A couple of nights ago I decided to hop into the Ferrari and gold the Catalunya TT, after trying many cars and sitting agonisingly close to the gold time - about 3 tenths clear, so happy days.

Last night I decided to put some effort into the RBR TT, seeing as I was approx. 0.5s off gold time and had been for a while. It took me 28 laps, a load of which I got down to less than a hundredth off gold time, until I finally, finally cracked it! Trouble is... I'm less than a hundredth into gold zone and not sure if the top time will hold... And I don't know if I've got the patience to make another attempt tonight, and I'm away later this week!

So question is: do we think the gold time is safe in the RBR time trial or are we likely to see a flurry of activity in the coming days seeing as it's been stagnant for so long??

But practise makes perfect ( altho.... we hope it's going to be perfect )
What is do notice is that the 911 is far more easy to drive imo compared to the GTR, it's worth a try!
Thanks, will give the 911 a try!

The problem I have with COD is well before execution.
When I approach that track section, let's say when I am at the marshal cage, I haven't yet determined what to aim for.
The orange barrier on the right appears when it's too late (at least for my reaction time). I haven't spotted yet something else to target.
As a result I go though it in read&react mode, and given my already mentioned reaction time you may well understand what the result may be.

I'd like to fix this item, so that I can focus on execution
Will still smash it, but at least trying to do the right thing, instead of trying to survive

The TT is on for so long that maybe most drivers already made their final times.
If nobody challenges De Bruin or get too close - I think we're done here.

At the marshal box, lift, turn in and aim at the orange barrier to the left. As soon as you turn the steering, you can start applying throttle (the amount is based on how brave you are). The car should understeer pass the barrier to the left. As soon as you see the right orange barrier, yank the steering to the right....keep the throttle pinned and aim to barely touch that barrier.

If done right, the curb would go under the car and the right wheel won't bounch off of it.

Well guys, it has come to the conclusion that I may not be able to gold this, I was hoping to do it but it's gonna take 6-7 hours of hard work and I don't know if I'm gonna have time. See I have a doctor appointment Thursday at around 4:30pm so I have to stay on schedule. I have to get a monthly B12 shot because of my autoimmune disorder. See we have found out that our apartment complex moved us into a moldy apartment, they did not put a drain in and the apartments flooded in 2015. We moved in October 2015, my health issues have progressed since May 2021. I'll explain more later. The very first right turn throws me off cause I can either go left(offtrack) or risk losing speed.

Sector 2 can be tricky, I think I'm taking too long to hit the throttle after I brake. Does anyone have a replay of an AT using a controller, I'm not a wheel user. The end can sometimes mess up my lap. Those sausage curbs are deadly. Someone please help me if you can!!

I found 6 tenths by using the Ferrari - was sitting four tenths off with the Jaguar, changed to the Ferrari and within four laps I'd smashed into gold three tenths clear. Give it a crack.

Ok, thanks. I don't think the Supra is the best recommended car either, don't know how the aliens can use those cars so fast with the MT.

Hi Chris, here's a video I just did for you - 1:44.878 (418th overall) using a controller, AT - in the Porsche 911.

The replay is also shared ingame under the tags ChrisGT and TTAT.

It's not the best lap by any means, I squirrelled up the last sector a bit, but hopefully enough to give you some guidance. I recommend the Porsche, it's very planted and doesn't require any tricks to maintain stability.

Hello everybody!

I'm new to the game, bought it 2 weeks ago.
First thing I wanted to do was learning the Nordschleife. So I chose the Go Kart 'cause I thought that's a good choice for learning the track.
I did a lot of rounds and got faster and faster. But, since there is no leaderboard, I have no idea how fast I really am. I may be slow as a snail and just think I'm fast;-)
So I wonder what is a reasonably fast time there? Best I got so far was 8:24.

