for a new photo. 👍

Yeah, I know...

Wonder if I can get 300 from a MNP III Skyline...

The "Or I will" was referring to the S7.

I WILL get the 787B record, dammit!

I know, but, uh, what about it?

I have a nice 787B record, of sorts...

I don't doubt the Midnight Purple R34 is capable - but it wouldn't be a main record, just a specification record - if you really want to see your name in the Cars Used So Far list ;)

DE

You know, it is annoying to have gone through 3 Saleen S7s and still not get 300 (yes, I'm after it again. Perhaps not trying to balance the S7 out with all 3 different Ford GT road cars will prevent the settings confusion that occurred last time).
That reminds me: Has anyone gotten any of the 3 Ford GT road cars to 300 yet?

I'm surprised you're going back under the Fascist thing again, Toronado :P but good luck with it. If it's possible, I'm sure you'll manage it after the ridiculous time you've put into it.

Nope, the only 300mph GTs so far are the two versions of the race car, the 2002 original and the 2004 Spec II
Planning to change that? ;)

DE

I'm confident I can get 300 from an S7. Watch me not.

And the Flying Purple People Eater would be nice to get to 300 with.

EDIT: 292 so far!

I assume that means TVR Speed 12? Yes, it's actually pretty easy to squeeze 300 from, no matter which kind of power-boost you choose. Now, the record is something else.

I tried to get 300 out of the old Auto-Union on the basis that it was incredibly streamlined, but it would barely reach 240 even with the stage 4 turbo, and more significantly, it tended to spontaneously whirl violently around and fling itself high into the air :D

I am sure I can fix that, but there's probably no fixing the lack of power. Streamlining only takes you so far, it seems...

It's just that GT4 300MPH-runs doesn't follow common real-life rationale.

The real-life Auto Union Streamline blitzed the German Autobahn at over 240MPH back in 1938, so with an extra 400HP and nitrous, it shouldn't have a problem reaching 300MPH - however it doesn't. Meanwhile, a blocky car like the Skyline passes 300MPH without a problem.

Five quid says mine gets there first. ;)
What makes you call it the People Eater, by the way? Opponent Eater, yes... :P

Yeah, that's been tried before - I can't remember the speed it's reached here, but it's certainly not a 300mph car. Unfortunately, it lacks power or torque (possibly both), and is a bit of a no-hoper.

I wouldn't say a boost of 400bhp would get you from 240mph to 300mph in real life, but as you rightly say, GT4 is rather different. And, if I recall that car correctly, GT4 doesn't let you fit nitrous to the Streamliner.

DE

I don't know, Famine showed that the 200HP increase in that Russian Veyron made it possible to hit 276MPH, theoretically. And a Veyron isn't a streamliner.

And correct, no Nitrous in the streamliner. Though there are ways to add it ;)

But if 200bhp would theoretically add 24mph to get to 276mph, would another 200bhp add another 24mph on top of that? I'm not so sure...
Anyway, the Veyron is 4WD, so GT4 would make it capable of about 400mph if we could have some more turbos and nitrous in that thing ;)

1400bhp 4WD, MS, how does that sound? :P

DE

Yeah, but unfortunately, with an engine that size, it would only get a 50-shot boost. It'd be fast enough, anyway...

This damn Midnight Purple GT-R is badly missing the hundred-odd horsepower I was used to in the V-SpecII Nur :P

Are you baiting me?

I thought the Veyron was quite heavy, as it's essentially a luxury car on the inside? That extra weight wouldn't help the acceleration much, and thats the limiting factor for some cars on top speed runs due to the shortish distance given to reach top speed. There's then the question of whether or not the car would suffer the power shakes...

If I could have that power in the Tommy Kaira ZZII, then 400mph wouldn't be a problem: the main thing holding me back at the moment isn't an extra 500bhp, it's an extra 500 metres.

Anyway, lets take the improvements one step at a time. 380mph isn't so far away, not with my current setup. 👍

But if 200bhp would theoretically add 24mph to get to 276mph, would another 200bhp add another 24mph on top of that? I'm not so sure...
Drag is proportional to the velocity squared (amongst other things), so a linear increase in power should not bring a linear increase in speed. :)

1,888kg, yes - GT4's weight reduction system would drop that to about 1400kg, I think?

Yes, and now I've been reminded exactly how it feels... :)

Quite. :)

Anyway...

Should have focused that photo a bit better (been a long time since I've done it  ) but you can see that's 300.17mph in the Nissan Skyline GT-R34 Midnight Purple II. Good to be back... :)
