Have you tried to change the format to number ? (with the appropriate decimals)
formatting them doesn't change anything as Excel views them as text and not numbers - same way if you typed your name and tried to change the formatting to % or date, nothing will happen

I’ve never got into the tuning side of GT so I was convinced this would be the end of my recent run of golds, but maybe not! Initially I was using a tweaked version of the Praiano tune and that was infinitely more stable than stock, but managing a 1:29.1 felt like a bit of a miracle and I couldn’t get anywhere near it in the next couple of sessions.

I figured that time wouldn’t stick for gold, and sure enough it hasn't. Since I was hitting a brick wall with the old tune I thought I’d try @sdi_03’s instead. Immediately it felt a lot better, I think mainly because I didn’t really have the gearing locked in for Laguna previously. Despite being a bit more of a handful I managed to drop to a 28.5 within 10 or so laps – back in the gold and just outside the top 1500 for the time being. Not even close to lots of you guys I know, but that’s much better than I’ve managed in previous TTs.

It didn’t even feel like a particularly special lap for the 28.5, so maybe there’s a few more tenths to be found yet. A top 1000 finish would be at least 3x better than I’ve ever managed before. I’m not deluding myself that’s all down to skill though – anyone that hasn’t grabbed one of the tunes on here has a massive disadvantage.

For anyone that’s put off by the thought of putting in a lot and time and getting nowhere, I was in the same camp, but the laps that feel pointless really aren’t – that’s where you get better, and it all carries over to the next one.

Sure you might be able to get more credits elsewhere, but I don’t see the appeal in that. I’ve already got tons of nice cars I’ve barely driven, getting faster seems much more interesting…

You might be able to use =VALUE(), where you point to the text. So create a duplicate table with no content other than column and row headers, then point in top left cell to top left cell of pasted (text) with the VALUE function and copy across and down.

I really don't care how the gap is slowly being eaten away.

I'm not really a conspiracy theorist but it's almost like PD looks at how much Cr they are going to have to pay out on the TT and then decide to give some "magic sauce" to the leaders to improve their times!

Looks like I'll have to try @sdi_03 version 3.0 tune later....

My car also has race suspension on it and wider tires than stock but yeah the 450 kg lighter is a no go for a street car. My point is that even with the race suspension and increased rigirity on the chassis still you have way to much flex in the GT car model. Just try the same lap with the GT4 or GT3 Mustang and see how much less flex is there.
Increased rigidity/roll cage, suspension, and the gutting/weight loss essentially makes it a GT4 car, but somehow in the game they are entirely different.
*when I copied and pasted the table above into excel (matched destination formatting so its plain), the numbers were stored as text and not numbers. Tried text to columns and in the past when this has occurred previously (I pasted car prices table from a GTP thread once) nothing I looked up worked for converting them to numbers. Here, since it was a small table I just typed them out and pasted over the original text string, but obviously that wouldn't work with a large sample size. Any ideas?
I've come across this a lot as well. Haven't found a solution yet, but did find that by just double clicking into the cell (After number formatting) and hitting enter it would fix it back to a number format. Still have to do it cell by cell though.

Yes, I fully agree, it takes time and dedication.
I am exactly at the point where I don't want to trade effort with frustration. In other words, if I know i can spend so little on gt7, i mix tt and others when I see frustration jumping in, exactly because I do not want to associate frustration with pleasure of edriving.
When I started doing the TT's I only looked at it as time vs value. So I would do a quick run and whatever I got I got as spending more time would be better rewarded with grinding or finishing other races. But once I started looking at the rankings my competitive nature took over. From the data, it's not difficult to tell when that was. Lol
Thanks again to Half_Sourly for the data

I've had this way of thinking at start, but as I am not that good, the quick and "easy" money is really limited to bronze price, and with some effort too (especially in this case where I had to buy and tune the car).

Then it shifted to a motivation to get better, and get a deeper knowledge of one track (and car).

For this reason i think it will be much better for the Gold time as well Silver and Bronze to be fixed since the start as the circuit experience ones, the aliens can compete with themselves while not stealing our hard earned gold.

I find it funny to be frank, a bit o pressure to push you to do better, to not rest thinking all is done and dusted.

