Based on the image just posted I am dangerously close to dropping out of gold on the Nurb... guess I'll have to go back and have another attempt. I might try and have a session tonight as well and see if I can improve on the Grand Valley time, amazingly still sitting at 170th despite not having driven it since the first day.

I've never been very good at the Ring, but I have managed to get my time down to a 8:25.9. I'm guessing I'll have to improve on this a bit to stay in silver.
Well, I'm chuffed because I finally got under 9 minutes! 🤣 8:58.5 and took me 4 laps today. I'm exhausted!
Only managed by choosing a smaller more agile car, the Alfa 4C. What a nice car, reasonably quick, planted and very forgiving.
That puts me 11.4% off the leader so I think my chances of getting a medal are pretty slim.

Off to have a lie-down! 😊

Thank you for being here, I feel less alone with my poor skills compared to all aliens posting here 😅

That was my first clean lap in a couple of days ... the madness had started to creep in.

For those worrying about the gold and silver times at the Ring: the world record was set on the first day of the TT and has not moved since. Curious and makes me wonder wtf? Could also mean that it will not move at all until the end?

Oh that's interesting, I've not checked in since I set my lap but I had assumed it had done the usual slow creep down with diminishing improvements.

I hope you're right and it doesn't shift 😅

I thought there might have been a 5 tenths improvement between day 1 and 2, although it belonged to the same player. I think the cause for concern is given how long the lap is, any sort of improvement is linear i.e a 2 tenths improvement will shift the gold time by almost 2 tenths

Started out at the Nürburgring thinking 8:10 should be achievable for me, but after seeing the WR was above 8 minutes I knew this goal might be a bit far fetched.

After settling for a first PB in the low 8:16 I switched to the BRZ and instantly improved to almost 14 flat, which made me wonder if 13 should be doable too. When I broke into the 13's the second lap (that abruptly ended at the end of Fuchsröhre) started even quicker and the opt read 8:12.4xx. Can't really do long stints with multiple laps atm as I'm literally sitting and waiting on kidney stones to come out, and either the pain keeps me distracted or pain killers slow me down and these long Nürburgring laps are not easy to push through. My condition kept me up last night and since the opt didn't let me go I went for another attempt and despite the meds kicking in I finally broke into the 12's. Still a long way from my initial goal of going below 8:10, but I'll take a 3.5-4 second improvement as a success. Also interesting to see: the quicker I go, the slower the lap feels. Since there's a few days left I might try another car or try to further improve the BRZ time.

No tracklimit on picture 6? :)
Seriously good job, all the more considering your story posted above.
I'm sober, without pain, fully focused and 5 seconds slower

Good luck with the stones, get well soon 👍

Small improvement at GV today after 50 miles, I really like this one.. fun and interesting track, interesting car, short laps, easy gold…. It’s everything I like in a TT. I might try again later to get within the magical 1 second zone as it feels very doable. Reminds me of the Alphard trial but with more exciting handling/track.

As for Nurburgring… I’m going to row back on my ‘dream’. I’m struggling to find the right car still, the RSR is great but it’s definitely not the quickest car. I tried the Genesis that @djolliea peddled so quickly round but found it too lively for my dim witted brain! I retried the Huracan but it didn’t stick and eventually bought the 650S… it MIGHT have legs as it’s quite stable and has similar traction to the RSR but maybe slightly more agile? It feels like it needs a slow in/early power/fast out strategy but my gut feeling is it’s better gear ratios might give it an advantage over the RSR? Has anyone committed to the 650S?

I might try the Supra as well but given how many people have struggled with it I think I know the outcome. Same with the BRZ, I don’t understand that cars handling so I’m always going to be slower with it than the RSR.

Yes, oddly no penalty if you only cut the first part of that corner. Lost a bit of time on that one but the overall lap was clean enough to compensate for this misstep.
And thank you :)

I’ve committed to the RSR because I’m not as good as you, so I need a more approachable, consistent vehicle that I can then rely while I improve me. There may be faster cars, but given that I’m the limiting factor, the only way for me to get a better result is not binning it every lap 😂

Ppffff..... I'm consistently faster until half of the lap 🤣, for 3 laps now I stuffed up the left hander after the first backstraight with the RSR..... but see 04:40.xx more often there so I made some progression 😁
I'm dying to gold it, it's the ring, it's my thing, but the aliens have a different swing

No time anymore today, but should be able to make some more laps this weekend 😁😁

Porsche RSR driver here. For the first few days I couldn't get my time below 8:31:x; kept studying and watching the faster players, following their lines and braking points, slowly chipped away but crashed way too many times. Took a day away from the Ring, came back fresh and managed a 8:24:x twice. Love the Ring.

As a RSR lover, I will follow your path and try to take advantage of your smart advices to improve my PB on the Ring (8:42:777).

I struggled a bit with the track limits on this one, it took me a while to set a clean and fast lap but overall it was an easy gold.

Nurburgring up next... It's going to be a bit tricky for me since I didn't really bother with the previous Nordschleife TT because of Christmas.

Finally got silver with the Steam Iron in the valley, anyone knows which is the easiest car to get Silver in the ring ?
Tried the usual, Rsr, Huracan, Mclaren,R8, 458 and the Mazda Stealth,GTR, Supra, BRZ but cant get close, tried the Bettle today but it was crap.
Anyone else ?

Try the Genesis X.

.....the left hander after the first backstraight with the RSR.....
The one that just require a slight lift on the throttle, then fully commit to it hoping you don't bin it on the exit? I hate that corner :yuck:

The RSR is probably your safest bet...a bit harder to spin that car, but you do have to watch the understeer when powering out a corner. I ended up using the Corvette Gr3 and it seems to work pretty well for me.

It's very personal but I feel more comfortable with MR cars on the Ring. So, the RSR is my 1st choice for now. It's not the fastest but this Porsche is very versatile, which is the best quality on that track.

When you think about it, it actually makes sense, I'd argue this is probably the only track in GT7 where something like this could happen. The track requires tremendous amount of practice to have any type of pace, and then even more practice to go very quick, and even more to go alien pace. Track requires crazy amount of consistency too and bravery, and when you really get into the rhytm or 'flow', you can somehow manage to produce a very good lap that will be tough to match again, let alone beaten, even by yourself.

Also the racing hard tires probably play a factor too, with being lower grip on a bumpy track and the hards also are much more unforgiving than softer tires, and in general players use these much less than other tire compounds. This all plays even more into the hands of my theory in the first paragraph.

I think the #1 time could be beaten, but it has a very good chance to hold on too.
