39.2 is a very strong result! You actually can control the rate how fast/slow the wheels are turned. Go into controller settings and experiment with controller steering sensitivity slider. Mine is set at 2
I change the controller sensitivity on every combo. I find I have to to get the best times. However, as others have gone into in depth, the input on screen doesn't match the input on the screen, there is some sort of translation function.

Obviously there is zero actual "feel" also.

In that case I guess your initial question was a rhetorical one :) Seems like you're clocking some very quick times with a controller, but there's an obvious limitation to what can be achieved with DS controller vs steering wheel.

The original question was about how to stop the snap oversteer. There wasn't anything rhetorical about it. If I could sort it out, and get the car into the first part of Eau Rouge and over Radillon more efficiently I could do a decent 2:38.

Improved a little today at BMB,still not sure if it will be enough, ya,i'm looking at you 👽's

I didn't have time for any of the standard TT today, but put down some laps at Daytona again for the Porsche eSports event.

Pretty solid improvement, but my optimals still look better and there's one more day to push for more. If I could manage my optimal lap from today, I'd be ranked 51 as of posting. But I'm still pretty satisfied with my results so far.

Also, I shared my BMB lap if anybody needs a slower Gold ghost to follow. Lap looks pretty clean if I do say so myself.

This video explains it. Just disable any song (triangle) and then pick it for the music replay. Whatever camera is used in the start will stick for the whole replay. For time.trials you have to exit/restart until you get lucky and start in the camera you want. For race replays you can switch cars until you get it !
Sorry for taking so long to respond. Haven't been ok here for the whole week, basically

It worked, thank you so much!

I'm making several videos, before this "function" is disabled.

Struggling with this one, but the advice to add racing stripes got me barely into gold.

@Jeje6410 we are in trouble when the aliens find another tenth!

My biggest confusion with this combo is the need to get a lucky bounce coming into turn one, and why the car is programmed to do a tankslapper whenever I'm within two tenths of my optimal lap. 😂

I think some more practice is needed.

Haha! Truth right there. I've had a few times I felt like I was in a bouncy castle coming off the banking in turn 1. And suddenly getting sideways in the final turn when you're easily on your best lap is incredibly annoying.

As for tonight's session...after meddling in the mid-low 1:13's lap after lap, I'm not sure where in the world this time came from. I guess I had the perfect bounce in turn 1, but I have no idea how I did it. AND my final corner wasn't an oversteery disaster! :dopey:

Early days, but it feels good to be up here again.

My best wasn't far off my optimal.

Normally it's the Finns, but this time I had to split up the Brits. :P

Seems like you and I are having similar experiences - did another half hour and dropped to 1:13.4 due to an accidentally perfect slide into the hairpin. Can't do it again, but I think gold is safe so I think I'm done!

I think the Viper is now firmly established as my least favorite car in the game.

It’s like trying to drive a waterbed, the whole damn car just sloshes around. You don’t really drive this car you just try your best to keep it from destroying itself.

EDIT: This is pretty much how it feels to drive the Viper

Well folks, here it is! I'm in the bronze group at Spa, it took me about 6 or 7 more times before I nailed the concept down, however there is a huge problem. The two obstacles at the end keep killing my time. I was even at below 2'30.000 when I reached the last section before the sharp two S-bends. And still after that I finished at about 2'50.000. That's almost 20 seconds.

If I could find a quick, fast way to navigate those hard corners without going offtrack that would be nice. However I cannot figure it out, they're like sausage curbs too. So I'm not 100% sure about gold on this one. Silver, maybe. We'll see how it goes later.

If I may offer a few suggestions. You can make some good gains here.

I think it would be worth adding the racing line driver aid to help you learn the track. You seem to turn in too early in quite a few places, which compromises the whole corner. You're also not using the whole width of the track, which is making it more difficult for you.

Maybe consider the brake indicator, too, to help you get consistent with your braking points. You're braking too early, to the point you actually get back on the throttle before a corner sometimes.

There are a couple of places you could make the biggest gains. Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. If you can focus on carrying more speed through those, you'll make a huge chunk of time. Blanchimont is the easier of the two. Stay in 5th, use the whole track and try to stay up around 130mph. Then brake for the final chicane where the white line crosses the track.

Personally I find it easier to get into it by just doing consecutive laps rather than restarting (unless I get a penalty somewhere).

It's well worth watching someone like @Tidgney's track guide on YouTube.

Aside from what @250Cal said...smooth input is also a key. From what I see in the video, I guess you use the pad buttons for throttle and brake? Maybe consider using the L2/R2 instead? I know it is hard to change habit, but the ability to trail brake into the corner and then gradually increase throttle during corner exit will net you many SECONDS per lap.

I know we have one or two residential alien who can do stupid fast lap time with pad buttons...but they are aliens :D

I'm getting much much more smooth with the wheel but I still have a lot of trouble with both the current TTs. I almost want to use the controller and see how far off pace the wheel has me. I rarely race either of these tracks so I'm super unfamiliar to begin with and I've been spending time just grinding on tracks I enjoy to up my time with the wheel where I know I'm at least competitive. Might try again today for a bit if I find the time.

You will just have to bite the bullet and tough it out. When I first switched to the wheel, I was way slower compare to the controller. I stuck with it and now is probably as fast as controller.

FWIW ..I found I can drive on the limit better with controller, as I can catch an oversteer much easier...but the wheel gives me much better consistency....and of cause a lot smoother.

Quick 40 miles at Daytona this morning in the RSR for the Porsche eSports event. Pulled another 0.4 off my previous best for a 1:46.838. If I string my optimals together I might be able to pip @Dolph Drago but don’t see a world where I catch @GlockPants.

All this was after watching the Belgian GP this morning, so I’m officially done at Daytona and off to Spa to try and get gold.

Haven’t even looked at the Viper event and traveling for work again this week, so dependent on how my laps at Spa go, I might not get any time in the Viper before next weekend. Race on!

Well I also need to find a good line at the last double left-turn chicane at the end, then find a high-speed exit that will give me a time under 1'14.000. That is the goal for this challenge, but thanks for the feedback, maybe I should switch button controls?
Did you golded the Blue Moon Bay CE with the Mustang? The cars aren't similar but you could learn some useful points.
