Well, how to put this... Had really bad feeling about this LC TT, but boy I was so wrong

This car is so much fun to drive, yes you need to brake early, yes the gear braking is bit weird.
BUT still, the way this car handles, must say that this is closer to real as its been in long time in this game.
(yes, yes, you need to abuse the gears when braking and I have newer driven C8)

Not sure if PD changed something in the physics, but the way you can catch small slides, well feels really real life to me.

Oh, btw @djolliea you need to find some pace mate! 1:30.179 atm. 👍

Wow, nice job  Was thinking the same about catching slides and how the car handles. Feels very natural.

I'll have more time this evening so let's see if I can catch you. ;)

Quite apt this week for those in London also doing the latest TT.

This game really needs some form of transmission damage. So many cars in this game require you to slam them down to 1st for a corner in order to be driven at their limits, and we all know how stupid that is.
Honestly even something simple would work. Temporary engine damage for over-revving like that would be all it takes. But it's silly that it's even a problem in a racing simulator of all things.

In terms of actual times, I pulled a 1:30.8 out the bag after a few laps - which should be enough to keep gold. It's actually quite alright to drive once you get used to it being a bit boaty, but the reliance on transmission exploding engine breaking is certainly silly.

This took me hours with my controller. For some reason I always messed up in some corner. I hope this will hold. I can’t believe some people did 1.30 and 1.29 with a joystick, but I have some of them in my friends list and they actually confirmed that they use the controller. Aliens 👽

Some horrid blisters on a couple of fingers means I’ve had to switch back to auto on the pad. Still managed to sneak into silver with the very nice Corvette.

Pretty pleased with that one - I don’t usually make the top 10K, especially in a road car.

Oh, I haven't seen this yet. Ugh, we're at Laguna again. I usually have trouble with this track. You gotta find a good line for that corkscrew and then at the sharp left turn before the finish line. The first U-turn kills my time too on any race/TT there. So, the Corvette is the car they provided for us, nice!

Definitely easier for me with the wheel, I had a hard time turning without hitting the curbs. With the wheel it's easy to either avoid them or simply go over them.
I would think it would be harder to use the wheel, especially trying to brake with the foot pedals. I have always used a controller/joystick over the past 2 decades.

I've been saying that for... well since a few months after the game came out. I've never driven a C8, or a GT3 car, or 99% of the other cars in this game, but I'd bet my next paycheck they won't even let you downshift them if it would harm the engine/transmission. These aren't mechanical manuals with a stick and clutch, they're essentially shift by wire flappy paddle cars. If you're sitting at 7k rpm in 3rd gear and hit the left paddle attempting 2nd, the real car will give you the finger and not do anything at all. It wouldn't downshift putting the engine at 9k, thus leaving parts and fluids all over the track. There are fail safes because, well, people are stupid.

The fact cars 'rotate' better when in lower gears has miffed me as well. Anyway, I digress.

First go here yielded a 31.7. No way that's safe long term. Good news is the car is actually fun to drive, even if the track isn't. I'll be revisiting for sure.

I never understood that myself. Like is the idea that the extra engine braking throws the weight forward putting more "gravity" into the tires? But braking already does that, and over braking your tires will just cause them to lose grip and slide if you're turning them anyway. But I've never driven a proper race car (or any car - outside of a go-kart) in anger so I never know if this was truly a thing or an in game mechanic.

This is game physics rather than real life. I think the mechanism that people are experiencing here is that the engine/trans is braking the rear tires so that the front tires can do less braking and more turning.

In real life the rotation comes from the weight transfer onto the front tires allowing the unweighted rear that is also now higher due to pitch to move around the vertical axis of the car (which has moved forwards due to pitch) - google “polar moment of inertia”.

I accidentally found an exploit on Laguna Seca last night. On my personal best lap, I went really wide on the exit of the last corner and used the tarmac runoff but the game didn't give me a penalty. I was WAY outside the white line for at least 5 seconds but I got to the line before the game made up it's mind. The result was a 1:31.315. I also did the time trial on Monza, which was a bit harder than I expected. I really struggled through Ascari but I still did enough to get into the gold bracket with a 1:47.017. Annoyingly, my brother set a faster time so I won't rest until I've beaten him.

Well, Leguna Seca is proving to be difficult for me. This evening I tried it for the first time and ended up spending three hours driving around and around, and this is all the best I can do. So close but so far. And I know gold time is going to move again. I’m aiming for a 1:31.6 I’m not there yet.

Here are some statistics for TT40 at Suzuka in Gr.2.

  • I am going on holiday tomorrow and won't be able to post results for the end of the Monza Ferrari TT next Thursday. When I'm back the Monday after, I'll post it, along with an update on the movie one.
  • @TumeK5 I know you asked not to be in, but taking individuals in or out for some events is more extra work than I'm prepared to do, so you're in. If you wish not to be, I'll take you out, but that will be a permanent out.

Drivers with gold in all TTs
The number of drivers with gold in all TTs to date remained at 119.

Interim Results for TT41 at Monza in the Ferarri 330 P4 '67.

This was a request to help people see how many places they're likely to gain by gaining a certain amount of time.

Love the stats and really appreciate the amount of work you do to keep them coming!
How can I opt in for the GTP leaderboard?

To those who like to chase muffin bottom

Automagic, controller, TC1. Look up lagunattauto or muffinbottom in showcase.

Can we all agree that this Muffin is insainly fast with AT and TC1?! ,
Your doing a real nice job mate!

That muffin decal on the rear window is hilarious, that deserves to be followed 🤣🤣
