'In Search Of Olympic Gold!' :scared: (DS4, TC 1)

View attachment 1252018
That is quite fast already, I'm at 1:17.0 after 2 sessions, with a few invalidated 16 highs, getting more consistent but trouble with the tracklimit of 5 to 6, right apex after the tunnel is fine but the blind over the crest one on the left kills my lap so many times 🤣

Great job!

I'm back at home after a few days away. I've always been hoping for more than one TT at a time but now we have it... I feel like it's too much to take on! I have tried a few laps of RBR in the Alfa, man again so close to a decent combo but Sports Hard tyres absolutely ruin it. The handling is so unrealistic, why couldn't it have been like the Race A a few weeks ago with the Impreza 22B? That had just the right level of grip and slip to make it fun.. This takes an incredibly capable track car (barely road legal) and then put's the world's cheapest ditchfinder tyres on it? But even with ancient bald ditchfinder tyres I would imagine the GTAm would put it's power down better in the real world than it does in GT7, it hardly has an open diff does it? GRRRRRR. Will try the other combos soon, neither are lighting my fire by the comments so I'm feeling just a little bit unexcited by the lineup right now :ouch:

That’s what ruins what could have been the best TT in a long time. My friend has a Quadrifoglio, it’s crazy fast for a sedan. Yet again (GT4 Cayman) they ruin a great track car forcing us to drive it on Prius tires. It would be a little understandable if it came with crap tires. Can’t wait for the future TT of the Super Formula on Comfort Hard tires 🙄

Anyway, this afternoon was my only time to put into these 3 TT’s so my goals were pretty light.
Gold 1:39 at RBR in the Alfa: 15 laps, 1:39.852, 2.27%. Check.
Gold at Fuji: 7 laps in the 911, 2 laps in the new AMG, 3 laps in the Huracan, 1:41.253, 2.56%. Check.
Silver but within 3% at Deep Forest: After 150 or so miles with over half being cancelled including a 1:17.2, 1:17.715. Silver, but a fail. Oh well, I’ll take the $2m.
Would have to study a replay or 2 to improve any of those.

Unrelated but kinda cool, after seeing red (Literally, everywhere) in the Olympics, decided to drive my own car in the game since it’s not track season here yet. A comparison, IRL vs GT7. Different tracks of course. Exiting turns like that isn’t the fastest, but it’s definitely the funnest.

I don't like Red Bull Ring. It's not that I struggle there, I just don't care for it. Currently at 1:39.995, I could do better but RBR just isn't a fun track to drive for me so I don't know if I can be bothered. Whereas apparently unbeknownst to me I must have some sort of affinity with Fuji because where I'm normally between 2.3 and 2.6% off #1, at Fuji I'm within 2% with a 1:40.651! I do suspect that will tumble and fall down to my usual gap by the end if it hasn't already, but I was happy for the moment. Meanwhile the Olympic challenge I have to actually use hood cam because the FOV is too lame for the cockpit view, and I only now learned that 7th gear is useless.

Yeah it is kind of ruïned on one hand, and the tire choise is completely off, but I did have a lot of fun with it 🤣 and I must say I had quite soon a fairly save time with it, slip and slide and good for PAD 🤣

Thr bad thing about 3 TT's at thr same time is that I not going to find the time to put as much efford in as It was just one, but I do like the change!

As for now

RBR - 1:39.627 (should do the trick)
Fuji - 1:41.305 (not save and my fav track 🤣)
DF - 1.17.086 (16' is my goal here, I'm not a high speed high downforce lover on PAD,

Or it's just the age again........ 🤣🤣

Sat in the 1.39s at RBR and Fuji, hoping that should be that. Last section of Fuji always causes me far more trouble that it should, I pray they give us the 70s and 80s layout back!

As for the Olympic sat at 16.8 achieved on the pad, probably a few tenths to find but don't see myself getting into the 15s for gold... Even dug out the wheel for a few goes but couldn't improve on a 17.5

As it stands right now if I sum up best sectors for top 12 replays I get optimum of 1:14.812 which would be 1:15.934 gold cutoff.

Very happy with my 1:15.826 even though I lost 0.41 just from last sector...... I was so shaky that I finally got decent first 2 sectors so I missed apex completely for that last hairpin... (in case someone is interested I also uploaded replay to Collection tab)

Hi,

I, for one, am a big big fan of the "invalidated" lap - as opposed to a time penalty! This means I can continue with a lap and not ruin the following lap. I would love to see this implemented permanently. Just for the Time Trials obviously. Its a much better system IMHO.

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Found another 2 tenths with the Alfa 1.40.2xx .
Pretty sure I can break the 1.40. wall I was on a very hot lap before and throw it all away in the last corner.
Some advice for guys who struggle with the gold time here.
TCS-0 and maybe TCS-1 is for sure faster but for me it is totally inconsistent wit h DS-5 ….ended up in chaotic spinning and turns by accelerating to soon.
I use TCS-3 all other assist out. For me it feels more like I drive the car and not sitting on the back seat.
And use the second gear only once after the climb to faster turning in and accelerate in third gear after hitting the apex.

Well Im 46 so… 😄😄😄

And if I remember right, @seadog777 is like the grandfather to us all?? 😂
Well I don't actually remember ever letting on my age on this forum, but I am older than you, young man! 😇
Yeah, for some aliens age is just a number ......🤣🤣🤣
I'm not sure if you're referring to me as "an Alien" (probably not and I misunderstood!), but you'll see from my times etc. that I am far, far away from being even close to Alien! 🤣

Tough to get my head around the top time of 1:14.9 at Deep Forest.

How do these aliens do it?
I really do not know, it beats me. I always go around the bush many times trying to figure out their secret. Even watching some of replays over and over I still cannot even get close to them. So I am stuck in a hard place here and not a good one either. My time is 1'41.777 so far, I cracked silver yesterday morning! I did have to buy several tune-ups for my car in the tuning shop.

Yesterday I felt like I was dreaming but something very weird happened!!! We can no longer download the ghosts of the first ones on the 3 TT??? Can someone tell me if I was dreaming or not??
