Currently watching F1 practice at Suzuka and wondering how this VGT car requires such effort to achieve such a "slow" time. Set a 1:44 "banker" bronze after too many attempts to count. Like others have said, completing a lap at all is not trivial. I cant seem to get through 130r without going wide or the back end sliding.
I am completely unable to keep the Mclaren under control at 130R. The rear just swings out no matter if I'm on or off throttle nor doing gentle steering inputs. I spent 125+ miles on this TT and only made it around that corner like 5 times. Is it a controller thing? I have a silver on it but it's so frustrating that I've gone a lot quicker so many times only to lose it at that corner.
Same. I tried everything:

-Coasting thru
-Braking before and powering thru
-Slight brake thru
-The slight brake and slight throttle glitch

Nothing was consistent. Seems like RNG again. Sucks to be on a good lap, coming up to 130R and basically having to hope for the best.

Felt the urge to continue with the Fuji TT and try to at least come down to 1:33.xxxx.

Finally had a lap with a good S3 and that immediately paid off: 1:33.711! Sweet. Now I really feel that Gold actually is possible in this one. Had an optimum of 1:33.397.

I drive with the DuslShock4 and managed to push the throttle a bit more ”smooth” exiting the turns, and that really helped. The problem is consistency, of 15 laps I only had one sub 1:34. Those two last turns really kills my laptimes, but I finally feel quite confident on everything up to that point.
DS4 here too. I was stuck to 7 thousands slower than gold, and frustrated. I have 6 GTOnes, but thought "why not trying the rented car?". Mind you, it could just be a placebo effect, but I felt the car was more stable in off-throttle corner entry and even traction (TC2) was easier and smoother. Less than ten laps and from 1:33.495 I got 1:33.329. Again, maybe just a coincidence but who knows?

This can't be correct. Last night I was in gold at 2.97% - around Position 500.
Not at home to check now, but if the gold time hasn't moved, I must be atleast +/- 200 positions down the leaderboard by now.

I made big gains in control last night after turning down the sensitivity of my wheel from 10 to 1. I also changed my force feedback from 6 to 5.

The VGT is VERY sensitive to steering input at the 130R. So many times I went around that in a sideways power side until I reduced my sensitivity.

Nnnnno, that part is my own post which is quoted by the user at the start of their post.

The rest of the post, as written by the user, contains a very large image of their silver-rated time at 383rd:

Even so, that's about five hours in. We've got another silverer showing at top-1000 (at 6pm US [apparently IN has two time zones because of COURSE it does] time, nearly 14/15hr in), and even a more recent time close to +2% in the top 100 :|

I wonder how many people are driving a few corners and immediately sacking it off - or not bothering from all the reports of how nasty the car is...

I might try reducing the ffb. I tried 1 ffb at daytona and it was still unplayable because of the g29 cog system. I couldn't keep the car on the yellow line. I did gold there with the controller on my second lap.

Yeah, you'd either have to be an alien, have masodic tendencies or be participent of this thread and its leaderboard to keep on pushing. Gotta respect that determination though and although I struggle with this TT, I oddly can't wait to continue trying to tame this weird behaving car.

I think my great streak of 13 gold medals in a row (out of the 41 obtained) will end there. I was able to improve my time this morning and be in the silver medal with a time of 1'41'602 but the gold medal seems far away and too hard to obtain with this VGT(🤮🤮)

You can do this. You are as fast or faster than I am often. I know you've got it in you.

Don't give up.
@330d, myself and you are usually battling it out around the same times.

No hope in heck of me getting gold on this one. I’ve been driving the nuts off this car and I’ve no idea how to get another two seconds. As it is, I’ve managed to get to Silver, just. That will have to do I think unless I drop out of silver, then I’ll try it again.

Of course, I could always watch a replay, or a track guide, and learn how to drive this monstrosity.

Checked out @Tidgney s guide and shaved of 1.2s after 3 laps. 130R not a big problem anymore 👍💪
Still lots of time to gain. Gold will be extremly hard and not sure if possible at all but gotta try 😅

edit: Running TC1 and no ASM or CA. Tried with CA but feel so much slower somehow.

Thank you very much my friends for your encouragement. But I really struggle with VGT because it's too fast for me. The other TTs with VGTs (apart from 3 TTs but they were ovals 🤣🤣) I only had silver medals. I'm more comfortable on normal cars or racing cars. But not at all on these missiles which are only made for aliens!!!!🤣🤣

Edit : There are only 967 pilots to have the gold medal out of 59,925 !!!!! 😱😱😱😱

130R curve with the McLaren VGT...
The guide below.

I want to laugh at this but it gives me PTSD.

Actually, I'm not sure the 130R is the worse section of this TT. I would say that braking into the Casio complex is worse. So many times when I have managed to get through the 130R, I then brake for the complex and find I'm either carrying more speed than I realize and totally blow by the corner, or I brake much faster than expected coming up short and losing a good 1/2s right there. Very hard to get it right consistently.
