Given all the updates provided, I thought I'd share mine too.

Decent time at RBR so will leave it at that unless I somehow gold Deep Forest, in which case I'll come back to it; great combination.

Okay for gold at Fuji but would like to spend more time on it; it is a track that I need to get to know better.

Deep Forest would be gold but for the odd decision to make it harder to get gold by reducing the gap to number 1 from 3% to 1.5% for the one TT where the world's best will give their absolute best in a once every blue moon event, while at the same time changing bronze from 10% to 20%. I'll keep pushing but need around 0.4 seconds to feel safe. It will be tough.

It sucks b/c the lower skilled will never be able to get gold and that's the truth, I know it won't happen to me. I'm at 1'19.117 and I have three seconds still to improve on, so I'm chipping away!

I'm not in the upper skill camp but I agree usually I can usually get in or around the 3% but 1.5% is just not gonna happen. I thought PD was giving away money but they know what they are doing and we all take the bait and quickly realised we were never in the running for these things in the first place

Hi,

I, for one, am a big big fan of the "invalidated" lap - as opposed to a time penalty! This means I can continue with a lap and not ruin the following lap. I would love to see this implemented permanently. Just for the Time Trials obviously. Its a much better system IMHO.

Best regards to all here.

Ian.
I wish this could be a thing but I do think it would get taken advantage of; I am sure if it was implemented there would be multiple tracks where a record lap could be 'set-up' by abusing track limits on the previous 'invalidated' lap. I think being more sensible about where the penalty zone is would be the best compromise, I hate tracks where getting a penalty can actually ruin three consecutive laps (losing the lap the penalty was awarded on, serving the penalty on the next lap with the penalty zone being close enough to the start/finish to effect the line crossing speed for the following lap). Dragon Trail Gardens was as good a course as any for this, the zone didn't affect the start/finish line in any way and it was very unlikely to pick up a penalty after the zone that could affect the following lap (I occasionally picked up a penalty in the quad-apex turn that would roll onto the next lap but that was only very very occasionally).

On this particular combo going wide at the last hairpin invalidates both laps to stop that exact thing
This option was a thing in GT Sport in TT mode and I'm pretty sure on most tracks it worked fine (going off the WRS TTs I did)

I like the Alfa on RBR. Feels like you can slide it around a bit without losing control or speed, which makes for a fun drive.

Don't love driving on Fuji with so many off camber corners, but when you hook it up it's nice. Tried a few different cars: new Merc, Audi, lambo, Ferrari, Porsche. Actually liked the lambo the best.

Above are the best times for each car on Fuji so far, and a plot showing the median times (with times more than 10 seconds off pace removed) in case anyone is interested in BOP or trying to get the best time per car.

That's all it takes, track limits on the last turn (Or 2 in the case of ones with a double apex) and this system is so much better. The ones as Dan mentioned where it ruins 3 laps are brutal and always just end up a restart. The van one was also good like that as you could still cut a good lap right after serving a penalty.
But this system is so much harder on you as it doesn't just destroy your time and push you to retry. It lets you finish your PB lap and just says "See what you missed out on by going 1 pixel outside of an inconsistent track limit even though the ghost you were following went completely off track?"...........on second thought, maybe it still needs some refinement. Haha.
Yesterday in the olympic trial I had a lap cancelled on the exit of the first turn when my outside tires were on the white line, meanwhile the ghost I was following put all four tires over it. At least 1.5 metres further over it than I was. Then my very next lap I put half the car over it and was fine.

Given all the updates provided, I thought I'd share mine too.

Decent time at RBR so will leave it at that unless I somehow gold Deep Forest, in which case I'll come back to it; great combination.

@half_sourly, your workload is going to increase massively now we have treble the TTs. Do you need a hand and if so how can we help? The info you publish is gold and hope it carries on.

Yeah Fuji is tricky, the last three consecutive corners always kills my time. Because when I brake I have trouble turning while risking running off track. I know what I'm up against, I have not tried it yet. I have a week and a half left so I need to think and pick my ride for this challenge.

I agree with the 1,5% being too silly. Or, they could have upped the payment for gold to like 6M to account for the higher difficulty. You have to be seriously good to get gold in that TT.

Well I'm not attempting the gold there, but I am gonna go for the silver. 2M is better than nothing. I am not that far from it, 1'19.117. The part before the first tunnel always messes me up, my lap gets void/invalidated. I go too fast which affects my braking and turning.

Love the RBR Alfa combo. Too bad the days have been shortened, would love to spend more time with it.

To those complaining about the tires, please provide proof that the grip levels are wrong. Data please, not your feelings. Seems we have to hear this every time there's a road car. People that don't like or can't handle some slip. Car drives wonderfully and hooks up well IMO.

After a quick 15-20 min in the Alfa RBR combo managed to hook up one decent lap, 1.40.104. Should be enough for gold, but I'll keep an eye and maybe go again once more to ensure I get the gold.

They've fixed how this Alfa Giulia GTAm handles, pre 1.31 this car felt like a deathtrap due to the oversteer. I had to use assists to keep it on track but now it can be driven without assists just fine.

