Consistency is my new master word 😅

10 laps, with a medium time of 1'32:100, best previous medium time : 1'33.406, improvement improvement... but no improvement on my best lap
Gran Turismo™ 7_20230320195658.jpg

Tried to lower TCS to 2 for those 10 laps. Not sure if the gain by getting power earlier is not counter-balanced by the loss of traction to exit corners... Not clear for me.

Tried 3 other laps with TCS 1, it does not seem to be better either.

I have to try again with TCS 3 to check.

Sorry I missed this one! Actually for some reason the corkscrew is the only place I didn't have to brake early with it. The tune suffers the same understeer problem as many of the other ones, but just have to change the way you drive to make it work.
I only did 6 laps total with it, but I did a 1:29.5** with it with TC at 1, high 29's without, and optimal was low 29's. With more time it's capable of 28's.
thanks a lot for your feedback !!!! It's a real pleasure for me to see that you took the time to try it !!!! Thanks again

I assume you're using a controller?
The game seems to use TC algorithms from early 90's cars as it just kills power. Give TC 1 a shot again but focus on taking an extra second to fully press the throttle coming out of the slower turns, or getting on the throttle a little later in the turn (Haven't seen your lap so am only guessing by the times). TC 3 or even 2 really kills the power making it seemingly useless in anything but a slow rain race.

@W1gglyStyl3 @sdi_03 I’ll stop tagging you soon but once again, thank you for this magic! I love W1ggly’s version and it drives so perfectly with CS OFF. Plus I’ll never not enjoy saying or typing his username.

It is FAST (for me). A nice clean lap but almost every corner I’ve done better. I’m not going to say 1:26’s are in sight but where do you go from here as a target? I was 115th in the NSX/Daytona TT. Do I dare dream of top 100?? 🤓

@Gomario JSP forget the kitchen and get on this tune and have some fun!!

Cheers!
glad to hear that you found it helpfull.
Of course, sdi_03 deserves all credit for creating the fantastic base setup🙏

Yes I am on a controller (DS5)

I did a few laps again on TC1, being careful of not pushing to soon exiting the corners and it felt good. Not sure if I am losing time this way but I did not feel like the car was struggling to keep traction.

As for the times, it is more a matter of chaining 3 good sectors, not having one or two good and a bad or medium. Optimal lap time is a few 10th below my current best lap (1:30.614)

I saved the replay of the "best" lap of those few test laps : https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gt7...29-0544c2eb434d/gallery/All/23644024131324745

Not sure how you can watch it, I do see that it is a replay but no play button 🤔

Probably can't watch it till I'm back on my PS5. I'll have a look.

In the meantime: It can be tough to see, but on exit look for the TC light to be flashing (or the throttle bar to flash part red). If it only flashes a couple times or the bar only shows half to quarter red very briefly you're about as quick as it'll let you be. If it is flashing for a long time or not at all you're losing time.

mmmm that is a serious time you've got there Dan! that is a real good job!

I had 30 minutes to spare before work this morning and tried the W1ggly tune, i had some trouble to adept to the more nervous handling and short gearing, but managed to level around my old PB, drove 28.280 after 30 minutes, so that is hopefull for this tune, but i'm curious wich gears you are in?, can you enlight me in your alien corner gearing? ..

@W1gglyStyl3 and @sdi_03

Thanks alot guys for those time consuming tunes you provide to help us on the way!

and @Dan_Tes .... if i forget the kitchen??.......,then i'm ****ed, she kills me ;)

I was going to ask Dan_Tes similar things...

I was having a 30.5X with Praiano (the old setup, not sure how different it is from the one he just posted), and gave it a try to @W1gglyStyl3
I found they have same similarities in terms of drivability with W1gglyStyl3 a bit more nervous in the tail, but in some sort of predictability, handy for me.
I did not improbe my ideal that much (maybe couple of 1/100s in sector 2), but was more consisted in putting the lap togheter, and I'm not at 30.1

I still have to learn a bit both the track (T5, corkscrew, T9 mostly) and the way to use this setup more in general.

@Gomario JSP : you say short gearing. Does it mean that you need to change gears more than wanted? I have the opposite feeling: I'm mostly in 2nd, 3rd. Using 1st just for the last turn and 4th just for main straight (and maybe in my way up to the corkscrew). I'm wondering if it make sense to shorten a bit the gearing to have a bit more spark, just a bit, if it's too much maybe the tail happy becomes less predictable, but then saw your post. Are we driving the same car?!? I don't think that your faster time alone is an explanation of these different feelings. Or maybe it is, 2sec are quite an ocean.

