Soo mr Philip..........., let me take a second to understand this......, this could...., if i manage to find another 0.109s .....
and if you will not participate again from now........( wich i highly doubt ) lol

be the first time i am able to maby dethrone you from my top spot on my leaderboard? :D:lol::lol::lol:

Motivation is on..... lol
Wait, I didn't race in Suzuka with Senna's car. So technically you beat me. ;)

And yes. I'm done for this one. :D

I jumped in the Jaaaaaaaag last night and posted a few laps. A mid-level silver. I'll be back for a few more tonight, but this is a circuit that doesn't like me, so unless I can find the balance I'll be setting the best time I can then retiring from this until the next one. 1 mil ain't bad for 10 mins driving, after all!

Getting frustrated with the progress over the last four sessions 1'55.726 -> 1'55.724 -> 1'55.707 -> 1'55.702. Such marginal gains in my total lap while my optimal sectors times add up to 1'55.185. If I don't manage at least a 1'55.5 then it's poor execution.

EDIT: Ran another 1'55.702... cruel lol.

I just hopped on for a quick one, I think ran 5 laps in total and managed to bring my 1:55.9 on my main account down to a 55.7 after 2 laps and then down to a 55.4 on the next lap - I wasn't expecting that at all!
I don't know whether to keep trying whilst I'm on form or leave it at that :D

Currently sitting on a 1:57.7 in the Mazda and can't better it for the life of me. I'm using DS5, no TC, AT. Any controller users in gold territory care to offer some advice?
I'm far from the best, but I'm in your situation, so I'll post the sectors of my best lap for reference:
36.510
26.566
23.729
30.253
1:57.058 total

Do you see any major differences in your lap? If so we can try to add some specific advices

DS4 here, Gold (1:56.6). One of the things I focus on the most is the moment when you release the brake and accelerate again.
This interval has to be as small as possible. Sometimes it's zero interval. ;)

Sitting at a 1:59.699 now in the Mazda. Probably could get silver (was on pace until I slid through a corner). Just glad to break into the under 2 minute barrier after many laps. Using a DS5 with AT and TC at 0.
And how fast are you in the Porsche? No matter what I do, I'm always 0.200-0.400 slower in the Mazda, watching at my ghost in the RSR.

Hitting my skill wall as predicted - frustration / misery setting in. Improved my time by around 0.1 after around 70 laps. Sitting at 1:57:7xx in the Porsche.

I tried the Renault R.S. 01. The cornering felt lovely - great aero balance - but its engine was the definition of turbo laaaaaaaaag. Also, despite having seven gears, I could never find the right one for the occasion.

Had a run in the Ford GT Spec II as well. It feels agile yet slippery on corner exits, and as usual is slow in ways I struggle to understand.

By mid session, the red mist took me (or Riot of the Blood for King of Fighters fans) as I tested the Mclaren. That car's brand of stability / power-on understeer clicked with my driving style - I was headbutting my way through corners. We were a perfect match...

But I was still over a half second faster in the Porsche :indiff:.

A visual metaphor of my driving style:

The fellow on the ground is my car.

I got back to it after a couple days off. 1:56.696 after a handful of laps, which was a slight gain from my previous best of 1:56.747. Then I hit a wall, unable to get any lower for a good dozen laps. Then out of nowhere I set a 1:56.389 after blitzing sectors 1 and 4.

It could have been better, because I had a very subpar sector 2. Optimal lap was a sub 1:56. I would love to get into the 1:55's.

I feel I'm in the middle of nowhere, halfway between silver and gold.

I guess silver is assured, gold is unreachable for my standard, but will give it a try.

Great job posting not-alien laps and great job for quicker people giving advise:bowdown:

I see advises to use more the 1st gear. This also applies to me, as I don't use it at all in this TT.

Question:
what is the proper way to use the lower gear to help the car turning?

use the gear at the moment the wheel gets turned? When the curb is approached?

going back to the faster gear is a bang-bang switch, or the slower gear needs to stay for same time?

Last but now least, apart from over revving, which I understand is no good, is it also a real race practice, or it just applies to sims / GT7?

Thanks

Well I got the accelerator working again..... just wobbled the cable a bit and voila, fixed. A bit was underneath the stand / chair which is quite heavy and I think it might have broken one of the wires. Anyhow it's been working for a while, so fingers crossed.
I think silver is, once again, beyond my capabilities!

The car I chose for this one was the 911 RSR. Looked at the top times, and while it's not the overall best, with the RX GT3 and the NISMO GT3 (2013) having better times, it was still competitive enough, plus I like the car the best out of all GT3s.

Best time possible was a 1:55.348, but my consistency at this track is abysmal. Sector 1 is a handful, but that last chicane is a b*****. I gave up after putting in 400km today. 1:55.840 is my best time for this one, and it will stay that way.

Once again, track limits suck... Again, you have to pretty much ride almost all of the kerb of that chicane to get a competitive time, but the margins to nail it are so unforgiving... I probably put like 10 complete laps overall. It was basically doing 90% of the lap, bottle chicane, retry, rinse and repeat...

I hate this track. Something about the entire first sector is just so annoying I can't ever get it right. But I took out the 911 and managed to push for a decent enough time, just into gold range for now. I'm so much of a mess here it's going to be META and leave.

As for your using the lower gear to turn, usually if you are using the drop to a lower gear to turn in trick then what you do is wait until you release the brakes and are starting your turn in and then do your final downshift. For some reason that makes the car turn in a little bit more. If it's the quick drop and back up you would then upshift as soon as your turn in improves. I used it in the Jag for years now and it would be for say turn 1, brake until near near point, turn, drop to 1st, immediately back to 2nd and accelerate. I didn't do this with the 911 here, but it works. And I do currently have a Gold time but only used 1st at turn 1, so it's possible. But definitely have to maximize the exit speeds of all the turns to do it.

I decided to try the Mazda tonight to see how it would react. Second lap I was less than 3 tenths off my best from yesterday in the Porsche. I thought I was going to easily beat my time. Uh...no. The car has some oversteer on the throttle, more so than the Porsche which feels pretty planted. It's good for everywhere but the hairpin and the final turn where I get sideways a lot easier. It felt heaps faster through the Schumacher Esses with no understeer compared to the Porsche there, though

My only problem in the Mazda? Consistency. Despite being fairly close to my best time in only two laps, I still could not eclipse my lap from last night. In fact, it took 9 laps before I even beat my second lap! The slight oversteer occasionally when I didn't expect it. Or I was expecting it and ended up sliding off a corner anyway. All I could muster was a 1:56.455. Apparently sector 2 was my undoing. I was off by 2 tenths compared to my best of the night. Oddly, said fastest sector 2 occurred on lap 1 (ONE!). I would love to know how I pulled that off in a car I was on track with for the first time.

I think the Mazda has more potential than the Porsche in my hands. I just need to hook up that lap with no mistakes.

1:59:482 – I'm in the silver range! I'll probably try to push it down just a little bit more, just in case the record time should move in the remaining 7 days.

I think this is the first silver since I started driving with a wheel. Last silver (might have been gold) was with a controller at Dragon Trail.

Last days I didn't manage to improve my time, though I was many time in 1:58...
Will continue to drive with Mazda and we will see.
Nothing from gold, only possible is breaking to 1:57.

UPDATE: first lap today and 1:58.164!
Almost 3 tenths down from previous pb.

I also recommend checking out https://betpokies.co.nz - there are lots of links to get some good entertainment.

Of course keep trying! When you get tired of it, you'll figure it out. But even now the result is good!
