I did a few "final" setup changes based on feedback.

Now it's easier to drive and accelerates faster.

The lap is in the vod right before this clip and replay from 3rd person view right after.

No more tuning , only hotlapping.

Well i tried that set-up and nope, couldn't control the car in corners at all ,but i did keep your tranny numbers with my suspension and 2 laps later got back in the silver zone with a 7:02.082,Tks,and have a Happy New Beer!

Easily done.

I find the best thing to do is to get a base setup and then copy it and edit the copy. That way, I can always find my way back to a known good spot by loading up the base settings again.

Don't buy another! The Jester setup is relatively stable and predictable. Load that back in and chip away at the time.
Also don't forget to do an oil change,it'll bring bhp back up.

The key is to not coast, but to use trail braking and/or at least partial throttle at all times.

I’ve been anchored at 6:56.xxx since day 2. Since today is a lazy New Year’s Day I ran a few more laps hoping that if I string together a good one I might get to 6:55.xxx

That was a mistake. I am now at 6:54.7xx and suddenly thinking about gold which will mean more frustrating grinding. Why do I do this to myself? :banghead:

Hey, @QTheRacer_31, look who's leading the Circuit Experience...

He - just like me - is obsessed with this track... (The only difference is that I'm terrestrial....).

He may come back to improve even without anyone overtaking him.

Well I'm gonna post my best run on Youtube and post it here or in a seperate forum later. So, it is 7'51.327, I have ran a total of 65 laps over the past week and I always seem to get between this and 7'59.900, but my worst was 8'03.505. I spent a lot of money doing major tuning and tweaking and still no luck. I don't get it, really.

That's quite consistent so I'd say you're easily capable of dropping the time. But also seems like you're doing the same thing over and over again and expecting change. You probably have to actively take steps to try to find pace. If you haven't done the circuit experience then I'd recommend that. A lot of it carries over to this time trial and you'll get 6million at the same time.

I was able to get a bronze time on my first clean lap since I knew the track from the circuit experience and then i started trying tunes etc but got similar times every time. Wasn't until I stopped worrying about the tune and started optimising each corner by looking at breaking points, lines and corner speeds from replays that I was able to push the time down. But yeah it's a long track and driving on the edge leads to a lot of crashes so I can't be bothered pushing this one too much. Not worth the effort, and limited time with the holidays anyway.

Does anyone know if changing the wheel/tyre size makes any difference?
I don't know but changing to larger (and wider) wheels was one of the first things some of the fast guys did; Mistah MCA (18"), Kie25 (19"), Digit also 19" given he used Kie's setup as his starting point.

I suspect it is car and track specific, in this case to provide stability through the many twists and turns.

Finally got going on return from Christmas break. Before the break I did only two laps with Mistah MCA's tune and did 7:12.

Played around with tunes, trying Digit's, Jester's (via Metalgear), Mistah MCA's again and eventually landing on Kie25's.

Been chipping away and currently at 6:55.018. Will hopefully find the last 0.6 sec before the deadline but there are so many places to mess it up. I keep finding new ones...

For now though I'm off to celebrate the New Year. Happy New Year everyone.
Done :). As long as they don't go too much quicker.

Less than 1.000 players have achieved gold...

This one is really going to be tough. The problem is quite obviously the lenght of the track and how many corners it has. I've chipped away 3 seconds off my best time of a few days ago and I'm now at a 6:55.9xx ... About 1.5 seconds off the gold time.

Considering how long it is, 1.5 seconds in over 170 corners should be easy right? ... Wishful thinking. As soon as you are on a good lap, one corner decides to get narrower or something or the grass just decides to bite you in the ass and f* everything up. Was 2.4 seconds on my ghost until I outbraked myself on the final few corners (after the long straight), after about a 500km session. :banghead:
My DualSense was lucky to be alive...

Tomorrow is another day, at least I know for certain I can do it. Just need to have the patience... And be fortunate that the aliens don't raise the bar even higher.

I'm really just wrapping my brain to try to figure out how the aliens even keep improving little by little cause whenever I get a good lap some devilish corner screws it up and then I have to start over. I don't think I'm doing anymore Nordschleife time trials unless it is with a stronger Gr 1,3, or 4 car that can brake smoother.

Here is one of my videos I uploaded yesterday:

The butthole clenching corners for me are Mutkurve (I get this one right maybe 25% of the time), oddly enough Metzgesfeld, and of course Flugplatz. At least if I jack up Flugplatz, it doesn't bother me as much since it is still early in the lap, so restarting isn't as much of a pain.

I still haven't improved on my 6:56.xxx whatever I ran a few days ago. Granted, I haven't spent every day on the TT since. But even when I have put some time in, I'm just gotten frustrated not being able to pick up any time thanks to mistakes. :grumpy:

I definitely recommend your gears to anyone looking to pick up some time.
I dropped close to another half second with them, down to 7:00.843 ,that's about 1.7 seconds gained so far.
I'm going to try those longer gears myself then

Basically, the high speed corners where you can't take them flatout. You have to do a small amount of braking or coasting (for me I really have to brake) and take them at very high speed.

Yeah those 3 are definitely amongst the hardest corners of this Time Trial. Galgenkopf (the long right hander before the final straight) can also be a pain to nail sometimes, and again, it is fairly high speed.

The section of corners from Karussell to kleines Karusell is the part of the track where I lose the most time compared to the top times. It's a lot of twisty corners alongside some being down and uphill and they are also done at high-speed. It's my favourite part of the track, but it seems like with this car as it is tuned, I'm just not brave enough to do it...

A nice 3 second improvement to get 7:08.859 with @Jeje6410 tune, but I cracked and turned up traction control to 1.
Yeah, it kills acceleration a lot, but it also numbs those horrendous snaps so the car seems driveable again.
If anyone is struggling to get bronze, turning up TC might help to shave off some precious seconds.

That's it for me - 7:08 is a decent time. I like this track and this TT despite the tricky car.

I'm gonna try to aim for bronze these next three days but idk about silver or gold! Let's hope for the best out there.