@Dan_Tes : it would be great if you can share your lap or the gears you use in the different turns

I think it's time for me to stick to this setup, otherwise I'll dissipate time to adapt instead of improve.

The gearing works well when you get in a groove! The nervousness might not be helpful on a pad though, it works on a wheel because I can do such tiny steering inputs in speed, it allllll makes sense on a wheel but thinking about it now I can see how it would be a nightmare on a pad! But you still got a good time with it, proving YOU are the alien!

I think I need to start uploading laps on youtube, how do people do it? Just through the share gameplay button on playstation or some clever computer software/editing etc? I'd just want to do a basic upload with basic editing if anything.. I am not computer literate!

Anyways, before that happens... Shifting just after the 'recommended' gear number box ends at the top, just before the 'Gran Turismo' redline begins.

Turn One - 6th Gear
Turn Two - 2nd Gear for rotation, into 3rd most of the way through the hairpin and usually out in 4th
Turn Three - 3rd gear and again shift into 4th at apex.
Turn Four - I've been shifting up to 5th, then back to 4th, then up to 5th at apex. I don't know why, I'd never do it in a real car but it's giving me more consistent turn in! Staying in 5th I just seem to run wide. Maybe it's placebo, maybe it's weird GT7 physics...
Turn Five - Down to 3rd for rotation, again upshifting to 4th for traction on exit.
Turn Six - Again, Down to 4th for turn in and then upshift to 5th mid turn for traction.
Turn Seven/Eight/EightA/Corkscrew - 3rd into 2nd as the car reaches the corkscrew, W1ggly's tune tends to want to turn in really quickly so it can be a bit lively through here. Up into 4th for exit and get on the power early.
Turn Nine - I don't know, I just try and survive by this point :D. Generally in 4th with throttle control, occasionally shifting to 3rd to try and get the car turned, up into 4th or 5th on exit depending on how I'm feeling.
Turn Ten - Again down into 3rd sometimes for rotation then 4th on exit, even 5th.
Turn Eleven - Down to 2nd for rotation, then after apex into 3rd and gently on the throttle to avoid binning a good lap :)

I'm not far off the gears that sdi_03 was using for his lap that he posted, just sometimes in 4th instead of 5th or 5th instead of 6th!

EDIT: I've been watching a youtube tutorial! I think I can do it, I'm out this morning but I'll do it when I get home. Is there an easy way of editing in your tunes etc or is better to just record gameplay from the playstation going in to the car settings 'live' after watching the replay?

Ok, it's not the same gear ratio. What did I configure? I'm not even able to copy! :banghead:

I'm no expert but you can do as you have written, or use simple web tools to do the job. I used flixier.com , but someone else can for sure give you better hints.

It rev's alot quicker due to the shorter gearbox so i have to reinvent my gearing thru corners, my first tune had quite longer gears so exit in third was quite stable and most of the time enough, but now exit in 4th is quite grippy,
I think you can have very different driving styles with this exact setup, it even let's it thrown into corners, you van always shorten it ofcourse, i have the intent to lengthen it a bit, funny how those feelings are so different, i'm on DS4, maby there lies a difference?.

Sticking to this and improve sound like a good plan, i think i'll do the same :)

Yes, indeed, i find it quite tricky on the pad, but not complaining , i'm far of alien territory, you are sooo much faster then me, alien credits all yours :lol:

Thanks for the info Dan, appriciate it!
i'm hoping to get in to the 27's with this tune, i'll try to find some time!
Loving the combo, that helps alot :)

No, after seeing Dan_Tes lap I definetly did something wrong with gears configuration. I cannot check right now, but it's most probably the reason.

I'm quite sure that after adjusting them I will be still 2s away, but with the right gear

But be aware, this @Dan_Tes dude is fast  if 27.8 is the new standard... we all suck :lol:
I'm positive that you will lower your time!, i'm not getting it as a present also, just takes miles and frustration, if you look at Dan's lap you think, aah, i'll replicate that when i get home, ......... guess again... haha

Good luck, you can do it

A small 15 laps for lunch break, tried TCS 0 just in case, did not finish the lap, too snapy! wnet back to TCS 1 which I find much more manageable.

Not very good laps, some big bottles, but overall the optimal lap time continues to go down. Just wish I'd be able to "nail" a corner and not immediatly butcher the next one, and if possible not alternate the list of butchered corners from lap to lap, at least if it was the same corners, I'd know which to work on.