And another question: When doing my rounds I realized that the Kart doesn't seem to have the same power all the time. There were rounds where I could use the 6th gear uphill but on other rounds (with same settings/gear ratios) I had to go with 5th 'cause the Kart was loosing speed in 6th gear. But I couldn't figure out why. Is this maybe connected to the time of day/air temperature?

Thanks, can't wait to try it.
Tinking back at what I wrote I also think that I'm narrowing my view when I'm into that section.
I start looking for the chicane after I look the cage.
Probabily the cage is big enough that I can manage with peripheral view, while already looking more ahead

Welcome to the madness!

The kart is probably the wrong car to learn the ring. Depends on your skill level, I would suggest a bone stock FWD like the Mini Cooper S or a Mazda MX-5 if you are comfortable with RWD. I know they are not the most exciting thing to hear, but they are great for beginners. Especially the MX-5...it really can teach you a thing or 2 about car control.

I'm asking myself the same question with Catalunya. I was only 4 tenths off the cut to gold so I decided to give it a try today despite my general dislike of the track and managed a 46.429. So gold secured, for now.

I don't have much confidence in the .04 seconds that's currently separating me from silver but then again not sure if I can muster the willpower to go for another run tomorrow. So here's for hoping!

As an aside I really can't stress enough how much following a top replay ghost has helped me to improve my laptimes. I decided to try without a ghost today and saw little to no improvement, but once I started following one it made an immediate difference.

When I said "learning the track" I really meant just the layout. Every vehicle is good enough for this but the Kart is just more fun than a MX5.
But you're absolutely right, for learning how to drive it's of course not the best 'cause it handles fundamentally different than a car.
For learning HOW to drive I currently use the stock Cayman GT4, one of my favorite cars ever. Not too slow, not too fast and rather easy to drive. Trying to beat the official 7:40 by Porsche Test Driver Timo Gluck. I try to keep everything as close to the real thing as possible. But there are ofc limits in this game, for example the choice of tyres. I know they used Michelin Cup 2 but what's that in game? Sport Medium? Sport Soft? Intermediates? Also Aero and Dampers, they may or may not have changed default settings here for their 7:40 round.

But that time should easily be doable with Sport Soft and default settings. I did 8:00 yesterday and I can't even count all the errors I made on this lap.

edit not even sure I'm posting in the correct thread here, this seems to be all about online time trials?

Very very little improvement today in Catalunya with 1'46'304 with Porsche 911.
Hoping that I could improve it again tomorrow with the Porsche because I would only have 3 hours free before going to work
Nice job mate, I have to get back to catalunya to sub 45, but I just have no motivation to do it, maby I will try tomorrow morning with the RSR instead of thr Ferrari, but I have seen Cata somany times that im kind of done with it, most of the time I go all in one week and then am done with it 🤣🤣

Quick unexpected 30min session after dinner.

Moved to 911 ( thanks @Gomario JSP ), tried the cod hints ( thanks @Evilmuffin )

Ideal improved by 2/10, personal improved by 5/10

Catalunya is winding down so I went back to try and drop from a 1:46.557 into gold territory currently at 1:46.470 but honestly how hard can it be?

Oh my, 2-1/2 hours of that awful chicane sausage almost got the best of me. I was so glad to finally drop to a 1:46.405 and gain another gold before it’s over.

GL to those who are still in the place I was just moments ago 🍀
Cheers 🍻

You are clearly fast and based on the input you're doing it on a pad which is amazing. But I can't help noticing that you're coasting a bit before braking in both turns 2 and 3, or is that due to replay lag i'm not aware of ? When I used a pad I always used the analog stick for throttle/braking which could lead to a bit of coasting whenever I brake. Is this the case with your situation?
Either way fantastic driving !
Thanks, man! A tiny bit of coasting there before applying the brakes, indeed. I'm using the triggers (L2 & R2) so no, not like the example you describe.