Well I don't actually remember ever letting on my age on this forum, but I am older than you, young man! 😇

I'm not sure if you're referring to me as "an Alien" (probably not and I misunderstood!), but you'll see from my times etc. that I am far, far away from being even close to Alien! 🤣
I ment @sdi_03 if you look at his Deep Forrest time 😁 🤣, trust me, he is NOT one of us 🤣🤣🙏🙏

Thanks for the offer but I should be fine. Going forward it is likely to be two at a time with one ending each Thursday, so should be fine.

Knocked some more time off Olympic event, down to a 16.3. Under 2% but obviously that's not going to cut it.

This car is just so inconstant for me. On braking it's T1 and the last, sharp left. I am braking at the same point but sometimes it goes deep and sometimes it's too soon. On acceleration, out of T1 and the 90* left onto the back straight, sometimes the car wants to go and other times it just wants to spin. I just don't trust this car at all.

Not sure how much more time I'll invest. .400" more will take a bit of effort.

I genuinely don't feel this was designed for people outside of the PD universe. Hence the double silver prise.

And arguably obtainable Fuji and Alfa.

I'm cynical though so could be massively wrong.

Exactly that. I did another 100 miles today and shed a few milliseconds, down to 1:16.297, and kept thinking into turn one, I'm driving 'scared', because I just don't know what it will do.

I've had to take many deep breaths before resetting and had to switch the fan on to try and drive away the red mist.

I think they just upped their game for the gold time because this is a more serious event. Which explains the 2 million for silver and why they still leave it at 5%.

However, from 3% to 1.5% gold, it's a massive difference. You probably could gather close to 6-7k players out of the usual 150k that could gold it.
With 1.5%? Not even 1k will get gold. As it stands, only like 500 people have gold.

So the prize instead of 4 million, should've been more like 6 million or something because the amount of effort needed to get within 1.5% of the world's best players is insane. I alone covered 750km yesterday to just barely get gold and yet today my time is not enough for gold anymore. And getting just 1 tenth off that time will likely need another 500km or more to shave. We're talking about endurance race levels of distance covered.

For reference, in all the TTs since the NSX at Nurburgring (the hardest so far) I only needed double digit kms (less than 100, but most are actually less than 50) to get gold on all of them, even in the new TTs with the Alfa in RBR and Gr.3 at Fuji.

It's possible my friend, but yeah, we have to put in the effort.
Any advice? I'm currently at 1:16.4 (with 1:16.25 optimal), and I'll probably have to go at least half a second faster. I'm not even sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm currently using BB+3 and weak ABS because that feels the best for me.

edit: I'll upload a video later tonight.

For my comeback I did the 3 current TTs, VERY easy bronze on the olympic one at Deep Forest with the Toyota (1:20 for now), VERY easy bronze with the Giulia at RBR (1:44), and VERY easy bronze at Fuji (don't remember best lap time).

All by doing very crappy laps with cars I barely or do not know and tracks I've did not praticed recently and a few laps (most was 6 laps at DF to learn the limits and begin to find breaking points)

Silver is at reach for each TT I think.

First decent session today, I’m back! Feels good, I’m still not enjoying the Alfa/RBR combo; those tyres are a joke but I can see why people enjoy it. I’ve set a decent time now but will probably focus on the Olympic trial and maybe dip back in again every now and again. I love the track and the car but on those ridiculous tyres it just doesn’t do either justice.

As for the Olympic trial.. wow, I did about 12 laps and I LOVE it! Not a track I know well but lots of fun with a bit of everything and with a quick but challenging car and a real competitive edge… Everything I love, more please PD 😍

As for the option C, Fuji and Gr3 is a bit boring and as it has the longest left to run I’ve not started it for now. I might have a session just to gauge how difficult gold will be but with the familiarity most have with both the track and cars I can’t imagine placing highly being easy so maybe just Gold as a target for that TT.

Current goals, Alfa/RBR - Top 1000, Olympic - Gold, Fuji - Gold. Looking forward to doing more.

I have such a hard time on Fuji, it is soooooo not my track, doesn't flow for me, that last sector is a real real pain in the ass, that chicane is just so nasty, I grabed the RSR for this and the thing just doesnt wanna drive slow 🤣 first gear is just so sensitivity

Scraped a bit of my time sitting on a 1:41.195 but that took me like 400 km today ..... 🤣🤨

Managed to put a few laps down in the Olympic esports forest: 1:16.3 and I’m pretty happy with that.

The gold (1:16.0) should be doable. Gonna put some more time in this week and I’ll post here if it worked out lol.

RBR one was fairly easy, once I figured you can absolutely blast over the curbs I put a 1:40.0 down and left it at that to focus on the forest TT.
Haven’t really started yet on the Fuji one. Did 2-3 laps and got some flunky silver time but far off from gold.

Another 300km added to the Olympcs, and a 1:15.9 is done. In fact, from what I've seen of my laptimes after this, I can probably even reach for a low 1:15.8xx. But for now I'm very happy with this. Here are my times (the RBR and Fuji were done in like 4-5 laps each, likely won't bother with them anymore):

I wouldn't want to imagine how extremely difficult something like the X2019 at Road Atlanta or the NSX-R at Nurburgring would be if they had a 1.5% requirement for gold.
