My final run at Willow Springs resulted in a 0.2 sec improvement. Very happy about that. I have a feeling I could have done even better because I just started getting similar lap times more consistently, but I'm not going to spend the whole night on this. Top 10 would've been nice but this is close enough. On to the next one.

I have finally gotten a PS5 and GT7 on Monday but only had time for a quick first race. I might have spent an irresponsible amount of time on the game since Tuesday. Unlocked Sport Mode and tried Willow Springs. Thought it was hopeless. Didn't even get into silver and crashing pretty much every lap.

After playing GT5 on PS3 with a Dualshock for the last few months this feels like a totally different game. Both the physics but also the triggers on the dualsense are so much more nuanced. I can actually feel the car. But it is necessary too because the physics are much less forgiving. No more lock to lock steering and smashing brakes and throttle. I love it.

Today I watched some lap guides and put about 600 km into Willow Springs. I got more and more consistent. My inputs became more and more precise. Less and less crashing or losing the rear.

Then it finally happened. Barely got into Gold. For good measure I managed to improve a bit a few laps later. As long as L-Shooter doesn't wreak havoc tonight I should be safe.

This site in general but the usual suspects in this thread in particular make this such a great community. I hope that I can become a valuable contributor from now on.

Btw: Does anybody know whether it is possible to change my in game language to English?

You can change the system language on your console. That's what I do. English is not my 1st idiom.

Change it to Japanese to slash off sum 5secs off ya laptimes, we all know this....lol.

Spent a lot of time on Willow Springs the last few days, testing quite a lot of cars, including the obvious BRZ, but no improvement.
BRZ kills the long corners, but for me fails in those going uphill and downhill in mid-track (just wants to snap on me). Those cars that do well in the hill section keep on loosing time in the last sweeper.

Oh well, there's not always Daytona. So my time with Renault on the first day stands.
The closest I got to it was in this session with orange 650S (surprisingly good car around this track):

Well done. I tried tonight as well and have already sacrificed a few hours of sleep but I couldn’t make it happen. Budweiser Balcony being the main culprit and reason why, I really struggled to nail the exit there. The dip into the sand with the consequent left as well as the final turn were not really a problem. But that Balcony, man...

Kinda bummed as I think this was most likely my best opportunity for a top 10 with it being my most loved combination in GT and it was so, so close. That said, I gave it my all and it’ll be a clear PB improvement.

I can do this, but given we have around 100 players I will do it only where someone directly asks me for it.

Is this the sort of thing you had in mind?

I would love mine if possible. If not, no biggie. Broad Bean will stick out like a sore thumb for sure, though.

Meanwhile, I was one of those that didn't improve tonight at Willow. I could not string together a full lap. To start, turn 1 was an issue, but the final corner was also being its usual pain in the butt. It took over 60 miles before I finally got turn 1 working and was able to break the 1:11 barrier again. Frustratingly, I had a lap with a 48.2 split at the end sector 2 only to completely blow the last turn. :banghead:

On to the next TT. And another week to improve at the Glen.

Gave the Big Willow a final try and improved my time by 0.008 :grumpy:, now at a 1:11.913, placing me 261st, with an optimal of 1:11.798. Not to mention it took me almost 200km to get that time back. Not sure how I set the original 1:11.920 so quickly with a 1:11.6XX, must've been a fluke since its taken me so many laps to even get back to that level.

Also set my first competitive time around Watkins Glen in the Alpine. Managed a 1:20.889 which places me 430th currently. I'm sure there's still some time in this lap as I haven't quite figured out how to slide the car through corners yet. Will probably come back to this one later, depending on what the next trial is.

I have been home for few days now, sick with high fever and everything that comes with it. No so much energy to focus on current two TTs.
Willow Springs is ending so I made myself push a bit last evening. What I wanted to say and ask quick controller aliens, @NAXEHT, @Gomario JSP @Evilmuffin ... you that are on first page in one of these two current TTs, what are your settings on controller, for ABS and steering sensitivity? I am asking because I had ABS on week and steering sensitivity on 10, and since Willow Springs is ending tonight, wifey asked me to get her gold, and when I play on her account I sense BRZ turns easier, and her settings are ABS default and steering sensitivity 3.

Got OK time, if I would put some more effort I could improve a bit, but this is also good, I believe.

