No, this is a display error or is due to how I share these recordings.
I do my laps and when I have improved my time and don't want to continue or make a serious mistake in the lap afterwards, I leave the attempt. Then I save this fastest lap and start the replay. Then I start recording this round to share it on YouTube afterwards. Unfortunately, you only see a completely red brake bar in the replay AND you immediately see my best lap time so far, i.e. exactly the time I just set.

My best time before that was 1:45.550, an improvement from outstanding
0.017 seconds (if I haven't miscalculated)... OK faster but unfortunately just too much wasted in S3.. a 1.45.2xx was definitely within reach when I could finally drive clean S3. If I pack the COD well even though I'm super on time, I regularly mess up the very last corner.
Aah that explains my previous question about the "only" red bar!,
Yes i think 45.2xx was certainly there with a flawless S3, sticking it all together is a real pain in the a*s lol.

Did you guys notice any difference in physics on the TT after 1.20?, or doesn't it affect the TT?

So the GT-R seems unchanged, at least I've noticed absolutely no difference. I drive steering wheel (T248) with manual shift, ABS on standard, no other assistants. The M4 that I briefly tested drives somehow a bit more difficult / "bitchy" I didn't manage to drive even one really clean lap in 10 laps. I had already lost time in S1 compared to Wednesday. The COD was almost always an impossibility and the last corner was a pure drift event. So either I just wasn't in my "groove" for the M4 or something was changed significantly.

Yeah, braking is a real thing, i learn more in this time trial braking-wise then a did in all those years of playing GT
This my 1st gt game since the ps1 days, getting into it now, took some getting used to after 2 years hammering dirt rally 2.0. Just shy of silver on last TT, couldn't be bothered putting the effort in this one, to be just shy again.

The difference between the older GT's and 7 is pretty big imo, the physics are a bit different, but i think def for the better,
and for your info, most of us who attack the timetrial have been putting in some serious miles and time, including me
If you want some serious laptimes, you have to put in some work to know the track, i thought i knew Dragontail pretty good, but my brakingpoint, gearing and apexes were pretty far off when i started!

Nice to see someone making a comeback to GT7 from the old days!, have fun!

Yes loving it, I did put some effort in the last one around 10-15 laps most nights during the event. .3 seconds off silver in the end. I will be having another go over the weekend to get myself off the bottom of my friends list, out of pure pride rather tgan the quest for silver.

Just have a look at our laps in the previous pages, study them and read the tips of the faster guys, and you will have that gold in no time!, easy 2 mil, :)

Good luck!

I got down to a 1’45.412 yesterday but ran wide and my left front and rear were on the grass for the first right hand corner. Had a few more laps and was ahead of my ghost every time but lost all time not being smooth enough through the chicane. If I can put it all together I think I can run a 45.1, but it’s tough to get the chicane and last corner right when ahead of my ghost.

Jesus, that final chicane is driving me insane.

My best time so far is a 1:45.7 but I lifted on the final chicane and lost a whole bunch of time.

I set a ghost of a top 50 time (a 1:45.0) and up until the exit of that chicane I am basically glued to his back, with the back end of his ghost just glued to the front of my car, so I'm probably running a potential 1:45.1 lap here. On sector 1 I always lose like 2 tenths because of that first chicane which is also not easy to nail, but I claw most of that back in sector 2 where I actually gain time on that top 50 ghost.
Then comes that final chicane... And every time I do a great Sector 1 and Sector 2, I ****ing have to screw all of that lap on the exit of that chicane while lifting or crashing. And when I do nail that chicane by doing it flat out and not crashing, my S1 and S2 were either bad or at most bang average.
Its been my nemesis on this time trial.

I can't believe there are peeps out there who can do 5 laps while going for a qualifying run and not crash once on that chicane. Maybe its because it's a Gr.4 car? I drove before with a Gr.3 car and that chicane was pretty trivial.

The physics also seem to have changed, the GT-R is a bit harder to drive now under braking and has a slight amount of oversteer. But it doesn't feel any slower.

No longer bottom, invested now.on the hunt for my 1st silver

So, it looks like I'm not going to get that elusive silver..... again! These Time Trials have made it clear I'm a Bronze Level driver. That sounds OK until you think what it takes to get bronze - within 10% of the leader's time. Sounds reasonable.

However, say you're on a track that an Alien can do in 3 minutes. You will get Bronze if you can do it in 3 minutes 18 seconds.
18 seconds.... let's count that down.... a thousand and one, a thousand and two, a thousand.... etc. That's a 🤬 long time!!!

