Getting closer, but the goalposts keep moving... Top 1.04% but no gold. Go figure.

TT stats.jpg

In the start Bonelli was in first with 1,15.075,,, yesterday I saw him with 1,15.050 (+-) but spent 1000 kms for this recovery.
Gallo comes makes 300 km and is in first

Yeah it only takes a few seconds to check once I've downloaded the results. After the radical time trial there were 214 people left with gold on every time trial.

For now there are 109 that have all gold including the Olympic one (not including rbr and Fuji trials). If the cut off had been 3% like normal it would have been 178.

But theres still time left so presumably some of the ones not currently on for gold will get it before it ends.

I'd have all gold if it wasn't for the physics change during a time trial in late October I think. Had a gold time, went to Japan for 3 weeks and came home to a silver. Times had improved significantly!

I looked a bit at my historical data on TTs to confirm the feeling I had.
In short now my minimum goal for TTs is comfortable silver, and I see that I am achieving it with seemingly greater speed.
I came up with this graph that weighs the achievement (the percentage against the record), its color (gold, silver, bronze) and the KMs it took me to get it. The graph confirms my feeling.

The other thing I notice more and more present is that while I used to have a slow and fairly constant improvement within the two weeks of the TT, now I arrive fairly quickly near my limit and improve little from there on. I hardly reach my theoretical ideal, sometimes I don't improve anymore, or I turn more and more steadily lowering the personal best often without marking in any section a record intermediate time.

This makes me think I have the wrong approach to TT, but I don't understand what to do to change it.

it's as if my head, once I find a good combination of braking and apex references, is devoted to repetition rather than finding areas for improvement.

Those track limits on Deep Forest are unfair. I have more than half the car on the track but you say I went out of bouunds. Same with RBR. The green barriers are OB? Why have them if they are OB? Still haven't tried Fuji since that one expires last. 2 tenths away from gold on RBR and barely into silver territory for DF. Need to grind RBR tonight to get gold.

Only got the game a few months ago but this is probably going to be my first Silver, currently on 16.284. 16.0 might be doable but I think Gold will be asking just a bit too much from me (still on controller).

Anyone who ends up Golding this on controller is officially an alien as far as I'm concerned!

I checked my time on Deep Forest and it was down to 9.79% and I easily found an extra second or two and got 7.69% so will get the bronze at least, but I havent driven Gr1 modern cars much and think it would take a bit on pad to find another couple of seconds to scrape a silver, so moved onto Red Bull Ring.

I was worried about driving the Alfa after hearing people struggle with it, but found it responds well to solid clear directions. You need to make sure you can get on and stay on the power early through the corner. Found it was best to brake hard, then turn hard into the apex early and get on the power ASAP since this big Alfa doesn't seem too happy coasting or lifting off. Within a few laps I had secured an easy silver 0.6 seconds clear. For this to be made a bronze some alien will have to knock well over half a second this evening off the WR. I'm not saying they won't but I'm going to be quite confident loading up tomorrow morning.

Olympic Time Trial is an easy 2m. Tried it for the first time tonight and found the track limits very confusing. Golded RBR quickly by resorting to Traction Control 3 - could not consistently get out of the first two corners cleanly without it.

Looks like our times go hand in hand. :D Got exactly the same time: 1:15.747.

Truce?
What are they feeding you boys in Finland!? Epic times, I will never be this quick I don't think. Well played, well played. Feel free to add me on PSN (Danger_Dan986 I think, yes I know I know sexy username...) to make me feel more inadequate @djolliea

Really frustrating day today, tried RBR/Alfa with no improvement and gave up. My least favourite TT so far, I couldn't get to GRIPS with the combo if you know what I mean... It was extremely TYREing! Ended with 1:39.045 but I made that time within two sessions and never got close to improving

As for the Olympics Esports Series.. I still both love it and hate it. The track limits are very aggressive which always leads to frustration but at least it's only your time getting the red mist and not a penalty shanking your hot/following lap. I made some real improvements today although no super clean lap time so far I have improved and getting consistent mid 1:16's. If I work at it I think Gold is doable but I'm not an Alien nor Finnish by birth so it's going to be a real struggle BUT IMMA TRY Y'ALL. This for me is a proper TT!!!

