Joined the Honda Certificate club with a 7:44.265 placing me 388th currently.

Although I was happy with the lap, there was an optimum of 7:43.180, so there's still plenty of time left on the track to gain. This session was filled with plenty of invalidated laps from going off track, a problem I was not having previously. I might continue trying to get into the 7:43s but with no reward for doing so, there's no guarantees.

The Road Atlanta in Group 1's has been a major struggle for me. My current best time is a 1:05.791 which places me 2,214th. I'm not even sure this time is safe for a gold. I just cannot figure out the first sector. T2 being blind is causing problems which then flows through the rest of the sector. Having to spend every 2nd lap recharging the battery is not helping with trying to find any flow either. I will be giving this another go, but not because I particularly want to, but because I'm worried I'll slip out of gold.

Not looking forward to the Lamborghini around St Croix either, not a car I'm familiar with or a track I'm particularly fast around. Sports Soft seems like a step to low for tyres on such a high powered car as well. :scared:

Congrats on the certificate, PD, another one please 👍 👍

1:05.7 on RA woiuld be safe if you ask me, if you look at the top times they can't find that much time, should be well ok,
i'm at 5.7 too and god i hope i'm not having to go back

For st Croix i have no idea what PD is going to deliver here, the car doesnt turn on any tire, but he.... maby it drives like a charm and we fall in love with VGT.....
Not realy looking forward to it either, altho i have had it with the 4 tials right now

Did run Tsukuba one more time this morning, went all 3th gear cornering, wasn't realy feeling it and was more of a time killing things than pushing, still surprised i did set my pb , but glad it's almost over :lol:

  • Excellent participation rate, around average to get gold, but quite difficult to get no reward.

@half_sourly: thank you again for your effort!

@ all silver class drivers at GTP: please register for the leaderboard! Tsukuba gave me gold within Top 9.000 worldwide and only fortysomething in the GTP-board. I know I wouldn't be rising but at least I won't appear near the end with this nice result... 🥴

@ all gold guys: congratulations! Really impressive!

😅 when I saw the new Tsukuba WR I got palpitations.
Luckly for me the gold is still there

it's my 8th gold, and 6th time I'm in the top 10% drivers.

I'm pretty happy about my progression, which is showing a slow improvement in terms of results and km needed to achieve them.
When the feelings I have while driving are somehow confirmed by results is really energizing.

I think I deserve a grade update from "Sunday driver going to the grocery store" to "Sunday driver going to the grocery store a bit faster"

Damn it. 0.7%. Knew I should've checked last night to see if I'd been bumped out of Civic Silver.

EDIT - Extra damn it - it was actually 0.07%. 0.042s.

Ouch! Been there, done that!

Wow. I checked the times yesterday and they were still in the 1.00:2xx. I just had to manually check whether I'll have a gold when I get home tonight, and I think I'm inside by a tenth. I make the cut-off for gold at 1.01:965.

It doesn't. Aggressive engine braking required, but time the shift - don't just bang it into second like you had to with the Corvette.

2nd gear into hard braking areas, 3rd gear is your friend for exits. Be patient on exit as the understeer is severe and I've chucked away a dozen laps being greedy in the last two corners. I got down to a 2:00.2xx pretty quickly. Hopefully I won't need to go back.

Still looking for around 3 seconds on the green hell......

I just came here to say, this Lambo is the worst car I've ever driven. The understeer is frustrating, I have no idea how a car can just refuse to turn like that, it doesn't feel right.
ok........., so my worst nightmare became true lol.
it doesn't drive any better under Bop i understand from these comments haha.....,
i'm going to try lapping it tonight, but yeeeejjjj....., i can't wait ... :irked:

Damn, I knew 0.013 was too tight a margin to hang in for gold! Narrowly missed out at Tsukuba...
Me too. I can't say I'm surprised, but would've been nice for that other million.

Considering my time was set in maybe 15-20 laps, I'm not too broken up. I can see this hurting more if someone spent a lot of time and had Gold spoiled for them on the last day.

So glad I didn't have to go back to that Civic one. The understeer on that car was ridiculous. Like, I don't even get how a car can go so straight when you give 5% throttle. Golded regardless. Hopefully the Lambo one is better, but I have my doubts.

Be patient on exit as the understeer is severe...

Darn... :irked:

I might not even do this one, rather go back to the Ring as I was recently pushed out of gold. I always intended to go back once Saturday's Manu was over. We shall see.

Same thing, that late last top time drop to 1.00.160 knocked me out of silver by a smidge. Ah well.

I quite enjoyed this combo this morning! Kept playing a little longer than I should haha! But got interrupted by a delivery so left it at 1:58.1, wanted the 57 so much can see it to!

First things first, this is tongue in cheek and I love your work, especially this series, which helped me tremendously. Anyone struggling to get golds consistently, or just wants to improve their SIM driving skills, would do well to work through that driving school series.

Now then, about those predictions... :)

I've taken the liberty of analysing your performance where I could find you did TT guides;
  • With the exception of Mount Panorama, you've always been correct within 1%
  • You always under-estimate the gold time (i.e., the gold time ends up lower than your prediction)
  • On average you under-estimate by 0.37%, but at shorter tracks (0.29%) you do better than at longer tracks (0.62%).
Road Atlanta times have gone down a fair bit and you are out by 0.49% to date; unusually large gap for a short track.

Key takeaways:
  • Think about docking about a third of a percentage point off your predictions.
  • Using the data - albeit the Road Atlanta outlier throws a small spanner in the works - I reckon the "St. Croissant" gold time is likely to be around 2:00.250.

I actually like the combo. Time Trial shouldn't be easy and it's definitely easier than S-10 license! Better acceleration behaviour than the Garage RCR Civic and the track is challenging yet still has a flow.

To the people not liking the combination: what throws you off?

It doesn't brake and it doesn't turn on a track that is both entirely slow corners and fast flowing corners. It's a slog for the entire lap. Miserable TT, get them out the kitchen.
