After round 1 ;)

Somehow I stayed inside the top 200 for the Mustang TT, amazingly only falling 2 spots before it ended. I doubt I'll ever finish that high again. It was fun while it lasted, even though there was frustration knowing I could have done better.

As for the new TT...I always use chase cam when driving (yeah, I'm weird like I've said earlier in the thread :P). Only I can't see ANYTHING with the camera behind this behemoth! So bumper cam it is. I'm impressed by how smooth the driving is watching the videos (looking at you, @Blayney). It's not quite as easy using X as the gas, since it's mostly on/off and very difficult to apply the right amount of pressure to achieve partial throttle. I had an optimal time of 1:27.059. Time will tell if a sub 27 is possible for me. You guys in the mid to low 1:26's is insane.

Put in a few laps to try this and the new FFB. 1:28.053 on the 6th lap. Went back to try for a bit more because I hadn’t even hit my daily marathon yet. Kept overdriving it with no improvement though.
Side note: this thing is actually kind of fun to throw around.
4 wheel drift over a curb just like my school bus driver years ago. Lol

Are you able to very rapidly tap the throttle, kind of like feathering it. Just on/off/on/off mid corner. Won't be quite as smooth but I was sometimes doing it on the trigger for throttle and it was working.

Well I hope this time I will earn the gold and if I do it will be my first. This car should be better to handle compared to the other hatchback/van types. I will start working on it this weekend asap. I will be recording my laps and posting them, and guys make sure you ghost your best laps so I can see what you all did. I am saving up to get a Fanatec wheel.

Or should I just keep using the dualshock controller, we are on a fixed income and can't really afford anymore expensive technology. I am not messing with beating the alien times anymore, maybe silver at least?

Controller is more than capable of top times, my lap was set on dual sense - 1:26.685 as mentioned.

For those having trouble with getting the elephant 🐘 😅 around here's my secret sauce: first I use a wheel and pedals* second, download Alien Stig's (the fastest time) replay and lastly, follow his line and pretend that kid in the back window just throw his ice cream at your shiny new van!

Of course this method is best on time trials with no tuning. Glitching the transmission always throws driving skills out the window. IMnHO.

*Gold can be had with a Controller. My son (marksMENunit420) ran a 1:28.780 in the Mystery Machine.

Blasting this thing around Autopolis drifting it around the corners makes me feel like I'm hurriedly driving Julia Roberts to the airport at the end of a 90s rom-com.

ordering a vintage chauffeur outfit and driving gloves to enter the correct MindSpace

What levels of Force Feedback Strength and Force Feedback Sensitivity are you guys using? Do you change from car to car? 🤔

I actually have been since the update. The difference between road cars and race cars on the same setting is throwing me off! 5/5 in the Logitech g29 but I have gone up and down in every car since the update

I'm not sure I would describe this as "easy" like so many others say here. Yes, I got to gold and was 2.4 something % last night but this morning it is already 2.55%.

How much lower do you think the leader will go? Might my 1:28.385 not survive?

As for those getting 1:26.x times, how do you do it? I feel like I am driving the wheels off this and I don't see how to get an extra 2 seconds. I know that turn 6 (first hairpin) is my nemesis where much time can be gained or lost. I seem to lose it and when I gain it I'm not sure how I did it. How'd you take that corner to get good speed coming out? That is key for the rest of the track....

Early braking before T1, accelerate before you hit the apex. Take some risk through the second right hander. You can go faster through there than you think and still catch the car. Then brake early, very tight through the double left, controlling speed and direction with the throttle (not much of it, and lifting gets the rear turned). Wide entry into the hairpin, but keeping it tight to the inside curbs. Full throttle only when you've straightened out the car. In the long left hander, wide entry, head to the inside (left), get off the throttle early and coast, maybe with a bit of throttle until the marshal box is in the middle of the screen, then hit the throttle again. Take the final right hairpin tightly, but on acceleration you should be off the curbs, that gives you more exit speed.

Hope that helps a bit.

This one will for sure finish well in the high 1:25's. I wouldn't feel safe at all with anything less than 1:28.2**. And even that might be tight depending on which aliens put 1000 kms into it. But unless there is some reading rainbow magic school bus line I'm missing anything in the 1:28.1's SHOULD be guaranteed gold.

*No guarantees expressed or implied. I reserve the right to claim I was just flat out wrong.

With your time, the best would have to turn below 1,25,791 for it to come out.

So for me you are quiet ;)
