That is crazy fast! But shocked? Checks signature “GT Academy 2015 Finalist” hahaha that’s cool! What was it like?

What? The lap? It came out of nowhere 😆ahah thank you mate. But to be honest I never thought I would make it to the finish line. I was like this before the last corner “oh fu@&€ here we go again, the UNDERSTEER 😩”.

Well the Academy was an amazing experience. I will remember that for the rest of my life. It was almost 10 years ago and it feels like it was yesterday! 🙂

Taking a cue from this TT and the comments I read about tires temperature, I wonder if cleaning the tires also has an effect.

Let me explain: on the last corner the ideal trajectory is one that practically puts four wheels on the dirt. Given the next straight and the fact that we're driving a death chest, it's certainly more efficient than putting four wheels on the asphalt.

But speaking in general: what happens to the tires when you put two wheels on the grass? And when you take a detour in the fields by mistake?

I don't feel I have the sensitivity to figure that out myself, but if I had to say, I would say that effect, if there is one, wears off pretty quickly

There's no need to cut any grass or dirt to gain maximum speed on the main straight. Just take a slightly wider entry to the last corner and floor it before the apex.

In TTs dirty tires seem to have little to no effect on traction. The cars seem to be in optimal driving condition at all times.

One general tip: Use the Alphard's weight to your advantage. You can feel the weight transfer from side to side when cornering. More weight = more traction.

Slowly creeping up the leaderboard 👀

For anyone who doesn't want to chase an alien, here's my replay (assuming I got it to upload correctly since it was in an endless loop not doing so my first attempt).

My ideal was a 1:26.613. I may be regretting adding many of you to my friends list, because it has made me drop like a rock down my friends leaderboard. I do get a kick out of some of your liveries, though. Among those are flames, Jurassic Park, the Scooby Doo van, and a tri of delivery vans decked out in USPS, UPS, and DHL colors. I stuck with my black rental. :D

Lol same on the friends board! Although no one I know plays this game, so it was empty before.

I wasn’t going to do the TT this morning but ‘ol @Dan_Tes decided he couldn’t resist jumping up the boards 😂. The Pullman brown Teamsters UPS van wasn’t cutting it, so I figured I would go with a livery to emphasize running from the law! Finished the lap is 10-seconds it’s the greatest van ever known. People are saying it’s the fastest van they’ve ever seen and with such a good looking driver. The bestest.

Got within 0.05 of PB and within 0.1 4 times, but no improvement

Thanks for the advice. I saw your line there and I like it, but cannot reproduce yet:
it's like I stay too much in the inside and loose momentum when I approach the left side of the turn, or I open earlier feeling the car in my hands but cannot avoid having two wheels on the grass.
What you do is in the middle of these two scenarios (plus more speed plus more car control obviously given the different skills).

Still time to work on it

I got my time down to a 1:27.9 after around 25 laps. I was really pleased with that until I saw some of the times in this thread.
I'm with you at that 1:27.9 time. I'm not sure if I can figure out how to go quicker and a lot of times here are unreal. I needed to stop looking at this thread as it just reinforces my own sense of inadequacy when it comes to GT7.:dunce:

Still, we have to remind ourselves that our times were still top 2.x% of the world. As my son reminds me, you're still a good driver dad. Thanks son! Sometimes we all need the reminder. :)

EDIT: I just reminded myself that it is not top 3% of drivers but within 3% of top time... Damn, I felt better for just a little bit. Now back to being "adequate".... :D

One key I noted in @djolliea's lap video was his smoothness, especially through the final corner. It took me some time to learn how to get through there without getting sideways when dropping into 2nd gear. Don't give it full lock (or don't jam the stick all the way to the right if using the DS4 like I am), and you can avoid the oversteer. While it may go against your instincts, you'll get a much better launch at corner exit, and those hundredths of seconds really add up.

I actually got in a little too hot and slid slightly on my best lap. I'm sure I lost at least a couple hundredths. That, along with getting a bit slideways in turn 3 and a poorer hairpin than I'd prefer lost me 2 tenths overall.

I found this TT so easy, maybe the easiest of all, that I don't understand why there are so many players who don't get gold. My initial tests were with spoilers, I changed rim diameters etc and I easily reached 27,000. Not convinced, yesterday I did a test with the normal Alphard and in three laps I reached 1.26,800.

This is a BOP event with no tuning, therefore adding body parts has no effect. They become purely cosmetic.

I slapped them bigges rims on it and it feel exaclty the same as the standard Alphard, like Half_sourly says, pure cosmetic
it's just that placebo, but then again...

We all know by now that a great livery is faster

OK thanks. As for the last TT, which I even thought was the most difficult of all, at first I got the gold, but it was changed in hundredths and I ended up in silver for not being able to pass my shadow, I came to think that the spoilers made a difference. They don't deceive me anymore, I start renting cars.
