I'm going to try those longer gears myself then

Basically, the high speed corners where you can't take them flatout. You have to do a small amount of braking or coasting (for me I really have to brake) and take them at very high speed.

Yeah those 3 are definitely amongst the hardest corners of this Time Trial. Galgenkopf (the long right hander before the final straight) can also be a pain to nail sometimes, and again, it is fairly high speed.

The section of corners from Karussell to kleines Karusell is the part of the track where I lose the most time compared to the top times. It's a lot of twisty corners alongside some being down and uphill and they are also done at high-speed. It's my favourite part of the track, but it seems like with this car as it is tuned, I'm just not brave enough to do it...
It takes a few laps to get used to being in a lower gear than you may have been doing.
Plus the max torque is 259.6, my previous gears the max torque was 273.8.....

Edit: Just dropped another 1.7 seconds, 6:59.155, yikes,put me in 1999th place,less then 5 secs from gold,wth!:boggled:

I don't know but changing to larger (and wider) wheels was one of the first things some of the fast guys did; Mistah MCA (18"), Kie25 (19"), Digit also 19" given he used Kie's setup as his starting point.

I suspect it is car and track specific, in this case to provide stability through the many twists and turns.
Yeh, I put 19" on but can't improve on 7:12, am using digits tune, may play around with the gears,if I get chance.

Happy new year all! :)

Went back on track last evening to see if I could improve with the NSX. I already had gold but wanted to make sure Fraga would not steal it from me a second time . However, after a couple of good runs, it seemed mission impossible to get under the 54's again. I was running 6:56 - 6:58 laps steady but nothing better until I got lost in my thoughts and then... Boom!

Don't ask me how, but it felt like my brain was on autopilot for a moment; It took me a good 3 minutes to realize I was ahead of my ghost...It woke me up like a cold shower and instantly brought back the "shaky hands on a good lap" syndrome.

This time though, I managed to control my nerves a little bit, and got away with a 6:53.5 - Finally! Done. This should be safe.

Oooof, what a grind that was... Lets hope these insanely difficult TT's don't become a trend in the future cuz I've been pulling my hair for about a month now. - I'm off until the next one, take care folks and good luck!

Currently at 7:10, with my best in the 7:07

I like the challange, but I think I'm close to my limits.
Main issue is that I don't have enough CPU+Memory to drive, survive, understand where/how can I improve racing lines, use the feedback for the next lap

I'm quite sure that if I could execute the same circuit piece a few times in a row without waiting 7 mins I would improve a lot.
Doing this with the single player TT is not helping, the car is way different.

But that's the way it is, and I'm happy with it.
I have this insane thought in my mind to go for the single player TT gold, when this challenge is done, but I read somewhere that single player TT gold is probably just for real men

Does anyone know if changing the wheel/tyre size makes any difference?
The answer is yes. Wide obviously gives more grip.

But what I've discovered is that in this combo 15' rims have more tyre flex when compared to 19'

Basicly bigger rims = more grip.

My setup was built on 15' rims. To get similar cornering on 19' rims I need to increase front toe to 0.25

Hi

Hiropairippu,

thanks for posting your tune, it was just what I needed to overcome the last 5 tenths of a sec to get me $1 mill.

I must also thank Metalgear9493 for his gearing, without which I wouldn't have this big smile on my face.
Thanks fellas and Happy New Year from Darwin, OZ.

Best wishes to everyone 🍻

Not a big poster myself but lurking around this thread for tips and tricks. Thanks to everyone for sharing.

My goal was below 7 minutes but gold time is beyond my capabilities and patience. Got to 7:00,1xx with great tune from @praiano63. His tunes are usually very good for my style / capabilities but could not break into the 6 minute.
Almost broke my DS4 while being on course for 6 minute lap only to mess it up at Tiergarten/Hohenrain.

Today had some time and tried @MadMax his tune. A lot less stable as I was used to with previous tune, but after an hour practice finally broke into the 6 minute with a 6:57,484.

I'm done with this TT, for me the most difficult up till now. Respect for the few into the Gold times.

Watching the fastest lap, the straightline speed suggest it's running less downforce than the set-ups we've been using, but has a load of cornering grip. I spent an hour on it tonight but I can't get the tune right. I've gained another second. I need to find a bit more.

Yeah, keep pushing!

It's not every day that we have Global Competition on the most challenging track in the world, racing against famous Aliens like Igor, Gallo, Inostroza...

Let's enjoy the last moments. ;)

Well done legend!!!!! I was just 1.5 up on my best lap (a 6.55.1) and binned the very last corner!!! I didn't even swear, I just smiled and thought about how ridiculous it was..... to be fair, I think I've crashed on every corner now....
This is the stuff of legends  Had the exact same happen to me with a 2.4 over my 6:55.9 which would make it a pretty solid time to be gold in the end... And today after another 200-300km worth of tries, I failed to even get a full lap. As soon as I noticed my ghost was close to me or ahead of me by the start of the straight I gave up and restarted the lap... And yeah, the rest was pretty much crashing on every corner.

I feel your pain. A few laps before my 6:53 I was tracking for a 6:52 at the sector time check at Dottinger Hohe. I spent the whole straight telling myself that a smooth, conservative finish would guarantee gold. No need to push, you've got a couple of seconds up your sleeve... Cue the yips in the last little esses and a meeting with Barry R. I nearly gave up there and then.

Well I just want to say, well done to anyone who went under 7mins, I'm stuck still on 7:12, every time I'm ahead of my ghost,I manage to panic and prang it, and those esses near the end, I just cannot keep the car happy.
Do you mean Stefan Bellof between the Pflanzgartens? If you keep it pinned you can put two wheels on the grass at the middle left hander without the car getting too unbalanced. (Even going fully off track doesn't get a penalty, but you'll have dirty tyres for Schwalbenschwanz.) I only get into trouble if I try and steer too much through there.

Ah no, I mean the chicane at the end of dottinger hoe, I think it's called hohenrain?