ABS week....and a wheel user...so can't help you with sensitivity settings. You actually have a better than me at the Big Willow.

Also check your force feedback settings, people say they don't make a difference on controller but they do, you can feel resistance change on a FFB wheel but on the controller you don't have resistance but you can feel the difference it in the corners from turn in and stability when on the limit.

I tried these after the first time I tried the Civic license test at Tokyo when I got the game as I couldn't get gold, so I started to test these settings.

The settings make a difference with the controller when you are taking high speed and low speed corners, after changing these to my liking I golded it no problem.

You will also notice the difference in high downforce cars (LMP1 and Tomohawk) which some people say are too sensitive or undrivable on controller.

I have ABS weak most of the time now with motion sensor steering, can't remember what my other settings are, will check when next online.

5 AM..... Beep...beep...beep

it's busstop time!!, changed my approach on it by taking it a lot more reserved, no throttle input mid busstop ( which i normally do ?!?) and just try to get that sector a bit mind muscle memorised.
first 30 minutes i didn't even hit the 20's so almost gave up but continued and had a window of i think 20 minutes with 9/10 laps in the .6xx. but all slower that the 608 PB.
But there it was!, into the 5xx's! placed 41!
My highest placement ( and i hope this will survive the eternal 72

The worst thing is that i stuffed up the last turn like i always do, so there is even more time in it, i had a normal S1 but had fire on S2, but a sluggish S3..

But happy for now :)

I saw a few replays of the fastest times in the leaderboard. I noticed those users/drivers are able to brake later & more efficiently enough to make the corner. I'm aware of engine braking but I do that as well.

What else could be doing I wonder! At times, I try my laps with TC1 & Weak Countersteering to see if it makes a difference but I wonder if having these 'On' negates your braking power.

I loved the Idea of American GT3 at Big Willow and kinda liked the Ford LM and the Corvette (golded the CE). But in the end I hadn't enough time to evolve but went straight to the BRZ. There is 0.5 seconds left to my optimum but unfortunately I'm afraid that I won't return before the weekend.

Out of a sudden there was half of an hour yesterday to return to Big Willow. I was quite rusty and could only slightly improve into gold zone (1:13:230). After one hour (...) and a growing number of red laps I decided to let it be. As usual I saved my fastest lap - and saw that this one wasn't recognised by the GT servers! Still in silver with +3,11% I gave this combo one last try.

I was tired and a little bit upset but felt somehow like Lewis Hamilton before his final QL... With a perfect turn-in at the first corner I got confident to improve for a gold lap and was only afraid that I could overshoot. A wide entry into the esses gave me a good exit speed and it felt even more like Lewis... 😉 The last corner was also great and I crossed the line with a new personal best which felt like optimum. I was very pleased and Lewis did it again! 😃

Sorry for this long posting but you are the only ones who can feel this... 🏁

Happy my gold stuck at Willow Springs, but I'll need to log on to check my finishing spot. And I think I'm still clinging on to gold at Watkins Glen, so happy days!! I'm unsure how the Bug at Kyoto will be, but with my track record for high-downforce cars I think I may sit this one out (or at least settle for silver).

These will be my last TT's for a whlie - I'm flying to the other side of the world (literally) for a month so I'll be back in January to have a go at whatever TT's are running then! I'll still keep popping by here occasionally to see how you guys and aliens are getting on and see what TT fun I'm missing out on.

I'm really happy with my result in Willow Springs with a time of 1'12'148. I managed to have my best world ranking with 644th place !!! 🥳🥳
Now I'm going to focus on Watkins Glen and try to go under 1'21 to improve my time of 1'21'071.
And attack this new TT with the most beautiful French car, the Bugatti and with the new PS5 slim console that I'm going to pick up tomorrow !!!!

Gold for a corner of pinky nail at the Glenn.

I was convinced I was losing a lot in the second section, and the numbers confirmed that.

S1 +0,295s
S2 +1,205s
S3 +0,301s

Analyzing my microsectors I see that I brake way too early (but I do it because if I brake later I can't hold it), I'm scared in the second part of the bus stop, because many times the car jumps off me at the last curb, and I also don't brake well between the exit of the bus stop and the I Love NY box

I would like to lower it a little more, but it may not be so trivial as I don't think it's just a bravery issue.

Here is my lap, if you like to give me some advice. Thanks
