Half_sourly, offer still open? Would love a copy of my results. GT7 name = n00bbler
Yup. I'm away at the moment but will sort it out on Sunday.
I think one can extract most of the speed from C9 if you shift just after bar hits the end of bar and starts blinking red blue, example from 4th to fifth at 308 km/h.I'm struggling my way through Le Mans at the moment in the C9. Managed a 3:30 flat last night, so I'm hoping to pull that down by a couple of seconds to sneak below 3:29 into the silver zone. Anyone got any good tips for extracting tike out of the C9? Is it a "rev all the way out" kinda car, or shift early? I've been using TC=1 to keep the tail end under control - unsure if if it's quicker to turn it off at any point?? Any pointers are most appreciated!
It is a bit hard to pinpoint any specific tips other than the general "use all the track", "brake as late as you dare", "apply power as early as you can". But if there is one corner that you want to get right ... It is Tertra Rouge (the right hander right before the straight). Getting it right and getting it wrong can be the difference of a good second. It is not a terribly difficult corner...but you kinda have to do it by feel....there is hardly any reference point for when to brake and when to turn in.I'm struggling my way through Le Mans at the moment in the C9. The VR in your replay seems to be revolutionary for the hairpins as you can now see the exit before you’re on top of it. Are you 100% VR now?
The left hander is pretty much a flat out corner. Maybe apexed too early? Can always sacrifice the first right hander a bit trying to swing the car to the right before flooring it for the left? Also.... don't look at the wall...you tend to go where you are looking 😂I can't seem to slow enough not to hit that wall at Porsche, but with no penalty for that it gets me wondering if it isn't the faster way around there For my sketchy driving abilities ofcourse.
You're the best! Much appreciated.
First thing I would say is to drop the Mazda and go with Sauber, I was in the same boat in the beginning, switching constantly between Mazda, Sauber, 919 and the 908 but as with others Sauber did it for me in the end. Watch mine and other's replays couple pages back and post yours. You definitely have it in you so just don't give up, analyze your replay and keep trying.Another one of those "nosebleed" improvements.
First part of the track slower, caught my ghost after Arnage, hit the wall at Porsche (again) and got away with shady crossing of Corvette curve. I was literally waiting for penalty to flash on screen - to no avail, so ended the lap rather cautiously.

Kinda annoyed that I'm getting slower at Le Mans (while others are getting quicker), so I threw another 250km at it. Came back with a 3:23.6, which is 1/10 faster than my PB....I will take that. I could've been WAY faster as the first 1/2 of the lap was NOT spectacular at all. Like first sector was a messy 30.9 (I normally can do 30.4 or 5) and the other sectors in the first 1/2 was either a normal sector or a bit slower. I must have done a spectacular (for me) later 1/2 of the lap to beat my PB.
The Dunlop chicane and Tertre Rouge are my two worst corners...31's in S1 should be a standard, make sure you are cutting the Dunlop chicane as much as you can while exiting in 3rd gear.
The fastest the Ferrari 499P went was 3:22.982 (Source) during the hyperpole. If they want me to do this TT, give me the 499P.
That's because the tires on Mazda 787B or Sauber-Merc C9 are modern racing tires, and also they have plenty more power and torque. The fastest the Ferrari 499P went was 3:22.982 (Source) during the hyperpole.
Still good for gold, but the C9 might still be faster
No problem! Another general tip is simply look at where you want to go. Don't just stare at the apex and try to micro manage the car to hit it dead on....once you are almost at the apex, immediately turn you attention to where you want to place the car at the exit (be it the next apex or turn in point of the next apex or simple the curb at the exit) Your brain does strange thing and will just guide you there automagically, usually result in a much smoother exit and let you apply power a lot earlier compare to just staring at the road right in front of you. Thanks for sharing your lap in the C9. I'm trying the same car and I can see I'm miles off the pace in the first half of the lap (like 34s for the first sector...) but then nearly matching you through the middle of the lap, then dropping a load of time in the last sector. I'll have to have another go tonight and try mimic some of your braking/turning points to see if I can extract some more time!
At least you can re-try Dunlop over and over again till you get it right and go from there. The Dunlop chicane and Tertre Rouge are my two worst corners...
