Some mega laps being put in here people, congrats.

Here's a setup that an Australian driver Jester made, I used it myself to execute a 6'46.5 lap.

Only difference in the images I've uploaded is I altered the LSD to 5/30/25.
Having tried most of what's been posted up here, this is the one that works best for me on DS4. It's slightly understeery, which equals safer for me, and less spikey. The settings also allow you to run a bit of kerb without killing you, which is a big help. I'm going to use it as a base going forwards. I'm still looking for over four seconds, which is a lot.The others are too stiff for my abilities, but clearly some people are making them work.

Lessons learned here:

1. Setups can make a huge difference, both in terms of outright pace and consistency.
2. The fastest drivers will still be near the top end.
3. Some setups' effectiveness depends on the input device.
4. IMO, you know whether the setup is going to be good for you by the time you reach Aremberg (and to get gold you need to be there in <1:16) as you've had a good mix of corners, bumps and kerbs by that point.

Was probably on a near Gold run only to screw it up at the Stefan-Bellof-S and put the car on the grass. Like seriously, this part of the circuit is not only nerve-racking because you have to take it flat-out, but the car is so unstable either on a kerb or even touching the grass that at that speed you just lose it...

It was the only lap I completed on my near 1 hour session today  and it was a 6:58.7xx but I easily lost 2 or 3 seconds going into the grass. I was surprised I didn't get a penalty but I guess when you brake while off-track (on the outside of the corner) you don't get penalized for some reason.

If the gold time remains a 6:54, I think it's barely reachable once I get the setup I am comfortable with and nail a lap... However, if it keeps getting down to a 6:52 or something, it's going to be the hardest TT so far, even harder than the previous one with the Red Bull.

Who would have thought that someday I'd be faster than a Gran Turismo elite player (even for some hours) on a time trial with a dog of a car at the most difficult track... using a poor controller :dunce:

Thanks to @Metalgear9493 for sharing the very useful tune! 6:51.572 and there's still room for improvement. The next days will be hot.

So I used @Mistah_MCA's tune for 2 days, running 4 laps each day. Then I ran @NekoPufferPPP's slightly altered one, which felt a little bit more stable as long as you are extremely careful around the curbs. Again 2 sessions at 4 laps each. Each time I've gone out there, I've picked up 1 second. My latest tonight was a 7:00.332 in a quick session after getting home late from the family Christmas party. My optimal was a 58.909. Sub 7 remains so close.

I've yet to try Kie or Jester's, but I definitely want to give them a go. Whatever tune feels best I will primarily focus on and dedicate more time using later in the TT.

So far, I wasn't able to get anyone's tune to work totally for me, though @praiano63's was by far the best to drive (for me personally) of the ones posted so far. After much tweaking, this was the setup I settled on. I have no idea how anyone is running anything less than maximum downforce at both ends of the car, so that might be what's making this so difficult for me, but I currently have a time of 6:54.227, which at the time of writing is good enough for gold by 0.7s (which is admittedly not much on a track this large...).

I also haven't made any adjustments to the gearbox settings.

Edit: I've now adjusted the BB to +4 and set a time of 6:53.803.

Interesting setup!, I'm going to give this a try!

Even though I hate driving this car and I don't know the track at all, I'm going to give this a go next week when I'm on holiday. First to learn the track, and then attempt to get gold. We'll see how it goes :D
Is this your first Gran Turismo? Or did you never care much for this track?

Never got to learning this track, I've driven it on GT4 but that was a very long time ago, forgot everything. It's literally the only track that I didn't do circuit experience for on GT7. I did couple of sectors for the mission/licence tests but that's about it.

Anyone else having issues with the ghost?

My game hangs when I cross the start line (whether the ghost is visible or not), I assume as the ghost loads in. The game is still running as there's a jump when it catches up, which is right around the braking point for T1, which is really helpful.

The loaded ghost also isn't resetting in each sector, so I can't follow it, which is the whole point of having it. I'm losing so much time over the lap, I need that sector reset to learn from the fastest times.

PS4, obviously.

I've been using a hodge-podge of tunes, combining some stuff from three different ones as well as some personal adjustments. Got my time down to 56.2 which is almost four seconds up from what I was yesterday. Silver is a shoe-in at this point... but I don't want silver.

Need ~1.4 seconds to hit gold. Still seems unachievable, but maybe with the right tune it'll come. Regardless, I am not ignorant to think that gold time won't be going down.

ETA - Anyone notice the next TT is up on the site? Very limited information, but what it is showing is:

RH tires at Sardegna C. So likely Gr3 or Gr4 cars.

I don't know how it is for others but ghost only reset on first lap here. If I want to chase it, I mean it reset, I have to get out of time trial and then start it again. And then again on second lap it doesn't reset, so leave TT and start again, stupid I know, tell me about it , or tell PD about it 😁

After getting back from family Christmas festivities last night I had some time to run about 500km and managed to knock a good 4.5 seconds off my PB from Thursday/Friday. At first I struggled to find the right setup, but eventually sorted out the forklift feel (car felt like steering with the rear wheels). Built two different NSXs whereas the 3.4l stroked/bored up car got me better lap times. The setup I ended up with feels a lot more stable and gave me enough confidence to start pushing the car and myself more. Once I got the hang of stabilizing the car with throttle control and steering input the seconds started dropping off my lap times. In the end, I really had a blast with tuning and the driving experience. Finding the right balance while occasionally going a bit sideways is so much fun. So rewarding getting clean(ish) laps in. And the pure NA sound <3

At first I was sceptic about a TT with tuning available. Predictably huge gaps between aliens and the average Joe plus so much room for exploits. For me it has turned out to be the most fun and engaging one so far. A two week challenge with only driving a single or even multiple cars without tuning got boring really quick – I can only improve so much with my lap times and after usually hitting a wall after 3-4 days I tend to lose interest in the game until the next TT comes up.

Edit: time set on PS4 with DS4.

Some months ago I think we had a Gr3 daily race on Sardegna C, I actually liked it very much, the 911 was a beast :)

Still a long way to go... 7:21, with ideal 7:15

For the most of the time i'm driving in read and react. I'm using Mistah, overall very good (again, i would not be able to generate my own, so many thanks), a bit unstable when i lift off, tc set to 1 is probably avoiding the same issue when accelerate

I'm hoping there isn't much more time to find because I'm at like 2.8% and I REALLY don't want to go at it again. I just don't find the combo enjoyable.

The ghost isn't resetting for me either. PS5. I can hang with it until the long up hill back "straight" then it's gone.

It's really annoying not being able to see it as a reference.

I mean, I'm losing almost 1.5 seconds per mile. That's huge. And it's so big that it shouldn't be hard to find some of it. So I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. Watching replays above, I'm 5 mph down under the bridge at the end of the straight, so maybe my gearing needs work.

I'm finding a tenth here and there, I'm not seeing chunks of time coming off. The fact others are 5 seconds faster using the same set up tells me that it's my issue.

The Nordschleife is one of those circuits for me where the car never feels connected to the tarmac and you're never far from one small deviation putting you in the wall. It's still about trying not to crash rather than getting the most from the car.