Catalunya. All about luck, luck, luck, luck, luck. Or maybe a skill issue on my part. A combo. So frustrating to have a beautifully flowing racing track that ends with an absolute trainwreck of a chicane. Akin to Goodwood in that sense. At least here we have the superior version that keeps the racing groove going without interruptions in the game, just a shame it had to be with the chicane this time (yes, I know that if that had been the case it would’ve been a 100% duplicate of a prior TT).

1’44.444 would’ve been a cool time to end on but there was still some obvious time to pick up. I moved from the 458 to the Huracán which I like a lot, it feels great. Think I’ll give the 911 a spin tomorrow as well. Maybe the 650S as well if I find the time, just don’t want to throw in too many parameters and changes with so little time left.

I did start a lap on Catalunya with the RSR but after i did hit the sausage wrong twice i did quit, done with it, i'm somwhere in the placing 6xx and i'm fine with it, case closed

So......1 hour of blasting the 911 around the Trail, the placebo discussion did it's trick on me, i felt some sessions i had already trouble rotating in on T1 in second gear before the lap starts, and some sessions it felt far more easy......so i went hotlapping on the easy ones, i know.... brianfart....idoit.....placebo....but he......felt good, that's what counts :lol:

Let me start of with saying that spinning out isn't always a bad thing...., i never noticed the cruisship on T1

Fairly spaceious thru the chicane so def left some time there but we all know the feeling........ but if i nailed it like i sometimes do ( when S1 and S2 are very bad haha ) it would have been a sub 38 for sure. but we are a little closer :lol:

1:38.156

Tried the '16 AMG for DTS and did a new best time, I've now done:
Supra GT500 1:40.6
Nissan GTR 1:40.0
Porsche 911 1:39.8
'16 AMG 1:39.5

I was heading for around the gold cutoff with the 1:39.5 lap, but had a tiny loss of traction accelerating out of the final corner, and lost 3 tenths from there to the finish line as a result. Optimal with the AMG was 1:39.0, so a gold time seems within reach. I found the AMG by far the best of the cars I've tried so far for the CoD.

I've tried a few of my favorites and that AMG is awesome. I did set my fastest time with the M6 endurance and I'm still not in gold yet but I'm only 7 tenths away so I feel like I can get it. Nice consistency between cars for you though.

Yeah - this thread is about the time trials really.

Circuit experience is the best way of learning a track like the 'ring. You will be in a Gr3 BMW, which is much faster than the kart, but the track is broken down into small sections which you can go over again and again until you get the hang of it. If you get gold in the sections and then the full, then you have nailed it - but it s quite a challenge when you are new to the game.

As well as that, I learnt the 'ring like you in a slower car (Suzuki Swift), which was great for getting a feel of the place before then stepping into a faster car.

There is a special time trial for the Honda Civic Type R ‘22 coming up. Depending on your age group, beating the fastest real-life record for a FF car at Suzuka (ages 17 and under) or Nürburgring Nordschleife (ages 18 and over) will earn you a certificate.

At first I would yell....what? Again a Honda around the Nordschleife (altho for me at the old 41 🤣) but maby it's nice to hunt for that real time! And this is my first Green hell challenge on the PS5, bring it on

I couldn't care less for the certificate but thr challenge seems cool for me 😁

Nürburgring bronze here I come! 😂 (Maybe silver will be doable.) Nice free livery as well.

Edit.

Did a TT test with the 2015 and 2020 and my results was 8:05.xxx, 7:44.xxx is the time to beat... hope it will be enough for bronze at least... :scared:

Did my usual 2 TT's to gold today, didn't check leaderboards for what is META. Just picked something I felt could fit the track.

I just earned silver in the Barcelona TT using Nebu's guide on Youtube, it helped me figure out where to brake and turn for each obstacle at the track. So far I'm down to a 1'48.425 time, I'm gonna keep pushing for gold!

Edit: Improved my time to 1'48.184. Lol, funny time. Well this may be all I can do here, I wish I had more time to strive for gold, but my health and family comes first. We have to have a roof over our head so I have to help my mom as much as possible.
