Right, I'll wait for that, then :P
Price of success.. ;)
Did you just put a one-size-fits-all setup theory on the thing, and end up with that first speed? I'm interested because I seem to remember that the HSR-II doesn't have adjustable downforce, I think I'd just run out of things to change

DE

Kind of. It was very similar to my 330mph Skyline which I dumped, but I didn't change the suspension yesterday. Shame for the lack of downforce... although it's very fast considering there's no wing on it.

Edit: Up to 308.03 with the Chapparal, i'm taking a break from the Mitsubishi...

It's pretty impossible to answer that question when we have no clue about what phone you have.

Just as it's pretty impossible to give you any help for your Supra when we don't know anything about its setup either.

DE

Popping back in to say that I currently have a new for a car previously used, and I should know whether it will work after an hour or so.

After watching macca's run then I know where my mistake was. ;) Thanks mate. :D But like I said, until I hit 400 in that SRT4 the HSR's on the shelf.

DE, if Macca would stop destroying my goals then I might have a chance. Now it's either improve 30mph in the HSR......or the extra 3mph I need for the TVR (I notice that speed hasn't improved yet Macca!! :P).....or go sulking and searching for another car.

But how? Also can anyone give me anytips on how to get another 3mph out of my Supra? Its at 297 mph.

If it's a 6.2mile Supra and you haven't oil changed it, oil change it. Thats what gave mine the boost it needed to hit 300. :)

If yours is a high-miler then I'd say find a 6.2mile one and carry the settings over. 👍

He can't. NTSC doesn't have a 6.2 mile RZ.

But he can still just make 300... I tried a couple of new speeds, my best was 298 with the Escudo. My HSR can do 325 now... i'll put all my new speeds up when my camera's battery gets replaced. :grumpy:

Don't tell him that, fool, he'll just get more records! :P

DE

It's okay DE, he's only taking all the ones I'm aiming for anyway so what's the difference!?

I'll get back to my attempts of the 3 pits of 400km/h FF hell, the SRT4, the Focus RS & the Integra. :P

Well, quite, it's not like he can take any from me, is it? ;)

Good luck with that :P I seem to remember the SRT-4 being done, though? Maybe someone can confirm I'm either right, or senile way before my time :D

:lol::lol: Hey Mafs, I was already working on the HSR when you mentioned it. But after you mentioned how fast you went, I thought of using the 'power shakes' idea. Unluckily for you, it worked well :D. I've got no GT4 time till Friday, so DE; you can put my 319mph speed up now :). I've also done 302.66 in my 300ZX :mischievous:, and my other car is dangerously close too :D

-Macca

Edit: I just saw Leonidae's comments about the 300ZX. It took him a year to reach 300mph :scared:. It took me the best part of two hours... like you said DE, price of success...

Mwahahahaha. Thanks 👍. I was hoping to possibly beat the Mitsubishi record, but I have the feeling someone else would do it before me *waits for MS to see* :). I'm only up to 324.98, and the gearing is the problem :grumpy:.

Right then, Macca, I'll put that up, then. :)

Macca
like you said DE, price of success..
Yeah.. I just want to know how you get power shakes without any downforce to help you set the damn thing up :P

Believe it or not DE, it's actually quite easy to get it into powershake mode. My problem was the gearing but looking at Macca's initial run I saw my flaws. A good heap of the powershake happens in 4th around the bend, and allows it to pick up a good dose of speed.

Senile. :P:D Seriously though, I've scoured the thread and already grilled Leo on this. The fastest before my attempts was 247mph. I've hit 248.45mph (399.82km/h) so far.

Macca, damn you bro.....stop breaking the record repeatedly, I'm getting dizzy resetting the brain for a new target speed each time.

It's a very strange setup. Ballast is important, but spring rate makes no difference, ride height makes no difference, and the gearing is just my usual random final ratio, which always works! Although the R1/R5 combo for tyres is absolutely necessary. It just feels like any racing car otherwise... Oh, almost forgot. Here's another speed to put up while you're at it. If it wasn't bouncing at that speed, i'd have the record already .

Edit: woooo I now have 300 posts!

Hmm, interesting..

Well, anyway, nice work in the Ford! I take it you're gonna keep working to stabilise it? ;)

I've finally got your HSR-II up as well - is this, possibly, the fastest speed at which a brand-new car has been introduced to the Leaderboard? I'd have to check, but nothing else seems to come to mind. Nice work, once again, and keep pushing the old thing :D

Thanks 👍. My problem with tuning is I can't stick with one car, as i'm often frustrated when I hit a wall with my cars. One day i'll do one car at a time... and for my other 2 speeds, is it ok if I show the rankings screen? Normally I wouldn't bother, but it has my 300ZX speed and the Chappy (possibly more, can't remember) together. Considering they're slowish cars, there's nothing suspicious... It also has my R92CP at 350.00mph . Just couldn't improve that one though :indiff:

No, sorry - on the rumour that, occasionally, it says slightly different things. In the same way that the figure that comes up at the end of the run isn't always accurate, the rankings screen doesn't seem to be either. Better stick to the rules on this one, just like everyone else ;) sorry mate.

Well I was sitting around today waiting on some materials to arrive and decided to work with a few of the cars that I have been aquiring lately. A couple of them I'm way under the records for because right now I just wanted to get them onto the list. I started working with the 3000 gt's little brother the FTO. Once I applied the same settings I used for the 3000 gt it only took a little tweaking of the gears to put it over 300 and over the standing record for this car. Here it is along with a few other 300+ speeds.

Whoa, nice job! With the FTO especially... maybe I should carry my settings from mty HSR! 💡

Yeah, I just realised looking at the pic... my Supra, R8, Vertigo, and the Chapparal are 0.01mph slower than I actually achieved :odd:. Ah well, it gives me more time with the Escudo and one other this weekend :mischievous:. Maybe i'll chase one of the 'barely achievable' cars...

Edit: I broke 300 with the Escudo! Woooooo! And i'm trying a couple more lost cases...

I found that the FTO and the 3000gt have simular power bands. I haven't driven the hsr so I don't know about it. With both the FTO and 3000gt I was using typical RWD high speed setups and the cars responded nicely to them.

Hmmm..... you're a very effective new tuner here... thanks for the general tip. Maybe I should chase my Viper, I was 0.06mph off last time I remember :banghead:. I'm putting the Escudo video up now...

Edit: dammit. The video won't upload, and my Viper is somehow down to 299.76! Grrr :banghead:

No comment.

I can think of one car which debuted onto the leaderboard at a quicker speed than the HSR-II: my Audi RS6 at 320.88mph. :)

I'm still alive everyone by the way, but at the moment I'm moving to a new place and into a new job, so I don't even have the opportunity to do any tuning right now.

That FTO speed is good, though I know mine can be pushed further. My speed on the board with it was done after only a few runs, and was one of the first high speed tunes I made after coming to GTPlanet. Similarly with the 3000GT I took it to around 325mph in about half an hour, but didn't really do much further with it. With the knowledge I've gained since then regarding the power shakes (as well as in general high speed tuning) I'm sure I could take both those cars higher.

Anyway, until I can get tuning again I'll just have to sit back and watch the challenges you all are setting me. :nervous: :D
