Thrustmaster T-GT Wheel Thread

It turns out T-GT is simply GT branded PS4 version based on TS-PC and isn't direct drive. I feel...

The main point that many reviewers and forums have made is that its a good wheel, but if as you correctly pointed out, it is only really great for 1 game, how can 800 usd be justified? Also, don’t get me wrong, I still like gtsport, but if its only great at that game, at least make those cool knobs and joysticks and share button (really?) mappable and useful for other things. They are locked into one funtion each half of which Ill never use. And why would you bundle a premium wheel which is presumably for serious drivers, with a relatively low end pedal set, when it is so well documented that a load cell brake is a must have for serious drivers? What this exercise (or mistake, if you will) has taught me is that tm is more of a toy manufacturer and fanatec is more for serious adult enthusiasts. Lesson learned, last tm product for me.

I think at the $600,- I paid it is worth it solely for GTS. I had to think a long time on which wheel I wanted and while I first was set on the CSL I really found out that the sole reason I wanted a wheel was for GTS.

I’m going to spend hundreds of hours playing GTS in the forseeable future and have no interest in moving towards PC. Now that I have played for some time with the transducer I really think I don’t want to play without. I now have a setup with the T-GT base, 599 rim, CPX adapter and CSP v3’s and I don’t think I’m going to get a better setup for GTS.

I can totally get behind the notion that the T-GT is overpriced when you are looking to play other sims and have a more balanced playtime between them, hell I even think it’s too pricey at 800 for GTS. But at the 600 I paid it’s worth it to me. Solely because it’s going to be used 90% of the time for GTS.

Edit:

And on that note I just really like the fact I can plug the wheel in and don’t have to mess with setting to get the ideal experience. I just don’t have the time anymore for that. I just want to come home and get a few races in and not have to worry about getting the latest firmware and recalibarting my wheel.

I noticed you have a good brake. Im stuck with the toy brake and looking at between 200-300.00 for a decent one. Any discounts people are getting in US offset by shipping. I got free shipping.

Can I ask how much you paid for shipping? And was it 600 euros or dollars?

Would be great to hear your first thoughts about the T-GT vs T500?
The T-GT is definitely smoother, more powerful, and much easier to feel what's going on with the car. For me, the pedals are a step up from my old Pro's, mainly due to the conical brake mod (the old V 1 brake mod wasn't that flash). I haven't tried it with anything other than GT Sport yet so it's hard to give a full opinion at this stage.

Thanks! Missed your earlier comment. How is the transducergadget working?

Yes if you can buy from TMs store which only delivers to certain countries strange enough. In sweden the retailers charge 1000USD for the T-GT.
So without any discounts US customers are paying 690eu w free shipping through Amazon. So basically Amazon or one of their distributors bought a bunch of them w the discount then passed the discount along to us w free shipping and still made money.

I paid 800 usd w free shipping so you really only paid 7% less than US customers on Amazon. Assuming you only paid 40 eu for shipping.
Shipping was included in the price. The wheel retails at 799 euro. Too expensive at that price. Originally was planning to buy a CSL elite. But there are some issues with compatibility with GT sport and pcars 2. With the 25% discount it was a much more attractive deal, so went for it. Really like it so far. In my eyes it is a €500 dollar wheel and pedalset. And I paid 100 for the dfb feature. Not game changing but adds to the immersion.

Ok, so you paid 14% less than US retail. And whoever pays retail in Europe is paying 17% more at 936.00 usd! Crazy!

Still having mixed thoughts for the conical brake mod, feels almost to stiff. I've backed it off all the way from peddle. This is working for me for now. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the brake peddle using the software?

T

Thanks for posting that. Reading through it did make me feel a little better. I still want that brake tho!
Yeah getting a CSL elite set up promised to work in GTS and then finding lots of problems cant be nice. Glad I went for T-GT. Might also get those loadcells down the road even if I think the T-gt pedals worked better than expected.

It's hardly the fault of independent hardware manufacturers that Sony/MS don't use the same universal protocols on PC which work perfectly because they want to screw the consumers by making wheels obsolete and forcing wheel upgrades for $$$, then not even properly supporting them with their first party devs.

It is entirely the fault of Sony/PD that Fanatec support is poor, it's an officially licensed wheel which they had access to for months as Fanatec send out beta units to devs and they don't support it, yet somehow you guys keep blaming it on Fanatec, absolute madness!!

You wonder why Thomas doesn't say much, it's because there is f all he can do other than ask them to support it and they told him they would so that's all the info anybody outside of PD/Sony has.

I aint blaming anyone specific and feel sorry for those who bought the CSL on the manufacturers info it would be fully supported by GTS when its not. Thomas initial reply to all questions made at least me switch from Fanatec. I did not wonder why he does not say much.

I sent an email to tm support expressing my disappointment in that much money for no load cell and specifically requesting if and when one might be available. Its been almost a week..

Adjusted brake mod one-eighth from the bottom, I think I found the sweet spot. Feels pretty good now. Still happy with T-GT peddles but better feel would make me faster.

I just adjusted mine there not 5 min before I read your post.! Anxious to try it now!

I think @PocketZeven sums it perfectly in the quote I've snipped below.

Regarding the part I've highlighted: I must have missed that part, can you please point me in the direction of anyone directly blaming anyone. The issues have been mentioned, but that's about all I've seen.

Exactly it doesn’t matter who is at fault. It is the fact there are issues what is a concern for owners and potential buyers.

I cant believe someones not cranking out cpx adapters. They could make a killing right now!
Somehow I missed the last stock. Sakuzadriver ordered it one week before I wanted to order and it was out of stock! Now I might as well wait for a thrustmaster loadcell brake mod which I still hopefull thrustmaster will now be pressured to bring out. There is so much criticism from the community on the fact thrustmaster doesn’t have a loadcell option for the TS-PC/XW and T-GT. They are going to lose customers who owned the t300/G29 to fanatec CSL/CSW with loadcell combo If they dont set things right! The T3pa (pro) are decent pedals they Just miss that loadcell for braking!

They just lost me. I returned my TGT for a full refund through Amazon. I sent tm support an email and got no response. Ive seen mass market hobby producers before and this is one of them. Cheaply made products, convincing advertising, premium pricing. I will never buy one of their products again. Fanatec csl elite bundle w loadcell on the way. 689.00 usd incl shipping n tax. Done.

I thought I liked it 1/8 from the bottom but after a while of racing very difficult breaking in the corners so now I have it all the way backed to the bottom which is still good enough to make sure I don't lock it up unless I push my foot through the floor. I would love to try a load cell brake mod and I don't care who comes out with one fastest if I could get that CPX adapter I think I might go ahead and buy the CSL fanatic pedals. The rubber that makes up the mod is just very stiff I'd like it to be softer. The GT F1 cockpit the way my metal platform is angled when I push on the brake it pushes the whole platform forward. I've cranked it down and put something underneath the platform to help stabilize it a little.

And I've been messing around with the force feedback on the T GT and I leave the max tourque at 5 but I can adjust the other attribute all the way up to 10 and get a lot of feeling. I like it at 7. You can really feel your tires losing grip when they do on the track the higher the value.

I will keep the T GT base and order the fanatic peddles. I raced for 6 hours straight yesterday the wheel base never even heated up performances amazing the transducer on the front sends a great feeling through the entire cockpit not happy with the performance of peddles. The more realistic these games get the more accuracy they demand from the racer.

Exactly. Thats why Im returning my TGT. Every indication from forums and reviewers is the wheels are equal and consistent braking is very important now.
