Evening again all! Well I’ve done over 400 miles today… oops! I revisited the Lambo VGT that gave me absolutely no good vibes when I first dipped my toes into it yesterday… Well. Once you get over the ridiculous tyre choice (again!) there is method to the PD madness! This is actually quite fun! I think it’s another one of those trials where you need to ‘over-steer’ the car (turn the wheel more than necessary and power understeer through a turn) although it’s less obvious than other trials.. seems to be a common feature of high powered cars on budget tyres. Handy if you are on a wheel or a madman like @Barareklam waving his controller in midair and setting unbelievable times 😂😂. Not so good on a controller where your steering angle is limited by PD (cough time to get a wheel @Gomario JSP cough!)

In a way, I enjoy it more than Gr1 Road Atlanta as that trial relies on just a millisecond timing for turning in at turn 3 to set a truly fast time; more luck than judgement and pretty one dimensional… Plenty of time left on the table here anyway! Goal is sub 1:59…

Back to my spiritual home.. I absolutely got stuck in a rut today, a few very fast laps binned on the very final corner, very frustrating! I ended up on an incredibly fast lap just as I was about to give up.. slight mistake before brünnchen and a big mistake at Pflanzgarten robbed me of my magical time but it’s a new PB nonetheless. I’m sure I’m not the only one but I really rag this car to the redline like it’s an old school VTEC! Ridiculous how it takes almost every kerb that is usually death in GT7 (and real life..) but I’ll take it!

@Dolph Drago that is indeed close mate, it's just a weird one, and I have not got the real motivation to grind it, it feels like I am missing so much input, the one thing I did different this morning was trying to be less agressive, but the full lock and stomping the throttle for rotation just isn't working on controller for me, but the could be me ofcourse.

@Dan_Tes

First of all, good to have you back here, altho not for the time on the leaderboard but that aside 🤣
Your laptimes on the Ring are getting epic mate, 42.9 is absolutely insane, well done!
I haven't tried it again, I'm sure I can lower but time ...... time... 🤣

Croix.... yeah.... maby you are right, altho it feels like you are right because I can't get in any way I try the rotation that the topguys get, it feels limited, but it feel way more limited than on other trials so that makes me think it is just me instead of the wheel/controller difference, but it's a real b*tch for me, feels heavy, oversteery and not rotatable... but we have to deal with it.
Daughter is 20 and still living with us, so no room for mancave yet 🤣

@Barareklam that is a great achievement mate!, I stil dont know how you manage to even get a clean lap motionsteering, let alone post these insane times, congrats!

A bit les agressive approach gave me a slightly better time, still don't like it .....
but gold secured 😁

Thought I'd try and give Gr1 a go again as there's not long left. Tried the cars the aliens use, the Audi VGT and the 919 Hybrid. I was even slower! My PB was in the Jag, and I couldn't get within 5 second of that either!
Mystery.... I have off-days but not that bad.
Checked settings all looked OK, then I actually looked at the screen display for throttle input - It's 100% for the 3 seconds at the start, then it drops to about 60% even though the accelerator is pressed hard down.
No idea how long it's been happening, but likely fairly recent.
I need to do some googling to see if it can be fixed...... it is nearly 6 years old so may be on its last legs..... 🥹

Hey guys I know I'm being offtopic a little but is anyone else playing GT sport, I made this forum if you're interested. I'm pretty much done with the Michelin Raceway Gr. 1 time challenge. I did not have fun with it, too many tricky turns and corners.

Have you tried looking at the pedal calibration settings in the game. I had a similar thing with only partial throttle being applied and/or the ABS triggering (false brake inputs)

In the calibration settings I added a fraction more minimum input to both and also lowered the amount of force/pedal travel to 98% and that seemed to cure it for me.

I would start by changing your accelerator and brake to L2 and R2 and use square and X for your gears, you get much more play with throttle and brake through the triggers.

Do you use motion steering or left stick?
If you are going to stick with the buttons for brake and accelerate. I'd recommend using R1/L1 as they don't have the amount of travel so are quicker to use than a trigger for gears.

@Chris30

I agree with @P-Courty ... I don't use the pad often. But that type of set up makes the most sense to me and is easiest to adapt to from playing AT for GT2-GT6.

R2: Accelerate
L2: Brake
X: Gear up/down
Square: Gear up/down
Steer: Left stick

Using the accelerator and brake with the triggers allows for partial application of both instead of 100% all the time. Good for trail braking or slowly applying throttle on exits which will help as you try to reduce your reliance on TC.

Agreed, @Chris30 we all have our little techniques but if you can learn the most beneficial technique and keep it it'll benefit in the long run even if it doesn't feel quite right at first; Learning MT is a great way of going quicker as it gives you way more control and on certain track/car combos can be worth 1-2+ seconds per lap. Having gear changes on X/square frees your other fingers for more deft control of accel/brake on R2/L2 and once you get used to it, it feels more natural than changing gear with L1 and R1 which can get clumsy.

