Thrustmaster T-GT Wheel Thread

It turns out T-GT is simply GT branded PS4 version based on TS-PC and isn't direct drive. I feel...

Given that the T-GT pedals and T3PA-Pro pedals use almost identical components (same metal structure, same metal pedal arms, same conical brake mod) the only real benefit to T3PA-Pro is being able to invert them.

Personally I don't think the T3PA-Pros are all that great when inverted due to relatively low spring strength, so I'd argue that for most users the T-GT pedals are just as good. So I'm not sure why people are talking about T3PA-Pro as a required upgrade on the T-GT set. It isn't.
I only quoted the pro as an upgrade comparison to the csl load cell upgrade. I agree they are no better than the tgt pedals and not a smart upgrade to the already overpriced tgt.

I only quote prices in euro. Most others in this thread are European. Sorry for the confusion.

Im just going crazy guys, i mean i've looked the new t300 GT should be a fairly new model but even this has huge issues, just CBA goin back and forth with the returns and being afraid to push the wheel so it wont break...had a tx that broke i know the feeling.
I ll just cut a hand sell it and get more money :) as a figure of speech.
For me the deal breaker is this , 3 days since i have little sleep searching and reading, my final options are these:
-Thrustmaster T500 - 480 Euro inc shipping
-T-GT - 622 euro inc shipping
-CSLE (The ps4 version is little more expensive than xbox one is any difference in these 2?) i might get gt sport and a ps4 in the future who knows
but now only pc side of things - costs me 651 with shipping w/o LC pedals normal. (131 euro just the shipment)
I might go with the xb version , but if this is better i might stick with it.
Is it really the CSLE that good? that thrumps the T-GT?
I never owned more than g29/tx level wheels , im an average racer not a pro but i sure like to feel the physics of the road and decent ffb .

What do you guys think?

I’m in euro. CSLE with LC is about 660 euro. I haven’t upgraded pedals yet, but potentially set me back 250 (incl adapter)
So potentially with tGt it’s about 850. I got the tgt with 25% discount.

CSLE is probably awesome, but not for me. If you read the forums there are still problems with firmware/ drivers, yellow/purple/blue modes. Settings etc. not really I was looking for. I just want to plug it in and play my game. I work 6/7 days a week from 12 to 22:00, 2 kids etc. not really enough time for tweaking. I loved it when I was younger. Tweaking settings, building pc, upgrading components etc.

Now I have a console and expect plug and playability with my peripherals.
It's a bit disingenuous to claim the TGT is just plug and play when it also has compatability mode to work with older games which don't officially support it and one of its main features only works on one game; all future titles will support both natively which is the important thing and devs can add native support to older titles if they so choose.

Is any wheel really plug and play compared to a controller anyway with all the tweaking needed, I don't think so and needing to press a button to change modes takes all of 10s, much less than it will take to even reach the start screen.

G29 is most plug and play for console. No firmware/drivers etc. Just plug it in and it goes and recognized by the majority of games.

For the t-GT i did not need to upgrade drivers/firmware etc. plugged it in and it works. It has 2 modes, of which 1 is for GT sport. The csl needs to switch mode every other game and regularly upgrade (beta) firmware/drivers and you have lots of settings on the wheel. A pro for the majority, but a (albeit small) con for me.

It is a personal opinion from my own personal experience. And trust me I loved tweaking/overclocking and getting the most performance out of something trivial. But I didn’t even download latest firmware. I plugged it in and it worked immediately. The 599, th8a all without plugging into a PC!

Ah fair, I didn't even think about the firmware update situation on console.

Several of its main features. Those beautiful knobs and joysticks also only gtsport.

Yes, there is value in that.

I did order the T-GT today but Im on PS4 playing almost only GT Sport. I still thought about the Fanatec. If I were on PC playing other racing games I would go for Fanatec with loadcells. When CPX adapter is back in stock I might buy the CSL loadcells.

But how can i get the thrustmaster T300 when is sooooooo unreliable i mean, im also looking for buyin a new wheel right now , owned a tx 2nd hand witch ran out of warranty , i didnt know the issues with it or that it wont last thought will be ok, and last me 9 months and died ,got 30 euros for it sold it as parts , after i bought
a g920 witch is total garbage in terms of feeling (personal opinion) comparing with the tx/t300 , sold it 1 week ago , and i dont know what to do ,
my buget is 550 can't order a fanatec because the shiping to cyprus is 150 euro only witch goes close to 650-680, i can buy a t300 alcantara for 370
a t500 for 480 or the t-gt for 622 with shpping included, just dont want to go trough the pain again with the tx/t300 50/50 reiability dont know...what to do.
The wheel i will buy it from amazon , even tho i never returned nothing to them , im still sketchy of investing 400 euro in a t300 and playin 2-3 months and chaning it again. and here in Cyprus the summers are wayyy hotter than rest of europe witch adds to the wheel.