Oh ffs another probable 2 hours of trial and error to get 1:15.7 to ... hopefully, finally cement the gold prize.

Insane how these guys manage to get so much faster like this. This time trial isn't just difficult because of the 1.5% difference, but because the world's best players will be using everything in their power to create the perfect lap.

And us casual pad players will have it rough with those slow ass steering inputs (it's so ridiculous the difference in steering at the hairpin between a wheel user and a pad).

Managed to post a 1.39.995 on RBR (with the alt) and 1.40.0 something with the main - so they should be safe for gold. Interesting journey to there - was gold earlier in the week with a 1.40.5 - times improved got to 1.40.295 and 1.40.3 to get back into golds - but felt it was not safe enough.
Safely in silver on Fuji - but room for improvement - I have not done many laps and have not even looked at a lap guide yet - so fairly proud of the achievement to date and "working it out myself".
Hanging onto silver in the Olympic time trial - with only 30 or so laps under my belt - and again without a lap guide and driving with cockpit view - so that itself is a feat around Deep Forest in that car!

It was the Daytona time trial that got me hooked on these - without it I would probably have stopped playing months ago.

Gallo super smooth and good for the gear changes, if you follow that exactly you will have a lot of red times though, he exceeded track limits a lot :D
I noticed that too but pretty sure they filmed that a few weeks ago, based on what he's wearing and a post he put up on socials, obviously they didn't turn on track limits, it's just a little content for the official channel, i wouldn't fire anyone for that blunder

Finally, 1:40.017 at RBR with the Alfa. I'm so sick of running this car on this track. Both are good independent of eachother, but together I can't stand them. I had to put 125 miles on this TT tonight just to drop 1 tenth of a second off my best to get gold. The tight right hander at the top of the hill and the last 2 turns down the hill to the finish line were my nemesis. I could easily get ~4 tenths of a second just by hitting turn 1 correctly, then I would give it all back at the top of the hill. Make back some time in the middle of the track, then give it all back and then some on those last 2 turns. Ugg, put a fork in me. I'm done.

"I couldn’t get to gips with yhe combo"....you are a freaking .5 seconds faster than me who thought....yeah finally a grippy lap 🤣🤣 with my 39.6 ...

It's so funny how mixed everyone's feeling about these TT's are, I found the Alfa the most fun of the 3 and rate it high on my most fun TT list and the DF one I'm not that big of a fan off,

You went to 16.2 I noticed, great solid, Nd smooth lap! Congrats!

I did a long stint of 40 laps this morning but couldn't improve, best 16.9 I'm struggling 🤣🤣

Me and Tracklimits NO friends

This post is not adviced for Alfa Romeo fans.

I love the Giulia in The Crew 2 so I was absolutely hyped when it got announced for GT7. If anything, we still need more Alfa cars in this game, but I'm still salty that we got the GTAm, not the base version. Yeah whatever I don't like it!

I also have a specific disdain from using it way to much on Tokyo and I simply learned to hate this car, from interior all the way to handling.

Anyway, I was doing the Fuji TT so I thought "why the hell not". After a few laps and a lot of "holy shi I hate this car" moments, I got a 1:39.816. Less than 1 hour left and think it's enough for gold.

As for Fuji, I had to bring my GT Miku and I got a 1:40.221. Probably not enough for gold. I'm thinking about trying again with the Porsche.

Before the closing statistics for TT23 in the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm '20 at Red Bull Ring, an Olympic update. Under 1:16, but more to go...

TT23 turned out to be somewhat easy based on reward distribution; 1.5 x the usual got gold; it was easiest for silver; the least proportion of drivers got no reward. So, tricky to drive, but easy to get a reward.

Yep.

I'm gutted I didn't get more time on it as I set a decent time in my second session, but then went to get a time at Fuji and since then (Fri/Sat) it has been all Deep Forest. Still, decent result.
