(If it was any other track I wouldn't run... But Nürburgring is my passion...)

The only adjustment I made was downforce.

No widebody.

Racing Suspension - default

Automatic Transmission (for a while)

Oh boy... A difficult one, let's see if i can reach silver this time, that would be otherwise first time i don't get at least silver...

@half_sourly can you share current statistics, I mean I am currently placed 3618 but on 7,5% ? numbers usually look differently, don't they, I mean 7,5% would usually place me kinda place 30 000 or so?

Well it's early days and only 31k people have taken part so far.

Also this TT is nuts. 100th place is 2.4% off 1st, more than double the average to date of 1.11%.

Annoyed that I'm away until next week as this is going to be hard work. Did just 2 laps on Thursday before we left and am on 7:12...

Im done with getting fooled on Dualsense.
I recreated road atlant on ps4 with Dualshock, after 4 laps i hit a 59,384.
Im not willing to waste my time anymore for those TT until PD even it out and gave us the same ability in steeringspeed or match it at least like on ps4.

Thanks for nothing PD 🤬

You should try the same race setup on ps5 for an accurate comparison. Sometimes things like track temp vary slightly which can make a big difference. 59.38 seems excessively fast. I can't recall anyone reporting that time for the actual TT using controller.

But interesting that you saw such a big difference in your times for this TT as well.

If you turn trigger effect off on ps5 do you see similar differences in time?

You can use ds4 on ps5 i think if you install the PS4 version of the game on your ps5. Might be interesting to try that.

I will try DS4 on PS5 with PS4 version this afternoon.

But I will try it on a different track with same settings as I am not a skilled driver with a DS4.

Leave me alone with a DS4. PS4 version is deleted again

You can use ds4 on ps5 i think if you install the PS4 version of the game on your psdid the test after patch 1.16. i copy paste all settings. Even the lobby settings i was able to match after close restart close restart until it matched. I did the same now.
Edit. I matched all lobby settings exept for temp because tt didnt tell you the temp…
And i did the ps4 version on ps5 after patch 1.16 and got the same results at this time with also slightly better results.

Its really weird. And i didnt need that long. I mean i grind road atlanta on ps5 for days. I start it on ps4 and need only 4 laps to shave of 0.8 seconds.
Thats no coincident. Anyway i dont need TT.
Imagin how much money we could do in sardegna 800 in that time.
I did all mission all cafe menu all licens test exept for the broken s5 within 5 days after release and remember that time were the majority thought its undriveable. 90% were one and done and i didnt aim for the topsplit exept for S7 thats my reference for bop Changes. And btw all is done in cockpit view.

And here my time after tweeking slightly the geometry and wings to match the steering with a wheel user.

These two times are driven before patch 1.16.

So or so, something is going on and i dont waste my time anymore.

With the gold time dropping by over 0.4s overnight, it’ll end up being 0.5% gold 🤣 I wonder how much they can improve at the top.

Glad to see another "data freak" around here.

Here's what I've compiled so far, with my times included and also how much distance I drove overall:

time trials.jpg

From this data, we can conclude that we have 2 categories to classify each event as "Hard":

1. How hard it is to gold it (top prize).
2. How hard it is bronze it (minimum prize).

For number 1, the hardest to gold was Suzuka with the MP4/4 and the easiest was Dragon Trail Seaside with Gr.4 cars.

For number 2, the hardest to get a prize was, by far, the last TT, Road Atlanta with the X2019. The easiest was Red Bull Ring with the Skyline SS.

For me personally, I go by how hard it is to gold it, and while the data shows that the MP4/4 at Suzuka was the hardest, I was actually close to be on the top 100 in it. Yet, I was almost in the top 1.800 and barely scrapped for Gold with the Red Bull at Road Atlanta.

I didn't do the other 2 last TTs since I didn't have time, but it's clear the Road Atlanta is a big outlier for me, and after @RacinLei posted his thoughts and experiments, I have to conclude that the DualSense has definitely been nerfed compared to both the Wheel and the DS4.

I've tried MCA's tune, I've tried Kie's tune, both are way too slippery...after a few hours though, I managed to stabilize the rear end somewhat, at least to a comfortably manageable level. This thing does not like to ride low. The higher I put it, the more grip I got in the rear. Stiff dampers and a soft suspension will absorb the bumpy track well, stiff front compression and rear expansion will help keep the car in line under braking, but you'll still need to be careful. A slight rake angle improved downforce on the rear end and allowed the car to turn in better at low speed. Wide body, wide tire offset, roll cage...all other things standard iirc.

I have a rare engine part installed, a "high lift camshaft S", not sure how that affects the car, but I guess it's worth noting. These things mess with the max rpm of the car, which affects the gear ratios.

Yes, I did move the ballast all the way to the back. Yes, it does improve traction, but only if your rear end is not riding too low.

This one feels better. I first tried kie’s but it slides too much for me. Done a few semi attempts today but that’s enough torture on Christmas.

I really, really dislike tuning. And boy am I silencing myself there.

After i calmed a bit down and a full christmas belli i went again for it (dont like unfinished jobs) Tweeked a bit the car to get a better grip level and….
6A52EFC9-D803-4451-A97B-40C3DCD14CC1.jpeg

the rest is on me bit better here bit better there and gold should be reachable.
Only bitter taste is, what will happen on ps4 with this setup🤔 but im not trying it again on ps4. Want to achive it on ps5.

Just make sure you do this with both PS4 & PS5. The time trial challenges may have different weather/time settings from what you're capable of setting up yourself (this is why we cannot fully replicate GTWS rounds in lobbies for the perfect practice), so it's important to test it on both ends to see if there actually is a difference.

Yes I agree. I did run his tune first. But which tune to use also depends on driving style a bit.

Like I changed to Kie's which is more oversteery, but I still went faster. I guess controlled oversteer is more in the region what I want with this car. I feel like I can get earlier on the throttle with Kie's tune since the car turns in better. That's what I want really, my driving style is aggressive and early on the throttle, which is why I struggle with tyre saving so much. But one one lap I tend to go quicker with a bit more oversteer.
More oversteery is generally faster, as long as it stays controllable.

I did, was a lot back and forward to match it.
I do it online, lobby no wind, All penaltys on like in the tt.

Edit:
😭😭😭 messed it up in the last corners

So we are going from wheel advantage to apparently PS4 advantage or PS5 disadvantage? 🤣, I'm still on PS4 ...... doesn't feel like advantage here... 🤣, the disadventage is the car people..... 🤣🤣
But seriously, I haven't played on PS5 so I can't tell the difference.
I just dont complain and try again.... works best for me 😁🤣

@Gomario JSP
Dualshock advantage over Dualsense and overall advantage for Steering wheel.

Edit: in fact, the only thing they should do is bring the dualsense back to patch 1.21 state and increes a bit the steering speed to match Wheel user. With patch 1.27 they reduce slightly the max steering angel. With patch 1.24 they removed the tire grip response via haptik feedback.

I just set up a TT to look at this. Having done a lot of laps over the last two week, the TT combo feels very different to the TT Event. More traction, more grip, not surprised you've got a better time.
