Quick 40 miles at Daytona this morning in the RSR for the Porsche eSports event. Pulled another 0.4 off my previous best for a 1:46.838. If I string my optimals together I might be able to pip @Dolph Drago but don’t see a world where I catch @GlockPants.

All this was after watching the Belgian GP this morning, so I’m officially done at Daytona and off to Spa to try and get gold.

Haven’t even looked at the Viper event and traveling for work again this week, so dependent on how my laps at Spa go, I might not get any time in the Viper before next weekend. Race on!
If I am speed today, I hopefully will improve some more. One of my final laps from yesterday was a real heater but I messed up the exit to the bus stop chicane and picked up a track limits penalty. I'd have been in the 1:45's if I had stuck it.

And I'm disappointed in myself for not recording the GP this weekend. I kept telling myself to but always slipped my mind :banghead:

Did you golded the Blue Moon Bay CE with the Mustang? The cars aren't similar but you could learn some useful points.

Yes I did, it took me a lot of attempts and trials to get it, wasn't an easy breeze for me. But I pulled through. I did it back in December 2022.
I have gold as well and I think without the aliens many of us would have more gold on these TT's, but they wouldn't be as fun as they are now thought, IMO.

I managed to shave off some thousands of a second last night 😂 , but improve by a second is impossible, so silver on these two is good enough.

Edit.

Just trying a bit more for fun and shaved off 4 tenths of a second and then some, my next lap in shock was not that good though... 😂

You will just have to bite the bullet and tough it out. When I first switched to the wheel, I was way slower compare to the controller. I stuck with it and now is probably as fast as controller.

FWIW ..I found I can drive on the limit better with controller, as I can catch an oversteer much easier...but the wheel gives me much better consistency....and of cause a lot smoother.
I'm not going back. That's the easy way. I've been waiting twenty years for a wheel. 😂👍👍

45’s is fire… no way I have that speed, I think the very best I could get would be a tenth or so off your current time. I got up early and watched the race live… kids are still asleep so I can get more laps in for now.

Hi guys

Quick post for me as life is busy! Caught up with both TT’s this weekend, can’t say I’m a fan of either… Spa is already a long track without it being damp! And then a difficult technical course with a car that can barely go in a straight line without losing control. Yeah. We are getting somewhere though, both are currently gold 🤗

For anyone struggling to get the Viper stopped, it looks like the WR is set using ABS WEAK. If anyone hasn’t tried that already it’s worth giving it a go as it does get the car stopper before that slow right hander. It makes the car even more lively though so only recommended if you have taken your brave pills 😂

I know I can go quicker at Spa but I don’t really have the patience to play the grip lottery again, this might be my final time 😂

This was pre abs setting revelation so I know there’s time to be had here. I don’t enjoy it but it’s much easier to grind than spa (getting the bus stop chicane wrong on a good lap is pain)

Good luck everybody!!

Logged in today and saw my previous gold time was just out of range so I grinded a few more laps down to a legit 1:13.401 which is actually a tick faster than my previous optimal lap. Hopefully that'll keep in me in gold for the duration of this challenge 🤞🤞

@Carlos Fandango

I was not Speed today!

50 laps and optimal time was 1:45.990 but I couldn't even manage to best my best time.

So many penalties at the bus stop :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Hilarious that both you and @Dolph Drago are even on lap time! I tapped out of this and moved onto Spa. Just over 150 miles completed, and despite finding chunks of time in the first sector, I can't string all three sectors together on the same lap. Optimal is well into the 2:39s, but over a complete lap I only managed to find 0.1... 🤦‍♂️ Still need 0.2 for gold, but taking a break to get some work done and then will try and grab another hour tonight.

Hi,

Ohhh my words! I am struggling with these current TT's. I just cannot find the level of throttle control that appears to come, readily, to those of another world! Too much and I wreck. Too little and I am 2 seconds off a "gold" lap.

Kudos and credit to those who can.

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Nailed a nearly perfect (for me) lap!!

Got into the top 100 for the very 1st time, and 2nd in the US :scared: I know this won't be the case in the near future but got to enjoy it while it last!

PS: Maybe knee brace does help 😆
PS2: I'm in the top 100 but still more than a FULL second away from the top time.....damn alien 👾

Long session at Spa this afternoon and finally crept into gold and cracked the 2:40 barrier with a 2:39.956. Tried TC1 but I felt that it was faster through the middle of the lap without it, so went back to 0 for the last hour or so and was both quicker and more consistent. In theory there is another 0.5 to my optimal but after 508 miles in this thing, I clearly don’t possess the skill to string it all together 😂. Unfortunately in my excitement I forgot to save my best lap which is a bit frustrating.

Off to put stripes on my Viper before dinner!

Well I didn't think I would get close to gold at Spa TT. But I did, at the same time I feel like 💩 for getting that close. I did a 2.40.254, but completely messed up T1 (lost 2 tenths). But I also fail to replicate my end of sector 2/start of sector 3 driving, no matter how hard I try 😤. 2 hours wasted for nothing. Aphelion, thanks a lot, if you would have driven slower like your closest challengers, I would have gold 😮‍💨

Tried again to get back into bronze at Spa today, couldn't get within a second of my best which is 2:51.xxx.
Away for a few days from tomorrow so looks like another race with no medal for me.

I have proclaimed publicly on this board that I am an "average driver".

I may have to review and downgrade this assessment.....

Spent this morning back at Spa. 1.5-hours. Wasn’t very productive until last 15-mins of course. Made a 0.15 improvement but that was the lap where I should have gotten gold. Watch my sorrow in the clip below where I lost a huge cushion at the double chicane.
Not sure if this will help or not. Try to improve the first sector maybe? If you can get Eau Rouge/Raidilon somewhat right, you should be able to do 43.3s in the first sector, that alone should get you to gold. Since it is the first sector, if you messed up, can just restart without spending too much time.

This is science-fiction for me, I wasn't able to do lower than 44.5s in the first sector

That last 15-mins I finally started to figure out that turn again - If I had 15 more mins this morning I would have had it! And the very end had to be the worst I took that double chicane all morning. Including all those restarts!! I even turned in well enough just dont know why I understeered so bad and then in panic hit throttle too fast spinning away my time - sighs

**Edit: On side note, I miss being a C rated driver lol. I did 21-races being C or lower and had 13-top 5 finished and 3-victories. Moved up to B rating and have done 8-races since with 0-top 5's! But 21-more to go until Platinum!

It is a trail and error thing....I spun out at Eau Rouge/Raidilon more times than I can count (sometime 5, 6 laps in a row)...eventually you will get a hang of how brave you can be.

It looks like in between the 2 turns, you hit the throttle just a smudge little bit too long, leading to a slight higher speed entering the 2nd turn 🥲

You're probably right as your driving skills are - obviously - better than mine :)

I do know Spa IRL and IG and I know that Eau Rouge is a very tricky/scary point with wet conditions. I only release the throttle just before turning to Raidillon and then, full gas to Les Combes. I do not brake here.

I tried with the wheel (albeit after a few drinks) and I really struggled with it, so I tried again the next evening with a controller and it was much easier. That said, I'm still a full 1s off a silver, so I may persevere with the wheel tonight, but I reckon it's just one of those tests that is beyond my skill set/patience to master.