As for tips for MT.. watch replays as always and experiment. I watch replays of the fastest guys to see where people shift, some cars need to be revved to the limit and others shift earlier/double shift. You can also experiment if you are doing lots of laps back to back as the green/red split time comparison with your previous laps can show you where shifting at different times can make/lose you time; I regularly do this on tracks where it's not clear whether to shift up a gear or just rev the nuts off the current gear is more useful (current example is Nurburgring/Civic Type R, I rev the nuts off it in 3rd gear where a lot of the faster guys are in 4th gear at very low speeds... Also coming up to Schwedenkreuz I stay in 5th even though I hit the limiter before turning, gives me better control/speed entering the turn).

It takes practice but feels so good when you are used to it. Expect it to be difficult at first but eventually it becomes second nature!! Good luck!

L2: gear down
R2: gear up
X: accelerate
Square: Brake
I use the same controls. I ran automatic for years and years, but I've been able to adapt to manual after switching over to it last October. It will eventually feel completely natural to you after a couple of weeks I'd say.

Switching to L2 and R2 for accelerating and braking and X and Square for shifting is something I still haven't tried, even if it is faster according to pretty much everyone here who uses that method. All I know is blipping the throttle with X like I usually do in most cars absolutely does NOT work in the Lambo. Instead that understeer magnifies tremendously.

So, in short, this post was probably not helpful to you in any way whatsoever. Sorry!

Was out working last night and got home at 4:30am, got woke up for another job that needed doing at 9:15am so have been rather tired today.

When I got back I switched on GTA and then The Crew Motorfest to play something without having to put effort into.

I then fell down the slippery slope of switching to GT7 in the afternoon 😅

I stayed on the DS4 again today as couldn't be bothered to set up the rig and fight with the wheel.

Made a livery, done daily race A (again something to not have to put effort into) and then into the TT.

After reading that the Lambo is like the Bathurst TT I avoided it. Looked at the Nurb and thought I'll leave that for another day when I'm more awake, currently bronze so at least that's something.

Jumped into the Gr1 and off I went...

Started with the Hyundai and couldn't even put a lap together as it understeers so badly.

Jumped in the Peugeot VGT and that was great for a smooth driving style but could only manage 1:09.xxx from it.

Tried the Audi VGT and got 1:08, then 1:07.8xx and couldn't get any quicker.

Finally got the meta 919 and got 1.07.2xx and thought I will get a safe silver. Got to 1.06.891 after around 6 laps with it and thought I'd call it a day... Until I saw @Gorefast was a few tenths ahead and so I went again for another lap...

I won't have time improve this any more as away for work again this week so @Gorefast time to get your racing shoes on before it ends 😜

2.02.17x with the lambo, and 2.01.15x in the belt as ideal.
Looking at @Tidgney really helped a lot, particullary to identify references that my eyes saw but my brain didn't pay attention before. Great stuff to help us humans.

This is my lap

Lot of stuff to improve. The last turn I'm far from perfect but in this pb lap it really sucks.
Another place where I'm struggling is the back straight.
Most of the times it ends up like this if i go 100% on the brakes

In the pb lap i managed to use a bit of trottle to stabilize the braking actions, but I don't like it, i fell i'm loosing a lot there

You more or less has the right idea on how to run this car track combo. Just need to be braver with releasing the brakes ealier...which will allow to you to apply throttle earlier. Try brake a tiny little bit earlier and work on release the brake gently during trail braking. If you are able to release the brakes completely before hitting the apex....then you can start applying some maintenance throttle to keep your minimum apex speed up which will help your exit speed by a huge amount.

Just improved my PB for another 10th....back to the top 100!

Messed up the final corner slightly.....could've been a 1:58.5s :/

Right, 6 AM it is, feed the kittens so they crash down on the sofa and try to get the feeling for the Croix....
I said i would run, and when i said it, i realy ment it
So, back on the sadle, back in the lovely VGT...:mischievous: and back preventing collisions and invalidations....while taking care of the Dualsense stick...., i intent to cramp up more when a car has a lot of understeer, the damn thing just won't turn when i want it to do

I learned a few things this morning,

A: when you miss a lot of apexes, keep going, could wel be your fastest lap
B: don't try to be too fast, it's better to be a little slower corner in so you can power out better than the other way around.
C: I'll never buy a Lamborghini VGT....
D: I still hate it

That said, i found a little more time and went from 1:59.8xx to 1:59.323 while it was kind of a messy lap,
i mist somany apexes, i mist one of the most importent ones.... T10 and let's not look at the very last corner....
So there is a LOT more time in it, but it didn't came this morning :lol:
