Mikael has been getting feedback on the popularity of Time Trials and the need for greater variety in Daily Races. Which he is passing onto PD.
Not sure who Mikael is.

What’s desperately missing in GTS/GT7 is the ability to see what setup everyone is using. Many games like Project Cars and F1 allow you to see or download setups used by any player so you can try them or at least get inspiration for your own tune.

Could have been alot worse with a swapped abarth 500 🤣 I tried the ring with it and have seen alot of blue wheelie skies and curb on the wrong side of the car 🤣

I think I'm going like this one with the NSX, the tuning part I'm not so sure yet, but the fact that you can tweak to solve bad car handling is a real plus, now we realy have to understand the numbers!, gonna take some time but should be fun 😁

I can agree with setting a bronze percentage which is more attainable by everyone, but I don't think there should be a prize purely for participating, or that the highest rewards should be available for everyone, since it just removes the challenge and incentive to try to improve. But in general i would say even as it is now at 10% it is attainable by anyone that is willing to learn the combo.

in my experience these time trials and their rewards have been really good. I only started playing with the release of gt7, and there was a learning curve to be able to gold the licenses, missions and circuit experiences. But I'm glad they were a challenge and pushed me to become a better driver, and the level that pushed me to allows me to get into gold for these time trials, and time trials are one of the few things that keep the game fresh and challenging.

As you say there is a large skill spread in this game, and somehow you have to cater to them all. And I think the way PD has done it by setting a percentage from the best time is extremely fair and smart. It means as many people as want to can get the reward, and it's not capped for say the top 3%. But yeah some people will need to spend a lot more effort to get into the reward zone than others. Personally I have spent anywhere from a couple hundred to several thousand (road Atlanta) kilometres. But most of the time all you need for gold is knowing the braking points, gearing and apex speeds, and a rough idea of the lines. You usually don't need track limit abuse etc unless you want to be in the very top.

Just like the circuit experience, obviously nordschleife is going to be hard since it is so long, but the time trial is there now as an incentive for anyone no matter how good to practice and learn and improve and see what they are capable of. Some won't make it into bronze, but I don't think it is fair to equate that to the system being designed to screw them over and not allow them to have fun. The fun of a time trial is specifically to learn how to drive faster to set the faster lap. And for some that just doesn't appeal, and that's ok since there is other content in that case.

Perfectly well said. It's the whole purpose of these TTs, to lean from the best and improve ourselves, the rewards are just an extra incentive. I particularly don't agree with the amount.
2 million credits for what is basically improving yourself to be within 3% of the absolute best time set in the world during 2 WEEKS seems way too low. For comparison, the Silver price which is a far, faaar more achievable 5% is only half at 1 million. But this is a different matter, and aside from the "puny" gold prize, I really can't complain about how PD sets up these TTs because everyone is in equal footing.

The only thing that is not equal is the controller vs wheel users. Which I believe can still be improved. But at the same time, someone who wastes 300-400€ for a wheel being on the same level as someone with the "stock" controller of the console would sound "unfair", but then you also have to think that a wheel isn't just for making you faster, it's an "experience", an "immersion", which is what makes it a lot more fun than just using the controller.

If there is one thing that I have specialized in, it's street cars on Nordschleife. That being said, had two sessions today with first producing a 7:09:2 and the second a 7:04:4. So this is an extremely demanding challenge for even seasoned veterans (I have without a doubt more than 5000 simulator laps on the Nordschleife, on various simulators). The thing though is, I had zero miles on my NSX in GT7, so the first try was a very quick own tune and second try was with Mistah MCA's tune. Neither one is perfect for me, and I am fine with it. This is a track that I know, a car that I do not know and tuning gives me the tools to get those ends to meet. Not sure how far I'm gonna get, but sub 7 shouldn't be a problem. Gold is literally vanishing in the horizon though.

If your goal is getting gold, then pass this. If you want the PhD experience on what tuning in GT7 can achieve, enjoy. 'Schleife throws everything at you all the time, so if you get the car to a place where you feel confident and consistent through a full lap, you have already achieved a lot.

Did 7 laps... ooooh, i'm not good at it, but i like it. My ideal is 7:22, my best is 10s slower.
This is drive to survive, remembering turns is too hard, not to mention braking and acceleration point.

Would like to have the minimap of the hud a bit higher and closer to mid screen. It helps me to figure out what is in front of me. The place it is force me to switch eye focus up and down, which may be distracting.

I still do not trust the car. Better said, i do not trust myself, the Mistah car is a game changer compared with i would have bene able to setup. Kudos to Mistah

I also do not trust kurbs and i'm avoiding them at all costs.

Brutality it is once again for GT7's time trial - this time though it's more manageable and enjoyable and less of a sadistic mayhem that we encountered at Road Atlanta. :grumpy:

Using the setup of @Mistah_MCA as a base tune, I tweaked the anti-roll bars, toe and gear ratios to my liking and ended with a 6:54.993  (DualSense)

The heartbeat went a bit high at the Bellof Esses as I almost binned this very good lap, but hey-ho it was good enough.

I took out my red NSX (widebody) thinking that it'd be a walk in the park but no. It wasn't exactly set up for the track so I decided to buy another one in blue. After adding all the necessary performance upgrades I managed a 7:03.650. I did the same thing for the red one but I found it to be more unstable. Perhaps I tuned it wrong. I'll go back to the drawing board today and see it I can improve my time, but it's going to involve a lot of trial and error to see what works for me.

