Man, I think I've tried it all lol. The value function just gives me #VALUE error. Trying to add +0 or *1 gives #VALUE error. Copying - paste special value & addition gives a blank. Text to column still returns text string. Puzzling!
I've found a way. It is long-winded, but if you have a big dataset will be worth it. I think the issue is that the source data has hidden special characters - save as .txt and open in excel and you'll see what I mean.

To solve it:
  • Select the data from skidmark's table
  • paste into Word (I know, but the word to excel thing has worked for me in the past on other problems, so thought I'd try it)
  • In Word it will be a table. Select the table and convert to text (via Layout ribbon button)
  • Select the data in Word and paste into Notepad (don't save as .txt from Word as some ? characters remain)
  • Save the Notepad file as .txt with UTF-8 (the default; others might work but I didn't test)
  • Open in excel with default settings (delimited; MS-DOS (PC-8) on mine).

People sometimes wonders how much effort other people put into Time Trials. I had 1:28:0* for the weekend and optimal 1:27:7* and thought to try to join 1:27 club. I think i drove approximate 500 km yesterday, Monday, without improving time. I am pretty much tired after work on Mondays so I wasn't really expecting to beat my PB. Today I drove 238 km and lowered time to 1:27:9**
Btw , wifey is getting silver and she decorated car with her painting of Lewis Hamilton which you can see here. Here is my lap if someone is interested.

That's a solid lap you got there, great job!, and silver for the wifey, nice!
( Art looks good btw, had a peak on the site, ;) )

@Dan_Tes

Ooh come oonnn!!...... you just can't stop can you??
i'm racing my b*lls off and you are .5 seconds faster....., nice job Alien, next one i'll get you.. .....
( prob not, but a dude can dream right lol ), seriously great job Dan, you are one fast dude

Just checking in at some silly time in the morning - glad to see so many of you doing well and improving so much. My daughter arrived 4 weeks early on Sunday morning so I'm just hoping my time stays gold haha.

No idea when I'll have chance to play/make a guide now so just want to say thanks to anyone who watched, liked or gave me feedback I've really enjoyed doing them.
Amazing! Congrats! Hope she's alright - early is always risky but always nice when there's no complications! Ours was 2 weeks late, and that same with it's own complications!

Back on thread topic... I logged on last night to have a last stab at it, after @sdi_03 updating me on the gearbox configuration. Managed to match all the ratios and speeds by using the technique you mentioned, thanks! So then I jumped into the event and tried to drive. And I was clearly having a bad day at it! After 15km I hadn't even set a lap time, retrying after making stupid mistake after stupid mistake. I eventually started posting lap times and managed to come within 0.04X of my previous best time, but was still over 0.6s from gold, so just abandoned my attempt. It was late and my head wasn't in it. So I settled for another silver. I actually enjoyed this tuning event though. It was much better than the Nordschliefe event which was just too daunting a task to invest time into!

So, what have we got next??

Ok, I see what you mean. To be clear, after saving notepad as .txt, open the .txt in excel? Not pasting the table from the .txt to excel?

I set previous PB on Sunday morning 1:28.981, couldn’t get within 0.2 on Monday morning, slept normal amount yesterday and didn’t get any driving in only to find out the time improved and gold time now 1:28.910.

I had time to play last night, but… I have a medical marijuana card and have been a daily toker for last 18-years and while I’m still fine playing, no way my reaction time is consistent enough to improve my times lol

So my dog woke me up at 4, which normally would piss me off! But I knew instantly I was gonna jump on because damnit, I want GOLD!

Wasn’t looking good at all for literally 1.5-hours. At that time I was still 0.35 off my PB and optimal wasn’t much better. But then I started getting into a groove and started hitting T6 just about perfect and times started falling.

Let’s just say I juuuuuuust made it! 1:28.910!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It changed and I am now 3 thousandths outside of 3%.

I tried for like an hour other night to improve this and I failed. Seems my lap times are getting worse with more tries. Can't even get into the 1:28s currently. My current laps are .3s slower than my best so I'm in trouble...

Does PD incentivize the top aliens here to keep on raising their times or are these people just a-holes and like us to suffer? :D

I don't care about sub 1:28 anymore, all I care is that I got gold and got to try the car with a proper setup, to see if it changed my mind about the car.

It didn't.

I did the same thing as soon as I got my 28.2… Sold this horrible car 😈

Let’s hope the next one is better and makes the most of the new physics changes.

Ok, this is insanity!!! Mr.GokiJetAm is out to shatter dreams today and keeps being pushed by 'ol Sirva and S.Ito improving the top time for at least the 3rd time since last night.

Mr.GokiJetAm - Today 669.15-km's (416-miles)!!!

New Gold: 1:28.817 :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

It took me all morning to improve my time from 1:28.981 to 1:28.910 (only 0.071 improvement) and now I gotta find time to drop it another 0.093-seconds!?! LOL how can 0.164-seconds seem like the tallest mountain!

Dropping like a stone. I am still in gold, but barely. Don't really want to do this one anymore as I haven't done it since day 1 and would have to learn it over again. Might risk it

 my silver time is only 0.016 away to become bronze, after all my efforts, it would be really discouraging...

It is nearly 3 AM in Japan, it is time to go to bed Ito San, please. You will be tired at work tomorrow 😵‍💫

[Edit] Nevermind, I forgot that I've improved it from 1:30.580 to 1:30:287 yesterday. Might hold until tomorrow morning 🤞