People sometimes wonders how much effort other people put into Time Trials. I had 1:28:0* for the weekend and optimal 1:27:7* and thought to try to join 1:27 club. I think i drove approximate 500 km yesterday, Monday, without improving time. I am pretty much tired after work on Mondays so I wasn't really expecting to beat my PB. Today I drove 238 km and lowered time to 1:27:9**
Btw , wifey is getting silver and she decorated car with her painting of Lewis Hamilton which you can see here. Here is my lap if someone is interested.

As I bought the Mustang for this TT, I know I put ~638km in total since the start of the event.

I think it reflects on my times 😅

But I'll never be motivated enough (or frustation resisting) to do more than 12-15 laps per session, and I rarely do more than one session per day.

Moreover when most of the time my best lap is the number one and all goes south after that 🤣

So alt was 1.28.940 and showing as +3.00% but obviously silver. Got it down to 1.28.908 and back into gold.
So even though alt and main are The Kie 25's tunes - there is a bhp difference between them for some reason.
About to experiment with other tunes now on the main which is still sitting at 1.28.989 - wish me luck.

One of the car needs oil change, oil deteriorates with time and power goes down.

Well even if I was tired yesterday and felt there would not be any better times, I enjoyed driving this TT. Some skilled people like @sdi_03 and @half_sourly made good tunes for my driving style so I really enjoy the car now. 😊

So I huffed and I puffed and I…. Very slightly beat my best time! My goal is the magical (to me) inside 1 second of the WR… I am now 0.006 seconds off that goal. I MUST PREVAIL! Was really getting into a rhythm at the end though so I KNOW I can go quicker, but it will have to be the perfect lap for me. I feel like time may not be on my side. Frustrating but then to be in the top 100 right now is huge so I cannot complain at all.

I just always want to go faster 🤓

Man, I think I've tried it all lol. The value function just gives me #VALUE error. Trying to add +0 or *1 gives #VALUE error. Copying - paste special value & addition gives a blank. Text to column still returns text string. Puzzling!

Unfortunately not - I change my oil as soon as I see it as normal in the garage.
But - on my main 128.602 - @sdi_03 v3 tune - what a tune - wow. Currently ranked 1,933- only did 9 or 10 laps and the fastest lap had only 1 green sector.
Speaking of oil changes -both cars had normal oil quality after posting my times tonight - both have had oil changes done. Edit - does this time trial seem to deteriorate the oil at a faster pace than "normal"

1,933 - that has piqued my interest - really curious to see if I can get even higher tomorrow.

Just checking in at some silly time in the morning - glad to see so many of you doing well and improving so much. My daughter arrived 4 weeks early on Sunday morning so I'm just hoping my time stays gold haha.

No idea when I'll have chance to play/make a guide now so just want to say thanks to anyone who watched, liked or gave me feedback I've really enjoyed doing them.

Congrats x 100!!!!! GT Sport came out a few weeks before my daughter came and you can find time but you want to sleep lol.

I am using @sdi_03's first tune, and I've tested a few, it is the one that I feel the more at ease with and with which I achieve my best lap times.

Clearly tunes made the experience a lot better.

It's mostly my driving that makes it frustrating and shortens my sessions 😅

[Edit] Done my 12 laps session, no improvement, one lap 0.2s upper than my record.
I am able (sometimes) to scratch some 10th (even half a second) in the first 4 corners, but generally lose that on turn 5 and 6, most of the time I lose at least 0.3 in the corkscrew, and I am totally able to lose 0.5s in the last turn. I could do 1.5s better lap time if I was able just once to string a clean lap (which would put me in a very low gold).

The GT4 car is higher weight than the GT's in this TT. I think the GT4 was 1400 kg and it's less power and on Slicks. But yeah my point is the chassis is different in the two cars mostly bushings. So Increased Rigidity is not taking care of the rubber bushings. Making the car flex on corners. This is a problem I have with all Simulators that have the Mustang there is nothing you can do for that flex. So if you have something done to the bushings your car will be off compared to the virtual model. The reason sdi_03 tune works so well is because he is the only tune that uses stiff front spring with soft rear springs but also have it with a bit harder dumping and rear roll bar. Which make the car working great and the rear not flexing that much.