The T-GT can be found here for 600 https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01HRYDV0M/

Not sure how long will last.

Are there any deals in the US? Everyone else seems to be getting discounts.

Btw, My T-300 has been decent for the past 2 years. However, My TX wheels (replaced one) for Xbox were garbage. Over 2 years My T-300 has developed a slight noise in the belt at times when turning left.. slightly annoying, but not a killer. I tend to use low FF resistance, so I'm thinking this is why my T-300 is still in decent shape.

I would opt for the T-GT if given he choice. You gotta think.. There will be more Gran Turismo's in the future. PS5 will probably be released in a year and a half. Imagine using this wheel on a powerful PS5 with GT7/GT Sport 2.

The knobs and Analogue sticks have worked with every sim i have used on PC :)
Thats good to hear. They dont work on ps4 with pcars2 and asetto corsa and ps4 is the propietary device, which is one of the reasons I bought it. Also the only game they work on is gtsport and not reassignable. Im glad they work for you though.

Careful about “deals”. Ie if amazon charges 800 w free shipping that might still be less than a discount w shipping. The package is very heavy. I noticed Fanatec bundle “discount” pretty much equals what shipping costs, so paying more for it on amazon is a wash w free shipping. Also getting these heavy packages across the pond is usually a deal breaker for most unless its free shipping, discount or not.

Congrats i guess for your t300 but yea , dont want to be limited to treat my wheel like a little baby....to always be carefull play with low ffb so it wont break....i rather pay 200 more even 300 more and play as i feel in that day , either full ffb with clipping :D or normal, fell me?
Im also thinking Between T-GT and CSL.
Right now im inclined to go for t-gt because of cheaper ecosystem, dont feel like spending 250 w/o shipping on a separate wheel.
The stress for me is that T-GT to be accurate and same level as CSL in terms of ffb/physics track feel, if not....meh.
Waiting for more reviews i guess, or anyone that has T-GT and tryed a fanatec to tell us the difference.

Check out The Simpit on YouTube, Cole (who used to be with inside Simracing) is quite favourable with the T-GT

To be clear though, I do not baby my T-300. I just prefer a realistic feel. In my opinion extreme ff doesn't feel like a real car. And fighting the wheel equates to slower lap times for me.

I think i ll go these days with the T-GT we ll see, i just like it too much , will make a review maybe in 4-5 weeks.
anyone knows the Torque output? of the t-gt or ts-pc? or both?

I have my tgt ff turned to the lowest setting for same reason. To me it feels right at that setting.

I'm having a small issue plugging in the Turbo Power Supply power cord has a weird slider and I'm not sure if I'm plugging the power supply all the way into the wheel or not is anybody having this problem and can you tell me how to correctly do it it seems kind of flimsy

I though exactly the same thing like there was some kind of lock in the slider or that the sleeve would go in another eighth of an inch but nothing. Just kind of halfway in it seems.

If your good with it, I guess I am to lol, I don't like it though. I wish someone could confirm.

Also simracinggirl and insidesimracing.
Simpits review is a joke. He spends fifteen minutes figuring out what the buttons do, answers questions from bloggers, then runs into the back of four different cars while braking as he says “the conical brake mod is set just about perfect”

I have the old V 1 T3PA-Pro pedals and I totally agree with you, and even mentioned earlier in this thread I preferred the new T-GT pedals. No torsion springs to fail is a plus straight away, and the conical brake mod on the newer pedals feels far better than the earlier brake mod.

I had a bit of spare time today so I've managed a rough install (wiring still needs to be hidden). Hopefully I'll get a chance to test it tomorrow or Tuesday as I'm still pretty flat out (my new car arrives tomorrow, it's like Christmas for me ATM :D). I'll definitely let you know my thoughts on the major differences.

Would be great to hear your first thoughts about the T-GT vs T500?

She is right. The csl w load cell costs way less and gives you way more.

Although I agree that overall the CSL is a better bang for the buck. Her review mixed pc use and PS4 use in her comments. On pc fanatec is a better choice by a mile. On console it is a lot closer though.

If you want the best experience for GTsport (not considering the price difference) the T-GT is the best right now. If you can get the T-GT for under €650 (price of csle LC) it is absolutely the best wheel you can get for the GT sport.

The main point that many reviewers and forums have made is that its a good wheel, but if as you correctly pointed out, it is only really great for 1 game, how can 800 usd be justified? Also, don’t get me wrong, I still like gtsport, but if its only great at that game, at least make those cool knobs and joysticks and share button (really?) mappable and useful for other things. They are locked into one funtion each half of which Ill never use. And why would you bundle a premium wheel which is presumably for serious drivers, with a relatively low end pedal set, when it is so well documented that a load cell brake is a must have for serious drivers? What this exercise (or mistake, if you will) has taught me is that tm is more of a toy manufacturer and fanatec is more for serious enthusiasts. Lesson learned, last tm product for me.
