Seconds off the pace is still silver, keep trying.
At that moment, it’s a lot of seconds. Optimum is still 2 off silver. Losing so much in sector 1, and the hairpin on a pad is a nightmare. Then I finally manage a decent run and blow it at the final chicane.

Protecting my sanity and moving on.

Your call mate.

Finally got down to a 142.8, which was top 1000 as of yesterday. I had been sitting on a 1.43.2 that I got after just a few hours. Didnt want aliens bumping me off that gold , so probably spent an equal amount of time struggling for this new time.

Some tips that really helped me. Watching kie25s video as the basis for what gears when, etc. one thing i notice is that you really got to wrestle this thing through its understeer to get good laptimes. So in other words, expect to apply more steering input than you would in other cars like a gr3. Also apply throttle a little earlier than you might naturally. Remember this engine takes a bit to spool the turbo and get into its powerband. Good luck to everyone still working on this one, its the toughest yet.

Ran my first extended session today. 1 hour of TT and I managed to drop into the top 400 with a 42.3xx. I know I could get to high 41s if I could string everything together, but top of my friends list and 5th in Australia will probably be enough for me I think.

The take home message is that Gallo is superhuman. I can just about match him through the first sector, but after that he is simply in another universe.

I don't see myself getting past Bronze for this one. With these faster cars, the skill gap is just too great between the aliens and the average players compared to a Gr. 4 or Gr. 3 time trial.

I have it on good authority that if we ever get a Tomahawk time trial (god forbid), the majority wouldn't even be able to reach Bronze.

Whoa😮 Gallo's been beat! Wasn't expecting that to be honest. Kudos to HRG_RK23!

In the meantime, I bettered my gold time with my ds4. I'm now at 1:42.506 - and it places me exactly 500th on the leaderboard as I write this. My hands and fingers are definitely starting to feel that one, as I don't think I've ever pushed that much before LOL:irked:

Nice lap @GTWolverine
I'm still only at 1:43.15 with about.4 or .5 improvement possible if I get it all sorted, but had a wry smile when I saw you do 3 to 5 out of the hairpin as I started doing that yesterday. Just thought there was more value in that double shift than in 4 to 6 in that situation.
I'd actually been doing the 3-5 shift all week, as I felt it was faster than 4 to 6 out of the hairpin because you don't hold 6th gear for very long there, so I thought there wouldn't be much time to benefit from the double shift there. I accidentally confirmed it on one of my failed attempts yesterday when the game failed to register the 3-5 double shift (I guess I did it too quickly), so ended up doing 4-6 and watched my ghost drive away from me before Spoon.

Quicker again at the top

I think I've gotten the hang of this "double-shifting" thing, because I've finally broken into silver range! I think I'm deep enough into it that I'll be able to secure another 1m credits this Thursday without needing to set an even faster time.

Argh!! 1:43.301. Time will tell if I am happy with this time or not.

If I don't improve in my final session tomorrow night, then I'll be (sort of) okay with it. I would have been beyond frustrated if the aliens didn't decide to slap us in the face and I lost out on the old gold time by only .002 seconds.

If I do improve, but not enough for new gold, then I'll be extra upset.

I wish I could put one solid, clean lap together. Just one! I lost at least two chances for gold when my car started to get slidey on the right after the final chicane and my attempts to correct it sent me off into the grass on the left each time. The other attempt I thought may end in gold, I found myself putting one tire ever so slightly into the bright green in between the Spoon corners and slid off.

sigh One more chance tomorrow.

For the final turn I always have a momentary little lift before the end of the rumble strip - whether I've started to slide or not. Either that or you can use 4th and full throttle - it's not quite as quick but 0 chance of wheelspin.

The old top time also has a tiny lift at this point.

Just to get you across the line if you're on for a gold time!

Did one final session and after about 30 laps, dropped my time to 1:42.291. Decided this is my limit for this one.

Jumped into the Alt to get the $2m for that account, 1:42.233 first lap! :banghead: I guess Canadians get some sort of time bonus…:D
I've found that when switching to the alt sometimes. Instantly slam in another tenth or some faster time. I gotta believe it's the refresh time while switching accounts letting you de-stress

I normally do lift for a split second. I guess I just didn't blip the throttle enough those two instances, and it cost me. :grumpy:
snc
Coyote now p1 with 1:40.184 👀
Crap. What's the new gold time? I may not even bother getting on tonight if it's low enough.

Edit: And in the time it takes me to log on, Gallo puts up a 1:40.018. 🤬 I'm only giving it a few laps. No way am I picking up 3 tenths.