This is going to be tough. Might have to write off the gold, which pains me to say. Using MCA's tune and doing ~120 miles (I think I only completed four laps) I am sitting at a 7:01.9. I'd need to find like seven seconds minimum to feel good... and I just don't see that happening. Going to keep trying, though!

I'm not even going to consider the percentages for this one. I'm more curious at participation. I assert that this will be the lowest participation time trail ever. Maybe the percentages will be better than road atlanta but who knows there, I do feel far more certain that less people are even going to try. PD really did not want people to have a fun holiday in this game heh. Well, unless you're a part of that tiny minority this time trail appeals to haha.

I can appreciate them wanting to have this, but they should have also known this was going to be insanely unpopular (numbers wise) so having two would have been the better way to introduce this. You could have Nur. for the aliens and some other, more popular, time trail for the rest of us heh.

I will give it a go, but I'm not going to try nearly as hard as I did at road atlanta. I'm old and memorizing a 7 minute lap course is possibly outside of my mental capacity lol.
There’s little more rewarding in GT than lapping the Ring whether for TT or the occasional Sport race, in any format. Memorizing the circuit, and every bump and curb profile, is well worth the investment. You won’t regret that long term.

Whenever I need a brain cleanser or a break from garbage racing lobbies I dial up a drive at the Ring and reset my nerves. The muscle memory and rhythm of the Green Hell is a tonic for a lot of the real world BS too.

Great work. I tried @Mistah_MCA tune (thanks so much for sharing!) but really struggled with the snap oversteer and had to soften the rear bar and raise the ride height a little.

I did 2 reasonable laps, with a best at 7:03 ish and optimal just under 7 mins. Finding another 8 seconds for gold is going to be a real challenge. My gold streak might end here….

I used to hate the Nordschleife when I was younger, probably because I didn't know my way around. Once I actually learned the track in GT5 though, I fell in love with it. It can be frustrating when you make a mistake, but the satisfaction when you nail that one lap is totally worth it. I was excited to see the next TT was here. Less excited when I saw tuning was allowed. I hate tuning events. I much prefer things stock so no one has a huge advantage. :grumpy:

Sooo, I bought the NSX (no, I had not grabbed one yet in GT7), stuck on @Mistah_MCA's tune, and hopped on the track. I proceeded to spin coming out of the first corner. Even with the tune, this thing is tail happy on acceleration. It took a couple of laps to really get used to the car, but I started to get a handle on it. I only did 4 laps with my best being a 7:03.714 and an 'ideal' lap of 7:01.1 on the table. Given more practice, sub 7 minutes is certainly doable. I'm afraid gold may be out of range again given the combination of aliens, tuning, and a long, twisting, bumpy, narrow track. In any case, even if I don't achieve gold, it's going to be much more fun than the previous TT for me.

I have no need to post since you just PERFECTLY resumed my thoughts... Thanks! Keep on pushing man! We got this!

I heard that that MCA dude is okay.

But jokes aside, I have the tuning sheet below, in case you don't want to see my stupid face want to save it for later. I also have the following from GT Auto:
  • Widebody
  • Aftermarket wheels (wide offset and trim, non-default size)
  • Front bumper (A and B function the same, so pick the cooler one)
  • Side skirt (A and B function the same, so pick the cooler one)
  • Rear Bumper A
  • Wing A
  • Roll Cage (any)

Currently down to 6:55.3 with the tune... A. Lee is also using this tune, and is on a 6:51. This car is also a demon spawn. :scared:

Thanks very much for the tune, @Mistah_MCA, I "shaved' 54 seconds off my best from last night in the bog standard car!

Still nowhere near bronze - if they'd expand bronze to 15% like they did in another TT, I might have a bit of a chance, but at 10% I just do not know where I can find all the missing seconds!! 😱

As per usual, everyone complains about the lack of tuning until PD actually introduces tuning.

Just for a laugh, I decided to rent the car and drive three laps in the stock configuration. The result was ... not great. I couldn't quite crack 8min, but a few more laps would have got me there. So I guess it's time to add some power, purge some weight and add some much needed downforce.

Let's go!

Spend 1 hour this morning trying to find a good setup for the NSX, Kie and Micha's setup don't do it for me, maby because im on DS4?
Loosing alot of time on trying to get car to the apex, then on the longer corners there is alot of oversteer but no power to realy manage it so i have to lift instead of throttle control it to avoid the some sort of slow snap oversteer.
Only managed 7:07 for the first session with a car i don't like, and some lawn mowing....
Trying to find a less sliding tune is key i guess

Going to take alot of time for me to find a suitable tune, gold is NOT possible if i look at the top times allready, but that was expected
Going to hunt for silver.

7:40 with a stock rental. I'm surprised at the amount of grip once I remembered how to drive a non race MR. Also very forgiving on the track limits. Time to tune for the first time on GT7.

Managed a 6:58 on DS4. The tyres don't seem to be connected to the tarmac at all while setting up a car without telemetry is more or less trial and error, making tuning feel like a gimmick. Did improve high speed stability by a margin compared to my first setups, though. Yet it still drives like a forklift.
