Don't you think that practice could explain a lot more why you've done better times ?
I've put more time in at Spa! I've put better (rested and ready) time in here. I'm generally much faster in high pp cars. I feel the nuance more. I wish I had a moment to spend in the next few days to test the theory whether I'm faster with or without. I'm pretty fast with. 😂

It takes a lot of time to replicate those guys. I'm 4000 hours in on this version of GT and I can't catch them!

But the silver lining is you get faster each time you try, and that's what drags you up the leaderboard. Realising where you are slow and fast.

And this is the beauty of a time trial you get to practice and perfect :)
Yeah it’s addictive!

I think I’m 250 hours in so I’ve got time to catch up!

Thank you for the info, but I think I'll pass on Spa, at least I'll be earning 250k more credits, that's better than what I started with. I usually have my TCS set to 1-2, so it won't affect my exit speeds. That's what's been happening to me, I can't set fast lap records like I want to.

Errr

Ummmm

Errrrr

It does, will and is designed to do exactly that.

It's very primitive in GT in that it purely cuts power, it doesn't factor ABS or Axel and if it does I'd be very very surprised.

Let me say something in a different way.

Driving a car with (mostly) full control builds ability and comfort, you start to play or (not fear the car with no TC) you learn to go smoother, you learn to see people on the radar, you learn to go side by side, you learn to go fast and also think about total race time.

So yes the controls are there to use and people can be hugely fast with them, but think long game here....it's just a bit of refinement and a few spinning laps until you get used to it....you can do it mate

After few days of stagnation, I made it this evening, I entered 52s zone with 1:52.920!

Now it was good first and last sector, with mistake at "carousel".

Now I can in peace wait for new TT, after early morning one more attempt, or maybe Spa visit...

Enjoying this TT and down to a 1:52.39 now.

I found putting my controller sensitivity down really helped my lap times. It’s at the minimum and I think it avoids some understeer.

First few corners are by far the hardest for me. I only get below a 31s sector every 5 laps or so. Just can’t seem to replicate the quick guys.
FWIW, I found I needed to go slower to go faster, and spent time focusing on the speed on the left before the tunnel, and then optimizing the line through tunnel #1 cleanly. That, for me, was where I was losing time, which meant taking it a little easier in turns 1 & 2.

Completely lost my Mustang mojo with these TTs. Closer to bronze than gold around the mountain, and absolutely hopeless in the Alfa (as usual with road cars).

Constant invalidated laps, I think I had one clean in an hour.

But hey, I got a 6 star lottery ticket out of all that frustration.

Nice.
I was just checking them out in the valuation service. Price has skyrocketed and they're up to 1.7 mil creds. Sell if you have multiple! 👌

Finally, after numerous sessions with no improvement!
Not the nicest of laps, caught by my ghost at the final chicane, but good exit out of it made this result.
SpaTT-Alfa-almost3.jpg

I've got my optimals as low as 40.5 and given more time I'd grind it some more (what a pleasure to drive that little Alfa), but I cannot be unsatisfied with a time under 2:41 (and gotta go to sleep).

It's a damn good time and I'm proud of it.

After a couple of sessions, and about 200 miles, I have been able to get under 1:53 with a 1:52.882 at the Trial Mtn Time Trial with the Supra::)

This TT is pretty tough, but it sure is fun pushing this hard to stay with a downloaded ghost.
About half of the laps that I ran turned red waaaay before the end of the lap.:grumpy:
I'm not losing much time in the final chicane, but it sure is awkward getting thru it.:yuck:
Good luck everyone!

Im going to have to let the chips fall where they may on this one. I wanted to solidify a gold time but the track limits are destroying me and I’m okay with that. This is the challenge, but it’s not the type of challenge I enjoy doing laps. I end up restarting after almost every infraction.

So after more than 10 restarts just for T1 then another 20 to get through Eau Rouge only to get a possible better result I end up with track limit infractions at multiple points later.

I enjoy this game and need to keep it fun on my terms.

also, anyone in this thread please feel free to add me to your ps fl. Just mention GTP TT. Very good times everyone!
also, also, Im only an average Dude. Like literally average 🤣

It's crazy to see my PSN where it is on your board lol. Mine has a few above me... 😁

20 lap run tonight in the Supra. Lap 13 was money, but lap 14 I was up in sector 3 by over a tenth but put it on the grass out of the tight left after running wide at the apex. There’s more to come given that and a pretty average T1 on my fast lap. Still pleased to improve my PB by over a tenth and pick up some places on the leaderboard.

Back to you @GlockPants Sir! 👍

I often wonder how much of a difference some of the more subtle settings (Assist and Controller settings) have on lap times.

...
interesting discussion, and interesting timing, as I was reasoning to myself yesterday about trying to take off the countersteer assist, just to see what effect it has.

I don't think there is a right answer, we often tend to answer from what our own goals, feelings and abilities are, but of course we are not all the same.

The short answer for me would be that whatever setting takes you in the direction of achieving your goals is the right one. Maybe it's worth experimenting a little bit, to get your own opinion on what happens when you change something, just so you don't run the risk of missing out on something just out of fear of change.

Want to have fun without too much flutter? Then TCS, ASM, etc etc may be for you..
Do you want to improve your time? Then, as someone wrote, activating something that makes you slower but more able to hold the car might help...
Do you want to improve your skills? Then perhaps the long-term goal is to reset the aids, but not too quickly, lest you fall into frustration...
Probably many of us place ourselves in different combination of these three.

For the experience, the skill and the objective I have my default now is TC0, ABS weak, CSA weak
I took stability control off pretty quickly because it gave me the impression that it generated strange reactions of the car in some situations.
I slowly took the TC off (at first I was at 2/3) and learned how to manage the throttle. On rare occasions, especially in races wher car/track combo is not ideal for my taste, I put it back to 1 so as not to run the risk of getting pulled in by the rush of the race and stepping on the pedal without restraint.
I have not yet experimented without ABS; I think that will be the last thing I do
Now I'd like to try removing the countersteer assist, perhaps starting from more potable situations to (I hope) getting to the point of not using it at all.
So far I haven't because I know the many occasions it saves me from making a mistake, but I'm seeing that on rare occasions I think I'm handling the countersteer before the assist goes in. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not, but I have this afterthought that tells me that if I don't learn to feel that the countersteer moment is coming, and I just wait for the assist to engage it on the steering wheel, I might get used to not feeling what the force feedback is telling me.
And then when I watch your videos and I see you controlling in countersteer I get so excited, and I get just as excited when I can do it myself. I don't think I'm going to be faster, because right now my countersteer has the goal of not dying, not going faster, but I still think it's time to try

Your did a descent lap right there!!, and if you perfect S1 you'll save some real time, i loaded you ghost 0.4 ahead and i'm already on your bumper when entering the first tunnel, so you def can make time there!

But.... your second tunnel entry is REALY good, and it's my weakest turn of the track and i just can't keep up with you there, and thats not ideal with a long straight ahead
ran a 8.66 this morning...... guess what my PB was....... what are the odds
I know a .5xx is in me but i just don't have the motivation for it anymore
I'm waving this one goodby and hop on in the RX-8..... had time for 2 laps.....

- learned 2 things already, don't yeet it in first gear by accident, the rear locks quite hard :lol:

- brake early......