I am in awe of the top drivers, and where they find all that extra speed in an identical PP car amazes me! Hats off to you.

My thoughts exactly

Have 6 tenths in hand for the Gold so will leave it there. For future time trials the first thing I’ll do is watch a guide. Wasted an hour hitting a 1.47 wall. Watched a guide and immediately into the 1.46’s!

Matching the topic, I have something to make you smile/shake your head/amaze.. note rounds 1 and 2....

I've seen people asking about the target time for gold, silver and bronze....do they get changed throughout the event or are they set for the duration of the event? I'm just getting into this whole time trial thing and this is my first event. Haven't played GT7 in months now and didn't even know about it until I saw this thread.

I was really struggling to get to the silver target and was just stuck in the 1.50s 2 nights ago and just now I managed to get 1.47.778 only to realize that I'm now only a tenths off gold...my ultimate lap says I could do 1.47.522...lets see if I can get it done 😅

The target times are a percentage of the current world leader - 103% for gold, 105% for silver, 110% for bronze.

This event is relatively new but really interesting. Gold/Silver/Bronze times have certain limits from the fastest time achieved on the task in question. That is, if a route starts again and the first driver zb. requires exactly 2 minutes then gold would be anything in the range of 2 minutes +3% if this time is now significantly improved from 2 minutes to e.g. 1.45, xxx then you also have to be faster to get gold. After a few days at the latest, however, most aliens will have thrown their gloves in the ring and the very best time will only improve by 0.0xx or 0.00x, if at all.

I'm assuming you need to complete Menu Book nine to unlock these? IIRC I am on Menu Book two. Only briefly played the game at launch so I'm a slow starter. I want to save up for the MP4/4 so hopefully I can get some credits from this. Everyone seems so fast.

yes, menu 9 to unlock sport mode to access the TTs, then you’ll need menu 17 I think to unlock the Legends dealer for the Mclaren.

It is interesting indeed. I can totally get behind this since I'm not taking part in the daily races....at least not until there's a track/car combo that I like.

Thanks for the info. I might save up before trying to get to menu 17. Ended up not taking that long to complete up to menu nine and getting Gold on the time trial yesterday. Was off by quite a bit, 1.8 seconds... I think if I put together a better lap probably can get into low 45's but 44's seem like it will be difficult with using the DualSense controller for me. On the last braking point, the trigger resistance goes from very strong to light to medium strong which can make it very difficult to nail the last corner. Might try again and use DS4 on PS4 and see how that feels if I can be bothered to try again at the end.

I must say given how they try and nickel-and-dime for things in this game, the rental service and this TT is very generous. I must have wrecked so many GT-R's at the CoD yet they didn't charge me at all. I ended up lifting feeling sorry for them and GT-Rs as I probably wrecked enough to wipe them out of existence. In all honesty though, I just did it to save time wasting efforts and I should get two million credits as a reward for my kamikaze driving, kind of crazy! Great if these are fortnightly and they keep giving these kind of rewards.

Interestingly after I finished playing GT7, I got an email shortly from Facebook (Which I don't use) out of nowhere that I should join groups for GT7 and Lewis Hamilton...

Nice that you like TT so much... in addition to that you can also do the CE's to earn even more credits.

Don't worry about the GT-R. That's just camouflage... the GT-R isn't called "Godzilla" for nothing, it's indestructible ;D
He just looks broken so the others don't get depressed in their Alfs/Ferraris ectr. grin

BTW. Yesterday I briefly tested the Viper on my second account and was immediately faster than with the M4. The thing is sooo fast... braking and cornering are a bit trickier, but the power is awesome and the grip is great. The Viper has significantly more rear wheel grip than e.g. the M4, the sound is cool too. I can only recommend this car, the Viper is fun... but it is NOT a GT-R, that must be clear.

I tried 15 laps this morning with the GTR, but i can't seem to find the flow anymore, i think in 15 laps, i was defeated by the CoD 10 times, it is prob just me, but i can't get the GTR to turn in like i used to do, so corner 1 and the CoD are difficult right now, so did some grinding instead of trying to '45 it

just yesterday I got my first gold with GT-R gr.4. Now I got 1 of each medal 🥇🥈🥉

For me the key in that truck was to smoothly pass with half/full throttle the curve just before the very last turn. This was the hardest part for me, I was mostly failing there. The rest of the truck is easy. Also let me tell you that without following the best global ghost I was struggling to get lower than 1,50. With the ghost loaded I managed to lower to 1,47,200 in like 20 tries. It helps a lot as it shows you where to slow, accelerate, etc. Good luck everyone!
